IM NOT SURE WHAT ALL THE POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE ABOUT? , ''BATTERED SAVS'' THAT ARE ''HOTDOGS'' with little batter.potato cakes.that are.straight out of ''the box'' ''pre battered'' and ''FLAKE'' that was dry.at least it wasnt off. JUST WASTED $39.00. WHAT A JOKE.

It's refreshing to see a young gentleman, Steve
(the friendly giant) in this field and too excel in quality, taste and service. The passion to his business shows clearly.

Unfortunately gone down hill lately really is hit or miss burgers are tasteless and they don't toast the bun i always ask for chips crispy some times they do sometimes they don't.

I only order chips from here but they’re the best in Ballarat, everything else they make looks great also!

Ordered over the phone, on arrival I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff.
Very clean and well organised shop.
I was thanked and wished a good day as I left.
Really good fish n chips, definately recommend trying Steve's shop out.

Food has been consistently delicious each visit. Steve's is our go-to fish and chips spot for months now.

Went for the first time after hearing everyone rave about it. Chips were good and decent size. The fish (butterfish) was absolutely disgusting.
For $7 I got an old dried out piece of fish with tough batter. Not freshly battered that day. I’ve worked in a fish shop and can tell instantly it’s old stock. Will not return.

Fast prep time for arrival just after lunch rush. Good variety. Decent pricing. But one of the better fish and chip shop 'burger with the lot' I have had in a while.

Want great fish and chips. You cant go past Steve's Beautiful chips enjoyed by the lake well worth the time to stop by

Souvlakis were tasty but small. The souvlaki bread stuck to the paper it was wrapped in making it a mess to eat.

Tasty big fluffy chips. The highlight of the meal.

Disappointed to see a fridge full of pre-battered fish. Why not just batter and fry fresh? It would be so much better.

Not bad but definitely room for improvement.

Fish is really decent sized, cooked perfectly and actually is flake instead of some cheap substitute like hake.love that they do gravy now however it’s really small serving for the price. Probably would make my own gravy next time but other than that I will always come here for my fish. 10/10 never had an issue. Chips are okay but really yellow coloured (not chicken salt) so unsure what preservatives they use on those.

OK, The service was excellent, with friendly staff who seemed to actually care about their job. But the fish was average, chips were just OK. I'm yet to find the perfect fish n chip shop in Ballarat. I hate the way it seems to be common place for fish to be bettered and half cooked then refrigerated before cooking when ordered. The end result is over cooked, greasy tasting fish. What happened to fish being dipped in batter to order. Worth the wait.

Now thats some crispy fish and chips!
Glad i continued to look for a steak burger after the disaster i tried for lunch.

Would not recommend, fish was dry the potato cakes were the same, thank God for the chips, they were good. I will not be going back!

Fresh, crispy fish. And those steak burgers are always my go to when I'm back in town.
Seems you have some haters around town in other fish shops, one in Ballarat east Vic st in particular.
Keep up the great work mate you're obviously hurting them if a manager is going to write fake reviews on here to try burn you.

Great fish and chips. By far the best fish and chip shop in this town. Great quality food and great service will be recommending your food to every one.

Tried to ring 5 times last night, no answer. Walk in to find it not very busy at all. But Ordered anyways because I was hungry and had been driving all afternoon in the truck. I waited 45 minutes for half of my meal to be wrong, and the food was soggy, Majority ended up in the bin as it was far from enjoyable. I will come back on my way through to talk to management and hopefully by leaving this comment for reference, i can get a refund when I return.
