The Comic's Lounge reviews
53An excellent night, eight comedians honing their skills. Thursday night was good as not too packed in. Arrived early, grabbed a drink, chips and nachos and settled in for the night. Humour was varied and all were entertaining. Maybe don't sit in the front row if you do not like attention.
We had an awesome night. All the comedians were fantastic. Great atmosphere and so many laughs
Had a great laugh and enjoyed watching everyone. The food and drinks are overpriced though so I'd eat before coming here
Love this place. Tight @rs Tuesdays are amazing.
The parmi is tasty and plenty. The comics are friendly and time to time you can meet them at the bar. Keep it up.
Affordable, casual fun night out to share laughs with mates. We're lucky to have great local comedians and this is a good way to enjoy them.
Always a great time and Always leave repeating things they have said. Absolutely recommend to get there early and have the 2 course dinner and a few drinks. The Parma or Gnocchi i really recommend.
Great venue, great acts, always a brilliant time at the Comics Lounge. Stellar spot - take your friends, grab a meal, a drink and a bertie beetle showbag and have a good laugh.
Great entertainment and food but with a restricted audience due to Covid, I believe they should have spread the visitor tables rather than clump them together.
Love comics lounge - have been going to shows over the last 10 years. Great comedians, cool atmosphere, well priced food and snacks.can’t go wrong! Pop down and have a laugh!
Friendly people, friendly staff, great atmosphere but who ever laid out the seating isn't very bright way to close to each other ️With more spread out seating I would definitely rate it 5 star though, so if you don't care about that this place is great.
The funniest of funny are located inside! Such a central location with lots of culture, jokes, laughs and good times to be had! Stop on by for a great meal, show and company. Don’t forget to bring your loudest laugh
First time I've ever been to a comics lounge, saw David Hughes and a couple other blokes. The spruiker fellow was by far the star of the show for me. Hilarious dude. I'm terrible with names though unfortunately though. He did make me very nervous, as I was sitting in the second row and one of the first things he said was that he wasn't going to heckle (roast?) the front rows, so we could relax, which I thought was a trap. Maybe that was the idea, or maybe I'm just insecure and distrustful. Maybe all of the above. Regardless, he had me in stitches.
The only reason I remembered Dave's name was because he's a vegan and no one made fun of him for it (or maybe because he's reasonably famous). I felt sad though, as he walked off the stage, I'm not sure if he realised but the smile from his face immediately disappeared as he turned his back, and he seemed relieved to be finished. That's totally understandable, comedy would be a tough gig. I have a hard enough time with every day conversations and I'm not even trying to be funny. But that look made me feel like something was really wrong.
I hope he's okay.
There was some other dude who thought he was Jack black. He made me feel uncomfortable. Not my kind of humour. It felt lazy and poorly improvised. I'm sure he's a funny dude. Maybe it was an off night for him. I wish him my best and hope he enjoys finally being back on the road again.
And the other dude, somewhat rotund and crude. Absolutely hilarious. Pushed the boundaries of what could be considered acceptable, gotta love that. That would be such a tricky aspect of comedy in today's PC culture. I think he made some people quite uncomfortable but I really appreciated his humour.
Anyway I'll be back, I thoroughly enjoyed the night even though the food was pretty lousy! But that wasn't what I went there for so I'm not complaining!
Thanks guys!
I come here once every few months and it’s good once you relax and get into it! Have a beer it will loosen you up to appreciate the jokes more haha
Great staff and nice space, I personally am just not a fan because I prefer tiered seating where I can see the act better.
This place is ok, nothing special or exceptional about it. I would say that lighting and sound quality is average, gives you 80s club feeling which hasn't been updated with time. Bar is relatively cheap but comes with cheap our below average beers.
Fun venue which works well to cram many people in to see the the far too few comics that grace our shores
My partner and I are regulars for a good reason! Get a gold pass and get in regularly because it pays for itself!
Great staff - friendly and attentive.fantastic food - absolutely recommend having dinner - and the line up was terrific. MC Doug kept the crowd happy and was a delight to be entertained by. Best comedy venue in Melbourne!
Went to the show last Saturday night for the first time, after winning 4 tickets from you guys. Thank you so much, my guests and I enjoyed some much needed laughs and an all round good time! What a great venue, very funny comedians and great food too!
Just paid $5 for a 95¢ bottle of water, and only because they don't have soft drinks besides post-mix and long-life juice. Ouch. Barman suggested I might like a beer instead; careless thing to say to a non-drinker. Now I know why they do bag checks on the way in!
Besides all that, the food was ok and the table waiters were friendly enough. But: THE COMEDY WAS GREAT!
