Taxiboat reviews
38 Wow what a hidden gem.
I reluctantly write this review as I don't want to share with you how great it is.
Our party of 10 tonight was treated like royalty. Chatting with staff and the owner, they looked after us and were just so pleasant to be with. It was like we entered their home and they shared many south East Asia dishes from their own experiences.
The food was exceptionally fresh, delivered quickly, and exactly as they appear in the pictures - bright and steaming. I have never tasted pork buns so great in Australia.the spring rolls are a decent size.dumplings just melted in my mouth.
Crispy chicken was just divine.not one bad dish.
The chef is a master.
One standout is their home made sweet chilli sauce.sweet chilli sauce with a lovely kick to it.balanced perfectly
Man I have fallen in love with this place and can't wait to eat there again.
Great food with very attentive staff and excellent service. The Mongolia beef rib was amazing, highly recommend. The order over the phone technology is very smart and Covid-friendly, the only feedback is would be good to have the option to pay using PayPass instead of typing lengthy credit card details. Liked the vibe too and will come back again.
Too good
Just try it
You will have a habit
Great staff
Great chef
Peaceful environment
Great little gem. I found it by chance and was really impressed. Beautiful staff and amazing food.
We had both meat dishes and vegan food and everything was Spot on!
Will Be returning again 100%
Amazing curry and the Shanghai dumplings are to die for. Super friendly staff. The owner is the key to the success!:)
Amazing as we have come to expect at Taxiboat, Kim and his team are attentive and knowledgeable. Ingredients are fresh and prepared beautifully every time. A must do for lovers of the art of Asian cooking.
Last night my friend and I chose to have an impromptu Dinner, impressed by the Decor and ambience of the Restaurant. Afterall first impressions count. We were both very impressed with both the three Waitresses and even moreso by the exceptional meals that we had. Entee were the Fish Cakes. Devine! Mains were the Green Curry (with Beef). Absolutely exquisite! ! The other Main was the Fish, again, an absolute delight! All dishes were exceptional in presentation, quality and quantity. Thankyou for a special evening!
While I found the staff attentive and the vibe wonderful. I had an average experience overall. I found a very long hair in my Thai Green Curry but I persisted without fuss. The food was ready far too quickly to have been prepared fresh in my opinion and the flavour was really lacking in my dish. I ordered an Asahi beer which came in a bottle. It was poured into a beer glass (the likes of which did not fit the entire contents of the bottle) the remainder of my bottled beer I never saw again. I was even asked if I'd like another but I was still scratching my head as to who had the rest of my first beer? Staff? Upon payment we were asked awkwardly if we would like to tip. I personally think the experience did not warrant a tip or to be put on the spot like that to give one. I'm unlikely to return.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
What a train wreck.
Food is tasteless, boring, overpriced, bland
Wait staff, clueless, untrained, uninviting.immature.
This place is dirty.
Pad thai and special fried rice is straight of the shelf at coles.
IT'S NOT EVEN WORTH 1 STAR
RESPONSE TO THE OWNER
YES, WE ARE 100% SURE WE HAVE THE RIGHT RESTAURANT.
6 PEOPLE IN OUR PARTY.
WE CAN'T ALL BE WRONG.
YOU SERVE RUBBISH, PROCESSED, TASTELESS, EXPENSIVE FOOD.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
We went there again after about couple of years, the food quality was dropped significantly namely the freshness!
Price also has been increased such a simple meal for two people costed about $110 and we got charged for taking the leftover away!
This restaurant had been one of the best in terms of quality, costumer service and also cost, but I got surprised and also embraced.
Red curry, fish cakes & sweet basil satay.was soooo yum! Good wine list, decor is lovely, great for a meaningful event. Service very pleasant. Definitely going back again
Delicious food and fantastic service. Have been here on a number of different occasions and the staff are super lovely and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend!
We were blown away with the food and great service. We had the pork dumplings, Thai fish cakes, Mongolian beef and satay chicken. Can’t wait to go again!
7/10 for the Asian (mostly South East Asian) journey $38.00 banquet menu, 8/10 for their extensive wine selection, 8/10 red hue ambiance and 10/10 for service, thank you Kim, Julia, Sofie and team
Cute and cosy with friendly family style
service. Fried rice, Mongolian beef and dumplings were delicious.
We love this unpretentious Malaysian fusion restaurant. They mainly serve Malaysian food with some Thai Vietnamese and Indonesian twists in the menu. Good place for groups. They have weekday special for one main dish rice and drink for less than $25 per person. Clean and slightly upscale place with really caring and attentive owner who greets his customers
Excellent food and service. We ordered everything we liked the look of and the waitress kindly advised us it would be too much - even a smaller order was indeed too much but we were able to take leftovers home. Delicious, generous portions good for sharing
Our favourite Thai restaurant in Northcote! Tasty and well priced food. Friendly service. I have never been disappointed!
