Tantra Indian Restaurant reviews
86Hands down one of the best indian restaurant. Paneer chilly is a must try. Good vegetarian options.
Food quite bland. Expensive for what is was. Onion bahjis almost burnt. No offer of rice when I ordered so curries came with none. Luckily we ordered a naan or there was nothing.
Superb food, ambience and the staff. Very impressed by the quality and quantity of food both
Cockroach in our food! Unbelievable! We ordered butter chicken and found cockroach in our food. I threw up the moment I saw it in the food.
Sorry to say that Tantra has declined since I last visited, pre Covid. My Goat Rogan Josh had no bones; it was nowhere near the standard I previously enjoyed here. When I asked the waiting staff to tell us which dish was which the answer was "I already told you".
I do hope this restaurant can recover its former elevated standard.
Food took forever to come out; 20 mins apart even though knowing full well, we wanted everything to come at once. Service was …. No words for the kind of attitude from the waitress (assuming the wife).
Ordered Menulog for my household and I while we are in covid isolation, not only did the food come quickly and taste amazing, but they included extra pappadums and desserts for us!
It's made our isolation so much better
Ordered through Uber eats, food was very tasty and generous servings, we had the garlic naan, vegetarian vindaloo and palak paneer, all very delicious!
The quality, quantity and taste was really good. Their seekh kebab and nan is 10/10 recommended.
My sisters booked this restaurant for my birthday yesterday. While we were waiting for little sister. I noticed that there was a cockroach (German) climbing on the wall, which I pointed out to the waiter, which they killed but didn't disinfect the wall. 5 minutes later another cockroach climbed on the wall, our table & chair was seated close to the wall which I felt uncomfortable to stay encase it climbs onto our food or on ourself. Very disappointed.
Also german cockroaches are prone to breeding quickly and infesting carpets or eating wood, their is carpet throughout their restaurant.
Food was over prices as well. Can of soft drink $5 and Nan bread for $7.50
I ordered dinner and received everything but the prawn spinach curry 2 prawns and raw naan both 2 I ordered. When my wife called the ladie blamed Uber eats driver. My wife said do Uber eats cook food. The ladie had very bad customer service and very rude. I will never order from here again. Do not recommend to anyone.
Take-a-way missing a number of pieces, others were replaced, others just plane wrong.
Food taste was really good and others were poor.
Not going back
No COVID saftey.
This is easily my most favourite indian restaurant in all of Melbourne. Food quality is always top-notch, and they even have dishes that you can rarely find in other Indian restaurants. The dine in experience is great thanks to good service and great interior design, and the takeaways are also always great because not only are the portions very generous, they've often left us extra bits and pieces of food. And I already mentioned the amazing food quality. Can't recommend these guys enough.
Waited two hours to get order. Received two different biryanis that weren't labelled. No receipt. One was gosht, one was lamb, but couldn't tell the difference, both tasted the same. An overwhelming smell of burnt musty socks and garbage bin. It wasn't mushy, but flavour wise the worst I've ever had. No comparison to Dosa Hut. For the premium price I paid I am very upset. Naan was edible but nothing to get excited about. And no raita with the biryani. Like seriously, every other place includes it for free. At least say i doesn't come with the biryani.
Myself and my family used to visit this restaurant when I was a child (years ago), and the food was beautiful!
We stopped dining there a few years ago after my sister and father advised us about the terrible change in standards.
Along with my mother, I went there last night for dinner and the food was honestly disappointing. We ordered naan with chicken tikka masala and a paneer starter. Both of the dishes tasted the same and as a woman who cooks Indian food on a daily basis, I could tell that it was filled with tomato sauce.
The chicken was cooked well. However, that was the only pro about eating here. We were extremely upset by the outrageous price (especially since the food was of such a low standard).
In addition, the restaurant reeked of mustiness and it disturbed our dining experience.
When we washed our hands in the bathroom, the sight was terrible. It smelled unpleasant and looked like a sewage. It won’t take much money to buy a room freshener or clean properly. Considering the interiors of the restaurant are beautiful.
I never write reviews, but felt the need to after such a bad experience. Tantra should seriously consider making changes ASAP and reviving the restaurant to it’s former glory.
Been back from first visit and I fortunately service has deteriorated.
Tantra staff - being more friendly to guests goes a long way.
Food was average. The lady was rude, I think she was the manager. We asked for a high chair for my granddaughter, which she refused rudely, no explanation given. She literally was throwing stuff on the table. There was another set of diners there and she was equally rude to them. Never ever going to go back there, if she is the manager. DISAPPOINTED.
My favourite Indian restaurant! All their curries are so delicious. My favourites are the spicy beef vindaloo, lamb madras and panak paneer. Flavours are spot on. Every time I ordered, they gave me complimentary rice and dessert (fried doughnut balls in sweet syrup). Highly recommend this place if you’re craving delicious Indian food!
We have been getting food from this restaurant for a while. The food quality can be inconsistent
My favourite Indian restaurant!
