Sri Ananda Bhavan undeniably serves up some delicious food that left my taste buds delighted. The culinary experience was impressive, and the flavors were top-notch.

However, the one drawback that's hard to ignore is the price. Dining here can be quite expensive, which may give pause to budget-conscious diners. While the quality of the food justifies the cost to some extent, it's worth considering whether the splurge aligns with your dining expectations.

In summary, Sri Ananda Bhavan offers a memorable dining experience with excellent cuisine, but be prepared to open your wallet for the privilege.

We have been here now a few times. First about logistics. It is situated in a great place with parking for about 15 cars. There's street parking in addition. No issues here. Now about ambience. The place is spacious, cool and the seating is very comfortable. The food variety is substantial and taste is authentic. We've always had a good time here. My favourite is the filter coffee. I usually start and end my meals with one.

The best south Indian restaurant in this side of Melbourne. Tried combo, dosa and Indo Chinese and could rarely fault any. I'm quite fussy about my South Indian food.

Went here as wanted to give them a try. Regret not reading the reviews and going just with the Google rating of 4.1 After so many options on the Menu that looked tempting we decided to try the usual with Idly, medu vada and dosa. Vada was not fresh and chewy same for Idly. Was expecting Dosa to be good but then again got disappointed. Left most of the food. Even the Dosa tasted sweet: (. Not going back To top it up an upset stomach makes me dread making this visit.

We have driven past many times and tonight decided to venture in to grab some take away.
Lady greeted us at the door and gave us a menu to look at. I think she could tell we were not sure what to order and came over and was very helpful in giving us advice. We ordered 2 dishes and thoroughly enjoyed it (even the non vegetarian) and will enjoy it for lunch tomorrow too!

The food was really good and tasted so well I was really happy with the fast service and the good quality of the food received. Our waiter was absolutely amazing! I was overwhelmed with happiness. It was gushing out of me.

Restaurant has nice service and is clean. I tried the Masala Dosa, dosa and coconut chutney where nice.

However, I found the potato in the dosa and the sambal was quite watery and lacking spices/flavour.

Bought Ananda Bhavan special fried rice, Madhu vada and Onion chili rava masala dosa.

Vada and Dosa together with sambar and sambal were crisp and good but the fried rice was a shame to call fried rice.

Rice was kind of parboiled rice that's not at all suitable for the dish, veggies and rice were not fried. It neither tasted good. I've eaten fried rice from many restaurants and cooked myself as well, but this was the worst I've ever eaten.

It was a celebratory occasion for us and choose to celebrate with Indian food and this place was recommended by one of our friend. We were 7 of us including kids. Everything was spot on and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. Yes, you can start saying this could have been better, that could have been better, but all items were better comparatively with other restaurants and mind you this is South Indain tamilnadu style and can vary with what you have been used to. Some wow items - kalyana sapad, gobi manchurian, pineapple kesari bath, all dosa item, dhai papdi chat, tomato chutney, and of course filter coffee.

Food is great. A bit on the expensive side.

I ordered take away directly over the phone and was told that the order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. It took more than 45 minutes to finally collect the order. I understand that food delivery orders need to be fullfilled within a certain timeframe. However, customers who are trying to do the right thing by ordering directly should not be penalised.

I won't be returning in a hurry.

Visited this restaurant pretty much 4 years ago when it was newly opened before moving interstate & did left my feedback for providing us a good quality food with great service. Back to Melbourne again, thought should check it out this place again. I would say Gary & his team amazed me with the food options they got now & with same good quality food. Especially, Victorian hospitality industry had a tough time during Pandemic but seems like this restaurant doing good job in the community throughout the covid & I believe that’s the reason they are still there with the same passion which they had 4 years ago for their food & for their communities around them.

At Sri Ananda Bhavan the food is awesome and very authentic Indian tastes and flavours. The staff are excellent and the ambience is very comfortable. The staff greet you upon your arrival and lead you to the place to be seated. The overall cleanliness and hygiene at the restaurant is excellent

Worst Indian food i have ever tasted. No salt at all. Food was really old and and the sweets on the thali was awful. And the dosa was really bitter in taste with little bit of potato inside. Not even two spoonfuls. Really disappointed. Not recommend to anyone again. Chefs must taste food before they serve to customers cause they must know how awful the food taste like.

Amazing atmosphere, very courteous staff, but most of all the food was delicious. Best South Indian meals, I have tasted in Melbourne. Well done! Will definitely recommend this place and visit more often.
