The Cups Estate

My first time doing a review. We have been coming here for years and have always loved the place. We have a place in Rye 5 minutes away. Amazing food, amazing wine amazing view, etc.
We will be back, but the service has gone to all times low. Management was patronising and difficult. It should have been so easy but wasn’t (we were just sitting on a rug). There is always a way to say things the right way without offending people. Obviously it’s not a skill that they have. We brought friends there (probably the 20th people we have been taking there). And I don’t think they would ever come back.

Arrived on a Saturday at 4: 50pm to a very busy winery and was looking forward to a quick glass of wine. Lovely waitress offered us a glass before a senior member of staff abruptly told us that we couldn't have a glass as they close at 5: 00pm leaving the waitress rather embarrassed. Very disappointed as the winery was extremely busy and we were looking forward to quick wine on our way past. Turned off and won't be returning.

View is lovely. Most dishes are invariably excellent, occasionally some portions are a little small, inside there's a stone floor with no acoustic damping so inside can be quite noisy, best to sit outside, they have blankets and heaters if it's cold.

Where do I start… one of the best winery experiences we had. The hospitality was beautiful a personalised experience. The food was “perfection” every detail was on point and made with love. Can’t wait to come back and watch the hours melt away. A must visit!

Wow! I've been to Cups 3 times now and this place is so consistent and has to be some of the best food on the peninsula. The Chefs menu here is perfectly balanced, portioned and timed. Every single dish uses beautiful produce that perfectly balanced every flavour on the plate. Portions are great too that won't have you leaving hungry, but you'll definitely be wanting more. The staff here are fantastic! Friendly, know their stuff, very attentive and fun. The venue itself is small and intimate and has great views. Inside and outside dining available and the wines are decent too. This is a must try if in the area for the food.

My husband and I had a great time at The Cups Estate. We sat in outdoor dining part, the view was so nice. We had chef’s menu with 7 different dishes. They were shared plates and enough for 2 people. The staff were so lovely and kind. I am so lucky to have discovered this place. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful view, delicious Pinot, and lovely service. Food came out well timed, so you never felt like you were waiting long between tapas.

Beautiful location soured by the fact you can’t take dogs. There’s a resident dog that lives there and is “aggressive” (according to the wait staff). We were promptly told to leave, despit no signs anywhere.
My advice is don’t have an aggressive dog, off lead while people (including) children are about.
Our guests will be recommended to avoid this place for not allowing dogs and the extremely rude staff.

Closed at 4pm with no notification on socials or website. Staff were still there but not willing to sell bottle of wine. Disappointing.

I went to this restaurant a year ago, and the food was incredible. We went again today for lunch with friends and it’s still absolutely brilliant, as are their wines and staff. Couldn’t fault the service at all, and the outdoor setting, with beautiful views, is perfect for kids to play safely in and within sight!

Lots of websites claim this winery is dog friendly. However, upon arrival waiter was extremely rude and told us off for bringing a dog. Lost our booking and advised us “oh well, shouldn’t have brought a dog”

Terrible service, no empathy. Cups estate charged us $120 dollars to not have lunch. While I understand a cancellation policy may be needed for for genuine no shows, we tried to do the right thing and left a vm the morning of due to being extremely sick. We understand the policy however, disappointed by our treatment and being lectured by Lee and told it was the same as buying a ticket to a concert (i assume meaning we are just another number). Their staff showed no empathy, and lectured us, even after explaining that we genuinely did not want to expose other customers or their staff to sickness in a covid environment. We explained that it was a special occasion and our last date for a while as my wife was 8 months pregnant.
Cups estate, thanks for ruining what was meant to be a special weekend. It was not about the refund it was about how you made us feel.

Underwhelming customer service. We had to cancel a booking on the day as my husband was genuinely very unwell. When I called there was only an answering machine so I could only leave a message, no one phoned me back. They proceeded to take over $100 out of our bank account. 2 weeks later someone finally gets back to us displaying limited compassion.

We understand these policies are in place when people show no disregard for others, however if there is a genuine reason with notification I believe out of good will and a bit of empathy these policies can be waved. Next time we go to the effort of getting a baby sitter Cups Estate will NOT be on our priority list to visit.

We celebrated a special birthday today at Cups and had the best dining experience. From the moment we were greeted by Andy and seated. Andy was friendly, funny, engaging, responsive and completely knowledgeable about both the menu and the wines.
Each dish was served with pride by owner Lee, and did not disappoint.
The flavours were as surprising as the combination of elements. From the calamari tacos and ocean trout, to potato gnocchi and lamb brackstrap, every dish was an experience to remember. We will be back and can’t wait for a new food adventure.

The food is outstanding over the 7+ courses paired with high quality wines - plus the engaged and friendly staff made for a great day out. Well done to all.

Beautiful food, wine and views! The estate is cute and cosy, and the food was delicious, beautifully plated and portion sizes were great. The service was also fab - shout out to Andy who was an absolute delight. Really pleased to have found this little gem of a place and would definitely go back.

What an incredible estate. Beautiful view. Beautiful good. Beautiful wine. Andy was amazing. Attentive. Funny. Friendly. Made our weekend and our day. Food was amazing and catered for all our dietary needs. Can't recommend this place enough.
