T. Cavallaro & Sons reviews
39Cannelloni is always good although a little pricey (particularly for the area). Nonetheless you get what you pay for! Sadly in these really difficult times where people are unable to keep their businesses afloat, I tried to buy three coffees but I was advised that the coffee machine had already been switched off (15 minutes earlier) bad the store closes at 4: 00pm.so a note to everyone-be sure to get in really early!
With coffee and cannelloni made fresh. There are also great lemon tarts and other Italian pastries. No wonder this patisserie is popular even during lockdown!
We found out about Cavallaro only yesterday evening, while picking up our dumplings order from next door shop. We decided to come back today for a walk and coffee and I am so glad we did it.
Cavallaro is an historical Sicilian Pasticceria in Footscray since 1956, as a commemorative placard says at its entrance.
The nice lady behind the counter welcomed with a nice smile and before we knew it, she offered us almond biscotti (almond paste is typical Sicilian pastry tradition) and suggested to have some cannoli take away (to which we agreed immediately). The cannoli are fresh filled with either ricotta cream or custard, both fresh made in their laboratory.
We bought also the almond biscuits. I would have bought much more (like Crostoli, typical from Venice Carnival) or Rossana’s, but I know I will be back very soon.
We had also some nice chat with the lady, who explained us how they made their biscuits, cannoli and much more
Loved the hand written receipt for “cornetti” framed in the wall.
Grazie e a presto!
They make amazing canoli and other sweets.
Would have given 5 stars, but it can get a bit cramped inside.
Amazing little shop that provides the most delicious biscotti and cannoli. Service is always friendly and expedient with a good selection of treats to satisfy the most ardent sweettooths.
Highly recommend, very warm and assisted us with our request easily. The cannoli and binge were delicious, by far the best in town. Definitely worth a trip to Footscray to get your hands on one of their delicious treats, you will not be disappointed! All I can say is our hunt for the best cannoli and binge is now over because we have found them at T. Cavallaro & Sons.
The best tasting ricotta cannolis you will find in Melb, freshly made and the staff and so friendly and show true local support.
Used to always get cakes here as a kid. I hadn't been back in years and just recently had the cannoli, best in town without a doubt. I'll be visiting again soon
Best cannoli in Melbourne maybe outside of Sicily too! Love visiting always treated like family and the treats are delicious. Cannot fault it, give it 10/5
Wow. Is heard about this place from several people, and it lives up to the boast - best cannolis in Melbourne! Made fresh while you wait. Sicilian style cannoli with plenty of coffee, cakes and other good stuff as well. Do yourself a favour.
This place is an institution. The best traditional Italian desserts in Melbourne I reckon. They are legendary for their Cannoli's.
Having travelled throughout Sicily, I was told that Mineo had the "best" cannoli in the world, I had to try one. Very disappointed I was to be honest although my thoughts immediately went to the many years of patronage we have enjoyed at Cavallaro & Sons and how I missed your cannoli. One of the first things I did when I returned from my overseas trip was to buy cannoli from you. They are absolutely divine and second to none! Over the many years that we have purchased your products, in particular your cannoli, they have not changed in quality or taste. Your hard work continues and so will our patronage!
Have just been back again after two years away and took my boyfriend who has never been and it is even better than I remembered! The crispy pastry is perfect. Lovely family service (around 63 years!) Everyone is friendly and warm. A must visit!
One of the best ricotta cannoli I’ve had in Melbourne. Crispy cannoli shells generously filled with ricotta with bits of candied fruits. At $4 a piece (takeaway), I’ll save it for treat days.
The most delicious cannoli you can get. And the staff is so friendly. It's like stepping inside another era
Did you know the best cannoli in Melbourne comes from a store in Footscray that has been open since the 1950's? If you didnt know this, you need to get educated.
This is my go to when I'm in Footscray. I stop off here and ask for some cannoli which they do on site so you're not getting off the shelf stuff. I love the ricotta filled ones but the chocolate and vanilla ones are also spectacular.
Service is friendly and authentic, run by the family. This place is so Melbourne.
I am in Sicily right now and have tried cannoli each day and I have to say that I prefer your cannoli so much more! Perfect mix of ricotta, almonds and cinnamon. They are made way too sweet here in Sicily!
I come for the ricotta cannoli and leave satisfied. The best I've ever had and good value for money. They're even open Sundays!
Their Ricotta Cannoli is absolutely amazing! Great people, great history, just a superb small business run with endless pride & passion
