The Briars reviews
65Great stalls with lovely crafts and food. The stallholders were extra friendly and happy to chat.
What a beautiful place to spend a whole day. So much to see and do: walk along the boardwalk through the wetlands and sit in the bird hide and observe the waterbirds, visit the historic grounds and gardens and view the homestead from the outside, visit the Eco House and learn about saving energy, or the council nursery to buy some indigenous plants. Visit the information centre to learn about the history and ecology of The Briars. Then when you have done all that you can dine at Josephine's, with lovely views across the valley, or just have a picnic under one of the heritage listed trees.
Beautiful location, set-up and staff. Recently shot a wedding here and was very impressed, would recommend to any soon to wed couples
Gorgeous property. The bush walks in the nature reserve were a hit with the kids.
The visitor centre kept the kids entertained for over an hour.
Could have been a little more friendly at the Astronomical Society public night. It was a good night of stargazing however.
Great day at the Frankston Armature Wine Guild wine show held in the barn at the Briars, Mount Martha, Mornington Peninsula.
Very nice place to visit. We have visited this historic place twice before and we will be visiting this place again in a months time (when it reopens) Also its a pity a lot of Napolean's artifacts were stolen from the homestead several years ago but there are still numerous items of his to look at.
Such a beautiful place to explore on the peninsula! If you’re an animal lover, especially a bird lover this place is for you! Best of all it’s free to explore and you’ll spot animals such as emus, kangaroos, koalas and black swans living wildly. We purchased some heirloom seeds and were very tempted to buy some of the educational material on the animals. The cafe was lovely and there’s also a farm area you can visit where all the heirloom produce is growing. We’ll definitely be back!
From the time we were met at the entrance and had a lovely meal could not fault it lovely gardens thank you BRIARS MNT MARTHA
Great place for a walk to appreciate nature. Lots of birdies to see also many marsupials to be found as well.
Took a group of seniors here today and must say it was very disappointing. We took our own morning tea and were shown to a disgustingly dirty area with cockroaches in the sink at the rear of the visitor centre. The public toilets need to be visited by the Health department as they were a real health hazard, also disgustingly dirty. We left before doing the tour of the homestead as we were so unhappy with our visit, especially since when we booked the visit back in November, we were not informed that a fee was to be paid to see the house. We will not be returning.
Went to Josephines Restaurant for a birthday night function there. Fun night with lovely staff and good variety of finger food and drinks. Bad weather night made going to the outfoor toilets a chore. Maybe improve that part and build indoor toilets. Atmospheric with lots of old pics and decorations.
Beautifully maintained and fantastic facilities. Great for a picnic, bbq, bush walk and we thoroughly enjoyed the educational and historical information provided. Worth a visit for all ages.
The wow factor is all over this place for a wedding function/reception.
Its not just a great place but the service was excellent to boot.
Friendly staff and well organized/Maintained. Ample areas for kids to walk around and play/picnic. 4 bbq's next to the visitors information area.
Use this place a lot
Visited many times
Meet for regular bbq s always clean
Great for families and so close to mornington mt martha frankston with all having great beaches
My fave _ the briars boardwalk and bird hides _ watch out for the emus
Great place for a quiet bush walk for short to medium distances. Kookaburras, emus, koalas and kangaroos if you can spot them. Cute cafe and restaurant in a beautiful setting. A nice day out or stop along the way
Great food, lovely venue for weddings and parties.
Only issue was the 1 toilet block when there was two large events on at the same time - stagger bookings
Nice walk. Great place to see some wildlife. Lots of info available at visitors centre and great coffee at the cafe.
Fantastic place to take the kids for a bit of old world charm and to get back to nature. Cannot speak highly enough of the birthday parties at the Cafe here, either. My daughter was invited to a fairy themed party and it was magnificent, with everything but the cake provided, the children making fairy crowns from flowers etc and they even potted a plant each which they got to take home! Lovely day out for families️
