Starfish Swim School

My last review prompted a call from Starfish reception last Monday, but they ended up telling me that they would refund my fees for the next term if I don't take off my last review, instead of acknowledging their mistake. They even asked me my card details. But to my astonishment their response here is completely opposite to the conversation. The staff behaved rudely just because my mobile payment app wasn't working and they thought I was wasting their time, and not because of the reason mentioned here. They told me that there was a queue building up, but I don't agree that justifies losing your patience. Disappointed once again. This is definitely our last term here.

The swimming staff is very good but reception staff is really rude. They lack basic quality of customer service which is patience. And they snap at you.

BJ and his team are amazing, friendly and accommodating and provide quality swimming instruction in a purpose built facility that is clean and inviting for the kids. The parent viewing area is fantastic with a play area for siblings and coffee is available too!
Both my kids have learnt to swim here and I couldn’t be happier.

We love Starfish Swim School. BJ and his amazing team have taught all my 4 (water cautious!) sons to swim, first in the original pool and now in the amazing, new, purpose built facility. Highly recommend Starfish to any locals looking for a more intimate pool, it’s family run, friendly and they get the best out of your kids in the pool!

We tried a few other local swimming schools before finding Starfish. We are very happy here. Our kids have progressed so much fast than our other experiences. We receive feedback each term about their progress. The staff are so helpful and the coaches are great. They are flexible and very accommodating, you can always make up a missed class. Its also a very comfortable environment to watch your child's class, you can choose to sit poolside, our behind a glass section that has comfortable seating, there is even a space for younger siblings to play. It is such a clean facility too. Very happy customer!

My kids have been doing swimming lessons at Starfish swim school for 2 years now. They are progressing very well & all the teachers are fantastic. We always get a friendly welcome from reception & as a bonus they sell coffee!

Loving our time at Starfish. Staff fantastic and kids enjoying their lessons. Make ups easy to book. Facilities are top notch and clean.

The best thing about starfish is the swim teachers. All very experienced. They don’t change often so your kids have consistency and they get to know what your child is like. And you can schedule makeup classes if your child is sick or away.

The staff were intially friendly, however once we raised a concern about the teacher, we then saw their true side. Rude, arrogant and unhelpful. The pool is very noisy as there are multiple lessons happening at once, including adults alongside babies.the changing facilities are small and overcrowded. The teachers shout and are not particularly friendly.
We would recommend trying GESAC instead where the teaching and facilities are excellent.

Best swimming pool in bayside for the little ones. Hard to get parking, allow extra 10 minutes.

We tried a couple of swim schools and none compares to Starfish. I’ve lost count how many years we’ve been at Starfish now. BJ and his team have never failed us. Our kids love going to their swimming classes and have advanced dramatically. We’ve always had excellent teachers, the pool is super clean and modern, the admin team communicates well with us and all processes are streamlined. I particularly appreciate the flexibility to book in to make up classes.

My oldest was quite shy and didn't want to get in the water. Due to great teaching patience and a supportive, friendly atmosphere you can't get her out now! The staff know everyone by name, new and CLEAN facilities and flexibility to make up swimming lessons all count towards a great swim school. Highly recommend!

Really happy with Starfish - they continue to improve the swim school experience for the kids and parents including the grading process. Amazed to see the improvement in our kids swimming ability!

Excellent swim school for kids of all ages including babies. The facilities and pool are well designed and clean. Staff are highly competent, friendly, and fun. Always relaxed good vibes and a community atmosphere. Plus they serve coffee!

We love Starfish Swim School.my son looks forward to it every Saturday morning. He has come such a long way to being completely uncomfortable in the water to being confident and competent. Great instructors, friendly staff, not to mention the delicious coffee I get every time! Thanks Starfish, 5 stars!

I've been coming to star fish swim school weekly for over a year now and love how confident my 2 year old has become in the water. The staff are both friendly and professional creating a family friendly environment, with toys to keep siblings occupied and coffee on site:). The facilities and change rooms are next to new and always kept clean. Most importantly its local, and there is plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy their little ones. Highly recommend it.

I've been really impressed with the quality of the staff and the lessons. My grandaughter started in a beginners class, and several of the children were really frightened - so much so that they wouldn't even get in the water. I watched Jamie entice them in very gently, using toys and distraction and praise and "high fives". She got each child into the water and within the course of the term, they all became confident enough to hold their breath and put their faces under water and even to "dive" with assistance from the side of the pool.
I am a teacher of many years, and I thought Jamie did a brilliant job at looking after 5 three year olds and making what I thought was great changes in their confidence and capability.

My daughters have been swimming here for 3 terms now. The water here is clean (which was the big draw for me to begin with). The staff are friendly and courteous and remember almost everyone by name. The shower rooms are clean too but not private stalls. The pool can only be used in swim school hours and they do not give pool access outside of session times for practice. That's the one thing g that would have been good to have. Parking is a bit tricky (as there are very few slots in the facility and it's mostly off street parking) but we do end up finding a spot soon enough

New, clean, amazing swim school with the best staff. Been here for years with first born and will start with second child soon. 5 stars to the starfish team
