St Domenico Pizza Bar reviews
81I and my friends had a great catch up there. Absolutely love their authentic Italian cuisine, pizza was great with tender and thin base and great service.i highly recommend!
A little gem with very good Italian cuisine, and good service! Pizza is really tasty with thin crust, the pasta and gnocchi are rich and delicious, and the salad is very fresh. Kids approved! I highly recommend this place.
A couple years ago, I used to get takeaway pizza here all the time and it was delicious. (I’m gluten intolerant). Actually went for a dinner in the restaurant today with high expectations and I was SO disappointed with the GF pizza. It used to be thin, nicely chewy, fluffy and crispy, but tonight it was thick, hard and stodgy, dry and crumbly, and honestly seemed like a cheap frozen store bought base. I got the Salsiccia and it says it’s sausage mince but it was pretty flavourless. Super disappointed. Anyway, for gluten free people I do not recommend and I will not be going back.
No doubts to recommend this fantastic italian pizza place to anybody. Lovely staff and great food
Lovely little restaurant on bridge road. Cozy atmosphere, modern decor and great food. Do not miss if you are in Richmond.
My partner and i have been about 5 times through the last couple years, we have always enjoyed. They have made some changes latly, the prices have gone up however the gnocchi has gotten better and the serving sizes are bigger so i believe it is worth it!
From the moment you get to the front of the restaurant. You know it the management approaching the front door to open it and make you feel welcome and at home.
We are seated and going through the menu was so mouthwatering so making a choice of what to order so we decided to ordered the antipasto as a starter and it was an amazing then follow by the arancini, pasta and then pizza. After all that we still have dessert to go through let me tell you what an experience of Italian cuisine a must do in your list
Edit 11/07/2023: I haven't been here for a long time and I think I saw an update that management changed hands a while back. It's unfair that a rating from years ago still stands so I'll update to 5 because why not you know.
The service was alright overall, the mildly-condescending Italian server added to the authentic Italian feel of the place.
The prices were only slightly above average for pizza places in the area.
The pizza itself was inedible. The pizza was delivered to the table in around 5 minutes, which suggests it was not freshly made. The flavour was very poor. The dough, as some others have noted has an almost sour flavour. The fior di latte was flavourless. I don't know if this type of cheese is meant to be like this, but it looked like cheese, had the texture of cheese.but tasted like nothing. It was quite fascinating actually.
I ate one and a half slices before giving up. I tried to salvage some of the ingredients by scraping them off of the pizza and using them on my own base with some other ingredients. It was alright, but not my best pizza. I usually make them with a lot of chilli and pepperoni and drink a beer or
red wine, but avoid white wine as it often gives me a headache later.
I didn't meet the owner/manager so I can't comment on him or his personality. He might be a really lovely guy with a nice personality, or he might be a rude and difficult person like 30 or so wrote.
2/5
Best pizza in the Richmond area! Authentic, fresh and quality ingredients, so delicious, pasta looked good too but am yet to try. Also a very tasty lambrusco. We'll be back!
Great Wednesday night dinner with family. The people, the delicious food, the amazing service, & the atmosphere. It was so welcoming. We honestly could not find fault. We ll be back.
Really enjoyed the bottomless gnocchi, it was perfect! The service was disappointing however, not friendly at all
Came here with my wife for our wedding anniversary with our 1.5yr old son. Ordered calamari entree, salami pizza, and truffle pasta. All of the food was absolutely delicious at very reasonable prices. The females wait staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and a credit to the business. The venue was clean with a great ambiance. Highly recommend a visit. Well worth it
Beautiful food beautiful atmosphere wonderful people will definitely be returning and recommending
Ordered two pizzas, one was overcooked and burnt around the edges and the other was undercooked. Both pizzas were thrown together without a lot of care for where the toppings were distributed and they weren't cut properly which was frustrating to rip apart while the toppings were falling off.
St Domenico is an institution in Richmond. Consistently good food and i can tell you their gnocchi are to die for.
How could I have ever gone to any other pizza place ever? St Do's is perfection. I am an avid gluten eater but my husband has a severe gluten allergy. At most pizza places, he’ll order gluten free (if their practices are safe enough) and I’ll order regular. Not here! Whenever we’re here, I’m eating gluten free with him because I literally cannot tell the difference. It’s SO RIDICULOUSLY GOOD!
What a disappointment. Ordered 2 pastas and a pizza, and nothing was up to standard. The gnocchi was tough with no flavour but the acidity from a very bad brand of tomato paste. The pappardelle was undercooked and stuck together. The meat in that dish was off and no flavour was placed in that same awful sauce used in the gnocchi. Last but not least, the pizza was soggy, the vegetables were drenched in a weird concoction of herbs that did nothing for the yet again, tomato sauce. Not to mention the service was cold and uninviting. It felt as if I was overstepping in a place I wasn’t invited, but sadly I was the one who had to pay for the very overpriced and underwhelming food. Very disappointed by the experience.
Very disappointing. Waste of money for the bottomless gnocchi, it wasn't a good meal at all. The service was non existent unfortunately. Give this place a miss, there are much better out there.
Amazing food and amazing place.
Seriously the BEST ITALIAN FOOD IVE HAD! And that’s hard for me to say! The gnocchi melts in your mouth, and the pizza is light and fluffy
Well done Salvatore.
Me and my friend booked for 6pm. Our plans finished earlier so we went at 5 (when they said they were open) and they were closed. Nobody seen inside. 5: 15 return and still nobody to be seen store still closed. So we went elsewhere. They then rang my friend who booked about 6 times, like just leave a voicemail? When she rang back, the person on the phone was VERY rude. And then STALKED her social media! And started being petty liking her content. Actually crazy. Glad we didn’t go there
