Spring Street Grocer reviews
64Hidden in the basement of the grocery, the cheese shop is the simply the best place in Melbourne for tasty cheeses.
A little bit disappointed, was excited to try the sandwiches as I had heard nothing but good reviews, while the sandwich was tasty it was tiny and not really worth the price tag! It also took about 20min to prepare, so if you are going on your lunch break keep this in mind
Great place for Gelati! Also they sell lots of organic stuff and cool health foods that you won't find elsewhere!
Excellent little find! Right across the street from our Hotel, good range for a small shop. Friendly, efficient service.
Ordered skinny latte and a strong soy cappuccino there are ABSOLUTELY NO COFFEE IN IT, what a rip off, if I wasn’t in a hurry I would get a refund
A bit of a hole in the wall and just an extension of the shop - but the gelato is phenomenal! Try cardamon and almond, blew my mind
What the heck - the gelato here is actually off the charts. Pistachio, hazelnut, peanut butter - all magnificent. Very little seating room - service is probably just okay, but the gelato is so good it makes up for it.
Thank you to the fabulous lady in the cheese room today. Super helpful, wonderfully passionate and generous with her knowledge. An underground gem.
I just had the most delicious vegan and gluten free sandwich of my life! I had to double check with staff that the bread was actually GF as it was just too delicious. I'll be back, best sandwich ever!
Totally magnificent! Had a quite stop here for ice cream and it was a treat for your tastebuds. Creamy, smooth and "not-too-sweet". I surely comeback here again the next time we come back to melbourne.
This place don't allow customers to access toilets and they use terrible soy milk (rather than the standard Bonsoy perfection) and only serve it 'take-away'. Lets hope this place chokes to death on waste ASAP.
Come here for the gelato if you are in the area! Hidden cheese shop downstairs is perfect if you love cheese, overall products are generally overpriced.
Great friendly service. Amazing gelato. The grocer is great too selling unique Italian produce. The downstairs cheese room is outstanding too. Cinque stars.
Ordered a sandwich 30 mins before pick up as this place takes 15 mins at least. 30 mins later they advised the order was not put through, so had to wait another 15 mins as we couldn't be prioritised over other orders! Gave us a free juice but wasted over 45 mins to get a sandwich. This is the 3rd time in a row we have had to wait over 15 mins for an average sandwich. Really not worth it if you want a quick lunch on the run, won't be returning.
I came here for the cheese and I was not disappointed. Staff were super friendly and helpful telling me what their favourites were and what I should put together on a cheese plate. Every single one of their suggestions was devine including the biscuits and quince paste. Will absolutely be back =)
Absolutely delicious ice cream if you're looking for dessert around the theatres or just looking to treat yourself! Simple flavours but really smooth and creamy ice cream. The salted caramel, and the pistachio ice cream are particular favourites. Probably one of the best ice cream places in Melbourne, so make sure to go visit! Near to some amazing restaurants on Collins Street too!
The ladies serving the gelato have VERY off putting customer service.when i ask them to describe the flavour of the exotic selections, they roll their eyes and say "i don't know". They never smile or greet you, you have to wave to catch their attention and they take so long to walk to you, they really give off the vibes that they don't care about you.the gelati is very soft, very fresh flavour.unfortunately TINY portions though.and very expensive so i didn't get seconds.
Great sandwiches for lunch, with a superb selection of drinks! Can be a bit of a wait, so give yourself some time.
Very interesting, if pricey, deli / grocer. Behind the dry goods rack you will find a spiral staircase - follow it down to the cheese cellar with an interesting selection of local and European cheeses. Pity they don't offer to let you taste before you buy. In the refrigerator behind the counter you can see huge wheels of cheese - makes you wonder how they got them down there!
A superb collection of delicious & fresh food, so well curated and such a wonderful environment. Visit the fromagerie downstairs!
