The Bendigo Club reviews
33Staff are fantastic, but it took the better part of two hours to get meals out. Apparently that’s to be expected.fun night but the food was way late and mediocre
Very nice food good atmosphere service just want to mention our wedding was the first at Woodbury house 61 years ago Julie ellerton
So good! Just had our wedding tasting there. So delicious and the staff were so accommodating. 10/10 would recommend
Just with a group having a meeting and coffee, good service, a pretty good selection of cakes etc. Plenty of parking, good setting for our meeting
A pleasant place with extremely inconsistent service and food. Will be luck of the draw what you get.
The venue is very clean and welcoming. Not likely to draw much of a bogan crowd. Nice and classy little place. The food was quite nice but lacked flavour. Broad selection on the menu to suit all tastes.
It has a nice bistro and the function rooms are great for both events and first aid training courses.
Very disappointed with the meal. Partner had bangers and mash.hospital food was far better there than what he had at bendigo club. Schnitzel was one you would expect to buy from a fast food shop. Very much doubt we will return for a meal. Only bonus was being refunded the price of partners meal as he couldn't eat it. I tasted it as well and it wasn't good.
Went here for the first time for lunch and absolutely loved my meal. Great food and great price, will go here again. Had the Parma bar meal, the best.
The Bendigo club is an older and quaint venue, but it's very good fit training, conferences, they do great pub style meals, and their facilities, including lawn bowls are very well maintained. The staff are excellent, very helpful and friendly.
A lovely function room, but the food and service were a disaster!
Last weekend an Australia-wide charity (of which I’m a member) held a High Tea, with a guest speaker and a fashion parade. Bendigo was chosen, from all of Victoria, as the region for the function to be held, but The Bendigo Club let us down badly.
I’m not sure if the catering staff understand what a High Tea is, but could I offer the following suggestions:
- If lunch is scheduled for 12.15pm on the program, commencing the service at 12.45pm is not acceptable.
- With a High Tea, all of the food should be served at once and not plate by plate over an hour and a half period. We expected mixed platters served to the tables and not a plate of scones, half hour wait, plate of sandwiches, half hour wait, plate of cakes, etc.
- One waitress is not enough for 120 guests. The poor girl was run off her feet and apologising profusely.
- You need knives to cut scones – not spoons.
- If you don’t have enough jam for the scones, honey is not an appropriate substitute. Scones, honey and cream doesn’t quite cut it.
- Finger sandwiches need to be made well in advance so they hold together and not made while everyone is waiting for their lunch.
This High Tea was an embarrassment to the 40 Bendigo members and disappointing to the 80 people who had travelled from around Victoria and NSW. One lady hit the nail on the head with her comment that “It was like something out of Fawlty Towers! You could write a skit on it! ”
One star is way too high for this place.
Came for dinner on Saturday night, of the four things we ordered on the menu three of them were unavailable. Of the alternate meals we ordered two were steak meals both done medium, first one came medium, second came out well done, WTF!
We thought this is where disappointment would end there, but no, of the six items on the desert menu three were available. That was enough for us, we were out. Leaving disappointed and without desert.
We felt for the pleasant staff, they kept apologising because there was a menu change coming. It obviously that management weren’t doing their job and left the staff to pick up the pieces.
We won’t be back, will spread the word.
We ordered meals at 12.36pm, still waiting at 2.00pm Finally garlic bread came, it was rock hard. Roast was stone cold, gravy was powdery and had big chunks in it. Mashed potato was very watery and tomato paste on Parma was very bitter. Medium steak was charcoal. Never again will we eat here. Very very average. We left 3/4 of the meals on the plate, not to mention we booked and arrived to no booking at all. Had to wait for them to set up a table. So many people have gone and got their money back today.
