Hands down - the best on the Peninsula! The service, atmosphere, value and food is consistently impressive. Highly recommended.

We were celebrating a special occasion for two other couples. Steam was the perfect restaurant, the service was fast, efficient and friendly. The nine course set menu had something for everyone, with the courses being well explained and served with enough time between each. Drinks were supplied quickly with regular top-ups as was water. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

The quality of the food here was on par with some of the most prestigious restaurants in Melbourne and paid 1 third the price. We’ll definitely be coming back.

I loved coming here in the past as they have always been so accomodating but they were so condescending to us and made us feel stupid. The food is great but the whole dinner vibe was ruined because of how we were treated from the staff and we truly wanted to leave but we felt so rude. I feel so disappointed that I have to write this review but the experience from the staff ruined our whole dining experience and it wasn’t even like we weren’t spending money, we were and treated so poorly.

My partner and I had the vegan banquet option. An amazing assortment of vegan Asian fusion cuisine, delicious at every step, and great value for money. We were both stuffed by the end, and an amazing refreshing tapioca dessert as a finisher. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fine meal in the area. Further, the staff were under the pump, being short staffed, but all maintained a friendly and most professional demeanour. Thanks so much!

Our dinner for our combined birthdays was exquisite. The choice of dishes available was excellent and the service was outstanding. Our waitress took great care to ensure that we enjoyed our evening and arranged for two dishes to be served without chili which was ideal. We didnt manage the last two courses and went home with containers so that we could enjoy them at a later date. Fabulous!

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant. The service is unmatched. All of the waitresses were so friendly and kind. Megan was extremely attentive and welcoming. The staff truly cares about your experience. So inviting and warm. The food is absolutely amazing – everything I tasted melted in my mouth. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The chef is fantastic. Absolutely the best meal I have had in a while. Highly recommend.

Disappointed with our recent visit. We have been to steam numerous times and loved it each time, except for last night. The staff were confused, giving us mixed messages on more than one occasion. Staff were dismissive and condescending when trying to order (especially with dietaries) which was never the case previously. As a group of 8 we felt extremely uncomfortable after the way we were spoken to and ended up taking the final ‘large plate’ away with us. Disappointed to have to post this review but the new ownership/management/staff was very average. The food was amazing as always however!

This used to be our favourite restaurant in Rye. Seems that ownership has recently changed as all of the staff were new and didn’t know what they were doing. So many mixed messages, everyone told us something different in terms of how we were supposed to order. We got the $68pp banquet and it was way too much food and couldn’t choose what we wanted. Would have fathered paying $68 for something we actually wanted. Staff were dismissive and condescending. Won’t be rushing back if we have to get the banquet every time.

This was our second visit it was even better than the last the food the service no complaints at all only compliments to the whole staff

It was our first time here and it was a truly splendid experience. We tried The Showcase - a nine course banquet. Each course was presented beautifully and prepared/cooked to perfection. The sauces accompanying the various dishes were delicious, although a word of warning - a few were extremely salty. Dietary requirements are apparently catered for, but I'm not sure if that would include adjusting the flavour profile of a dish as such. Don't get me wrong - the flavours were phenomenal, so no complaints from me, but one person in our party found that aspect a little challenging. We had some delicious cocktails before dinner, however we didn't have any wine with our meal. Wines can be matched with each dish, so I'm keen to come back one of these days to enjoy the full gastronomic experience.

Just amazing food, the consistency of the flavours and remarkable! This is a must to go if you missed this one! Same goes for the staff, just super friendly and helpful when selecting from the menu.

Great atmosphere, great staff and the food is absolutely delicious! So good to have a fabulous local restaurant!

Have had mixed results at Steam. Some really spectacular food (goyoza). And some OK but not to write home about. From last night's takeaway - Nasi Goreng - the best around. The family *really* liked the veg Masaman. The Panna cotta, I turfed. Probably me, some might like the astringent and bitter tastes in a dessert.

Recommended by a work colleague of my partners. Great service, Delicious food, Fresh juicy oysters right outta the tank situated in the dining room
What more can i say but "make a booking" and enjoy!
