Tandoori Den Camberwell reviews
71 Nice ambiance, friendly staff and served delicious food. They have BYO option. The place is bit expensive
Must try coconut crab.
Tandoori Den is a hallmark restaurant of Camberwell Junction.
The service was great - no problems there.
The food I thought was a notch of its best and seemingly things have got much more expensive. $10.90 for a Kingfisher beer? Wow.
$41.00 for a mixed tandoori starter? It was really small enough for 2 not 4 people.
So 4 stars from me as the value equation didn’t match the serving sizes. Also on our bill we were charged corkage for an extra bottle and two extra Kingfisher beers. Hmmmm.
Definitely a bit on the pricier side and the decor of the restaurant is a bit old fashioned. However in saying that the food is always excellent and authentic here. If you are looking for a delish Indian meal this is the place to go
Overall it was a great place! We got the butter chicken, a lamb dish, vegetable Rogan Josh and Palak paneer. The butter chicken and lamb dishes were packed with flavour and were delicious! The palak paneer was light and creamy and cooked perfectly. The Rogan Josh was also pretty good. The staff were kind and funny and the drinks and desserts were delicious One thing I would say, the things were a little overpriced but it was worth it!
Best Indian in my area and don’t I know it. I consistently pay the premium this institution demands because of their consistency and excellence. Huge menu, which could definitely use some demystifying for newcomers but at the core this is really dependable Indian food that will make you smile.
Parata was good. But didn’t like the fried rice. Overpriced. Too expensive for the amount of food they give. Will not go again
38. Chicken Tikka Masala was an absolute disaster. The sauce was good for nothing and the chicken was not properly cooked. The tomatoes and onion were raw. I spend $29 and it's doesn't even worth for $5. Please don't buy it.it's a total scam.
I had lunch there today, great food, great hospitality, very welcoming, friendly staff, definitely recommend it
The ambience is acceptable. Service is on time and overall experience is good. However the food was the biggest disappointment. We had ordered sekh kebab, out of 4 pieces two were exceptionally spicy even though we categorically said we didn't want spicy option. This restaurant charges top of the line price for an Indian eatery. I've had much better kebab and curry for much lower price. I typically go to an Indian eatery in Bayswater called Saanjh. Food in Saanjh is an absolute delight compared to the tasteless food in this restaurant but at half the price. Won't be back here.
Tandoori platter is very small $40
Curries only 4 pieces of meat
Used to be good
Now overpriced and small portions
Don’t waste your time
We were walk ins on a Monday night at 7: 20pm on a rainy day. They make us wait so they can prepare a table by the toilets even though I can see 7 tables in the middle all empty and ready to be sat on. I asked if we can sit on the other tables that are available, his response was “we are getting unexpected walk ins sometimes”
What a way to make a customer feel. Even the reason does not make sense. We too are walk ins, so why save the other nicer spots?
My past experiences when we’ve come and picked up the food has been 5 star service, but only because we park the Tesla right out the front and they seem to only favour who they think deserves if according to wealth.
That’s what this place is, bias, on wealth and race.
Needed a quick dinner before the movie's and remembered Tandoori Den. Food was tasty service was efficient and timely but our waiter Zaffar was excellent a real professional. Will be back, thanks Rory.
Food was great. However the waiter looked a bit not interested. He threw the plate on the table instead of placing it gently. When it came to taking our order he stood there blank instead of saying ‘can i take your order’. Then walked off half way through my sentence. I think he needs to find a job that he likes because this is clearly not where he wants to be. Apart from the guy taking the payment at the end, all other employees were rude. If im paying for premium food i expect premium service.
Good food and service, but poor value due to high prices without the correspondingly top class cuisine.
If your idea of dining fun is sitting by the window and watching the picturesque Lower Reserve and watch life go by without caring much for food or $, this is the place for you.
Ordered paneer tikka and tandoori cauliflower for entree. Both were dipped in red paste, tasted the same and cauliflower was boiled not tandoori. The rawness of the red paste out of the bottle cldnt have been clearer.
The main course was palak paneer and rogan josh veg which was the name for chunks of potatoes in the indian watery "tarkari".
The palak paneer was too ordinary to mention. But the kingfisher beer was great.
With prices of main ranging from $25 to $30, it puts this place in league of top Indian restaurants.
And yes, except for the picturesque lower reserve, the feeling of the food being from a small cafe in dandenong was complete, including the cutlery, just the price was double.
Brilliant service and fantastic food, perfect way to celebrate an achievement or just to celebrate for the sake of it!
Butter chicken was extremely sweet. Even when they said it will be Punjabi butter chicken. Atleast the food need to reach half of the quality of how butter chicken tastes.
Service was prompt. Drinks served quickly and finished dishes were cleared away promptly without being intrusive within our group booking
The food is not Indian. No salt, no spice. I assume, they have customized for other customers. May be someone likes it. Not me.
I had lunch yesterday. Female who attended was marvelous and the food was not that bad. I went for dinner today just now and the person who attended (sounds like an owner) was arrogant and rude. I won't recommend this place specially to Indians.
