The Cerberus Beach House reviews
81Was gutted when we arrived to late for lunch service. But the takeout calamari was wonderful. Earing it next to the sea. Was very good.
The new male cashier need to be trained.

I ordered:
Flat white - warm;
Ham cheese croissant - toasted.
I had been waiting for long time then checked the barista for my coffee.the cashier saw me and just remembered me then passed the my order paper to the barista.
I Had started over and waited again.

The barista had to made it again and gave me a searing hot flat white.
I had waited a while longer and saw the guys in line behind me got the food then came up checking my croissant. They replied no croissant ordered.
Having saw my receipt, they said: you only ordered long black.
I paid for $11 just for a coffee?

I Had started over and waited again.
Finally I got a toasted croissant with inner cold ham cheese.
Couldn't wish for a more stunning location to celebrate my husband's birthday! Everything about our experience was faultless. Staff were warm, welcoming and the optimal level of attentive. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and unforgetable view. All dishes were exceptional, but we particuarly loved the scallops, market fish and basque cheesecake. A true gem just outside the city that's not to be missed!
The level of courtesy displayed by the staff was highly disappointing. The impolite service significantly tarnished the overall experience.
Beautiful place with a stunning view but service was lacking
The staff kept reminding us that we had only 2hrs to finish our meal and leave. We can understand they had another booking but we didn't need to be told so many times and be served with a displeased attitude.
The staff's demeanor was extremely discourteous. Although the food and ambiance were satisfactory, the overall experience was marred by the impolite service.
From the location to the incredible team, the vibe to the amazing food, this is a go-to local love spot for us.can't recommend it highly enough!
Really appreciate the great service offered by them for my birthday celebration. Shout out to Sarah and Jess for their great work. Definitely recommend. Food is also very very good.
Fantastic sunset location - we had a big family table - such amazing service - the French waitress was gorgeous to us and all the staff were so busy but happy and smiling and chatty. And food perfect and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend booking for a window table overlooking the beach.
Very tasty fish & chips
I would say THE BEST in Melbourne
Friendly, happy & young staff serving you with a smile, which is a bonus
Great location. Fish and chips were a little disappointing fish was very greasy and chips were like the "bottom of the bag" chips. Every one of them. Pity location is superb and can't be beaten on a nice sunny day
Excellent location for a get together for two or family and friends!
Great selection of dishes backed up by the excellent service from the team.
The servers were extremely lovely here. They definitely had a great selection of dishes on the menu too.
For an entree I ordered the steak tartare. The tarp chips were lovely and the fish was relatively good. The depth of the colour was a bit off putting though as usually it’s a lighter, pink tone.
Aside from that (which honestly would likely be a preference thing anyway) the rest of the food was brilliant. The duck was delicious, not at all dry which was amazing! The flavour pairings were impeccable. The flourless chocolate cake was lovely, a bit more on the rich and more of a bitter taste. Again this is likely more of a flavour preference than a poor job on the restaurants part!
Parking is weary enough with free and ticketed options available. The view is absolutely stunning! And the gluten free options were not as limited as many other places.
Whilst the location is of course welcoming to children, the menu does not offer foods that are likely to be enjoyed by children.
Overall it was a great place to go for a nice dinner!
Sat down to a window seat on a nice night and that's where the pleasure stopped. Ordered the gnocci. This was on the specials board. The gnocci was honestly the worst I've had. Chewy, cardboard like texture; absolutely inexcusable for gnocci. Much, much worse than supermarket quality. To make matters worse, one staff member was unapologetic saying she hadn't heard those comments before. Another member more accommodating, bringing a substitute fish chips which was great. To add further insult to a disappointing evening, we were not only charged for this clear out of freezer off gnocci, we were charged more for it having to correct the amount at bill time. All in all, very disappointing when you're paying so much and expect much better. Lift your game!
Great view and setup, however long wait times, no cutlery, soggy chips with some being uncooked, and fish being mediocre.
Really lovely place to enjoy some crunchy fish. (Chips weren’t crunchy they were soggy and dry on the inside). Would absolutely return and grab the gummy. Need to book if you want upstairs. Our fish burgers and fish fillet didn’t have any salt on them but luckily the salt is readily available at the counter for you to help yourselves. My biggest bugbear is about the customers - people actually litter! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw locals with their dogs leaving water bottles, half eaten fish and chip packs, napkins all under the table. I would Not expect this from locals in the area (which they were). Probably for the council not Cerebrus - Wonder if bins and signs could be put up to remind people to leave places as they found them instead of polluting a beautiful spot!
Too busy for me, wouldn't normally wait that long to order, or for the order to be ready, however at least it was very good food once we got it.
Imo would be greatly improved by both digital ordering capability, and also buzzers to get your order from the window.
I would return for the food, but will aim for less busy times next time, but that's not the fault of the restaurant! Great to see it's so popular.
(Thanks Jamie for your reply, I totally understand your points, and it was mainly challenging for me as an autistic adult, dealing with the crowds & noise, but that is what you get for choosing a popular place on a lovely beach, lol. As a manager of a small business, it's better to have a complaint about being busy, than to be dead quiet!)
Beautiful spot to sit and watch the sail boats on the water. It is upstairs so not good for all mobility types.
Great way to spend lunchtime hours. Attentive staff that presented well and showed care. Food, recommended drinks were savoured, company, views, and ambience thoroughly enjoyed.
It took over 20 minutes to get a simple order of chips on a not very busy day. Chips were nice, but pricey and they charge an extra $ for sauces.
