The American Creswick

Brendan has been busy during lockdown and has made some improvements to the hotel. The place always has a lovely ambience. There is a great wine list and all good variety of cocktails to choose from. Last night I had the rump which was tender and cooked to perfection by Adam.

Food was pretty good and the beers were nice and cold. Service by the older gentleman was great however the young lady's customer service skills needed a bit of work.

The american hotel is by far the better hotel in creswick.beautiful elegant renovation while still keeping the pub feel and acknowledging the heritage of creswick with the photos showing old creswick town. By the way the food is good too.

The American Creswick is a great place to grab a meal. Dine in or their take away are both magnificent. Their take away meals taste just as good as if they served you at your own table. We love their chunky chips and ribs are divine. Finding the American in Creswick was one of the best things that come out of Victoria’s lockdowns.

Service was great. Mains were fantastic. I was disheartened by my dessert, carrot and fig cake. I was told it was apple and fig at first. Aside of what it was it turned out to be a little dry and over baked.

Wanted to go in to see the renovations, because we had been at the old pub, but they seemed to be keeping odd hours, not open for lunch which is important for us. Very disappointing.

Value for money, lot's of vego options, a bit different, not a lot of African restaurants about. Friendly owner

Food is delicious with gluten free options, staff are very friendly and the best split bill system I've seen. Great for large groups. Will definitely be eating there again.

Great atmosphere, really wonderful staff, just a little slow with bringing meals out. Would definitely give it another go!

My wife & I enjoyed an outstanding dining experience with friendly service, charm & character. Brendan & staff are polite, friendly and welcoming, we felt very comfortable all evening. Definitely a "must" visit if in the area. With Brendan as the owner/manager, it was easy to see the staff were happy and content in the workplace and enjoy what they do, which made our evening all the more enjoyable.
I cannot recommend The American Creswick highly enough.

Very disappointed with all of the food we tryed. My daughter ordered a hawain pizza and it was chewy and looks like came out of a microwave. All the food was tasted like old and reheated. We had pork ribs and a chillie beef ragu. We were just visiting Ballarat and not recommending this place for anyone. Two stars for the lady who was friendly enough to swap our frozen wine bottle (which we got it from them) for a chiiled one.

Had dinner with our car club here last Friday. Service and food is excellent. We all had a fab time. Totally recommend.

I absolutely love coming here for the small town charm and the friendly staff. The owner Brendan welcomes us with open arms when we go, and we have never had anything but great food and drinks.

I highly recommend the peppered sausages, pumpkin curry, or if you're feeling cheeky, the beef burger goes down a little too easily.

Take the time to visit Creswick, and the American will never let you down.

We had southern fried chicken, fries and coleslaw (chefs BBQ sauce was really nice) Also had grilled barramundi and salad was also very nice. Service was good and surroundings were nice in the outside meal area.

Friendly staff and good service but meals we ordered (porterhouse steaks) were very average for the priced charged.

We had a drink and dinner here and the food is seriously good - a real gem and will def return. I had the peppered sausages with mash which were fresh and tasty and locally sourced, hubby had the ribs which he said were the best he has eaten in ages. Great atmosphere and service.

The American is my favorite pub in the Creswick area and one of my favorites in Australia. It’s classic, historic and the food is top notch. Highly recommend the southern fried chicken but everything we’ve tried there is great. And the lovely owner Brendan gave us a tour of the 19th century upstairs function rooms and balcony bar overlooking the local countryside. Always good to see a beautiful historic building being kept in top condition by loving owners.

I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful hotel for an overnight work trip.
I was greeted by two friendly ladies and my heater in the room had been turned on earlier so it was warm n toasty!
I stayed in the downstairs room, which has a bathroom adjacent. The bathroom is clean and spacious, and the shower pressure is awesome.
The car park has night lights and I felt very safe throughout my stay.
Will be back for sure:)

Great food, ribs were fantastic, falling off the bone, others in my group had the beef burger and also raved about their food. Lovely staff who worked well with the various COVID-19 restrictions.
