Studio J Dance

After doing 2 terms with StudioJ, I can confidently say that it is the best Bollywood dance studio in Melbourne. The teachers are extremely talented and explain every step in detail. I always wanted to learn Bhangra and Josh made my dream come true. Thanks for being simply amazing at what you do!

I joined Studio J last year and it has been the best decision I made! In addition to the incredible dances and the fun of learning the choreo, I feel like I’ve become part of a community! It’s so inclusive and happy!
With the current virus pandemic, they managed to very quickly get the classes online on a livestream and as a result, I was able to join MORE classes during covid rather than give up on this activity!

Continuing dance classes online through Studio J has been nothing short of fantastic (a godsend, really, amidst all the uncertainty and being in lockdown in Malaysia!). The effort and dedication shown by Divya, Jaya, and Josh to ensure that the quality (and physical intensity!:) of our weekly lessons have not been compromised and that students still feel a sense of community through dance (never mind the physical distance!) has been brilliant and truly appreciated. I cannot thank them enough!

Wow, finally a dance school that knows how to do online classes right! You really feel like you’re in the studio in person. But not only that, the teachers and admin crew are really friendly and welcoming, always going out of their way to make sure everyone is looked after. Classes are dynamic and fun, made up of a great balance of warm up, technique drills, choreo and feedback (for those who want it). Defs recommend checking them out!

Hi, I am one of the bhangra beginner student who finished the 1st term in studio but now due to unfortunate covid-19, forced everyone to stay home. But even though, as this is the tough time i am really really thankful to Josh and Jaya as they never stopped any term in between and tried their best to teach us via live sessions on zoom. Thats really awesome bcz these live sessions we can practice as many times as we can. I wish studio J good luck and thank you for giving us this awesome service and change of mind with Josh energetic dance moves. Hope to see everyone soon in the studio again.

Although I only managed to attend a few classes in-studio before the lockdown, Studio J struck me as the kind of place that would end up being my go-to, almost like a second home. The transition to online classes was very smooth. The teachers are highly skilled as well, and I like the effort made to ensure that everyone's dancing experience at home is the best that it can be. Hope to return to the studio soon (:

I started South Indian Street style at Studio J. I must say that all the instructors who teach here are uniquely talented. They pay attention to each and every student and help them improve. I absolutely love this place! The vibe is so positive and inclusive, it’s no wonder that all the students keep going back every term. All the teachers are so lovely and each class so different - there is something for everyone.

Highly recommended. I took two trial classes of two different styles and couldn’t help myself in enrolling in both. The teachers are awesome and it’s so structured that you learn so much alongside having fun. Both G and Divya are amazing teachers I also suggest to start kids batches as well if possible

I have been going to Studio J for Bolly hip hop dance class from last 2 terms. Studio J has very friendly environment. Our teacher Gerard is very polite, patient and fun teacher to learn dance. He has this unique way of teaching where he creates humour and make it easier for student to understand every step.

I would highly recommend Studio J to everyone who wants to learn and enjoy dance.

I joined bolly HipHop beginners, Gerard was my instructor, the best thing about him is he teaches even a difficult step in detailed way so that you can understand it better, he also provide suggestion on how can we improve the steps. If he sees some steps are not coordinated properly he changes little to make it easy. As it the last batch of the year we even had to chance to perform on stage. Which was amazing because that encourages you to show performance to your friends and family. If you had a big break from dance and you are not sure whether to able dance again this is very good platform to start again.

StudioJ has been such a great experience! The classes are fun, filled with lots of laughter and killer dance moves! I recommend everyone to join and be a part of the amazing StudioJ family!

Studio Jis the one stop to learn all styles of Bollywood. No one can do better than Studio J. Josh is my fav. She makes the dance easy and every steps makes sense. Studio J gave me many reasons to happy about myself and see what's good in me. I would highly recommend to take a trial class and experience the new you.

Very good community, class is not too cramp. Teachers are experienced and fun. You don’t need to be a great dancer to join the class so many time I can’t do the same what teachers do. But don’t worry if they jump and you can’t if they bend and you still stand just keep your body move shake shake shake with big smile and enjoy it. You will feel amazing with the end of the course you just can’t stop jumping, moving and one hour class won’t be enough anymore.

I love Studio J. I was looking for a bhangra class, and I found the studio. Jaya did everything so I could find a class that would fit my schedule. Today, and for almost a year now, the bolly-bhangra class - amazing fusion between the energy and power of bhangra and the fun of bollywood - is the moment I look forward to each week. Studio J is an incredible place to learn dance, to get fit and to meet the most amazing bunch of people. In the beginning of this year I joined the Studio J family and I’ve honestly had the most positive and rewarding experience. As someone who has always wanted to dance but has been afraid, the teachers at Studio J have encouraged me to give it a go and supported me every step of the way.
