Ted's Cameras Southland

Teds cameras are good to deal with: competitive and you are at least getting local backup in event of a problem. Also be sure to get their 5 year warranty option (i have manged to get this on 2 occasions included in the price negotiated) which not only gets you the extended warranty but a promise of a loaner if the service/ replacement will be a long time.

Very friendly atmosphere. The staff don't pounce on you as soon as you walk in the door. Extremely good product knowledge. May not be as cheap as internet prices, but the after sales service is exceptional and well worth the extra money. I have referred all my friends to Teds and they have all had the same experience

Ted's Cameras printing is terrible. I've used pro labs before and Ted's printing lab is the worst of the lot.

My monitor has been calibrated, and when I printed my photos they came out half a stop to a full stop darker. I suspect that the software Ted's Cameras uses for printing auto levels the colors so that it changes the black level and the white level.

When I asked the staff about this they told me my monitor wasn't calibrated. My monitor is calibrated using a color calibrator they sell at Ted's and I've used pro printing labs such as CPL in South Melbourne and the prints I get from CPL are matching my screen. So it's Ted's printers (or software) which is not calibrated properly.

I made a warranty claim on a flooded Nikon underwater camera. I had taken out extended warranty on the camera when I purchased it. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They handled everything for me and I got a replacement. Thank you!
