Southland Shopping Centre reviews
69Worst security services and security people. I Had a very bad experience with them never going back in that centre again… they don’t wanna do anything just passing their work to other person……
Very delicious D'OH cakes - I even wore a Homer Simpson top to eat it - I looked delicious also. Then i ordered a potatoe pancake dish my friend recommended - delicious. Great work Pancake Parlour
Great place to shop has everything you need under the one roof always a delight to shop there
Great shopping centre. Very clean with a wide variety of stores. Delicious cafes and restaurants to drink and eat at. Enjoy and chill with friends or a loved one.
Not a fan of big crowds but this place has everything you would possibly need to find in a shopping centre. Get there early to beat the crowd and it's a pleasant experience all round.
The shops were great and so is the cinemas! But some shops falsely advertise their open times
Disgusting taking advantage of shoppers with parking fees. Time limits could have been better thought out, A set 5hr limit would have given shoppers better outcomes, and fees could apply after that. All the money coming in should be used to upgrade disgusting toilets. Also escalators need upgrading without steps so more people with wheel chairs and prams have better access to other levels. Most lifts are always crowded with risks of Covid spreading. Without customers shopping the big Centers would not survive
I hadn’t been to Southland for many years. It’s huge and difficult to navigate if you don’t have local knowledge.
A 3rd class mall in the 1st class suburban area of Bayside, featuring it's very own railway station (in the future 2 stations) and well connected with public transport. Once it was on par with Chadstone (Australia's largest shopping centre with a great range of shops), it is still a medium sized centre with a simple linear layout so you won't get lost.
Sadly, in recent years Southland has to make do with repainting, despite a dearth of upmarket stores, hap-hazard pay-parking, dated interiors and amenities, and very limited dining options. Head to The Glen, Chaddy, or Emporium if you're looking for leading shops or restaurants.
Most entrances are not pedestrian- friendly, so you may have to cross a lot of car parking or roadway to get to many of the centres' doors.
Most recently some bright spark decided that putting speed humps across the middle of all the parking spaces was a good idea, so we now need a lot of acceleration just to get into our out of the parking space, unless you have a 4WD.
Prefer over chaddy however it’s seems a bit ran down and forgotten about it needs a facelift or some new shops or something
It is quite rare for us to visit this Westfield shopping centre as it is not located near our usual hangout places. Good easy to find parking despite busy crowds during weekend and lots of shopping variety to satisfy Christmas gift list. The mall management did well to curate the right mix of shops catering for all age and price range!
Went by train and was very happy with the experience. No problem trying to find a car park. Excellent shopping.
I absolutely love Southland Shopping Centre, I personally think it's the best all round Shopping centre in Melbourne along with Chadstone only the parking is less stressful at Southland, it has just about every store you can think of.
I highly highly Recommend Westfield Shopping Centre Southland!
Great shopping cinemas, with great shops, great restaurants and most importantly; great cinemas. Parking is not usually an issue and there is a station on the west side near coles. Never disappoints.
They charge a fortune for parking no upgrades/repairs to the centre old toilets and not enough cubicles in the toilets sorry the only good thing about this place is the shortcut through the centre to catch the bus to chadstone.
Santa photos at the centre. 4 minute sessions. Just really bad inexperienced staff, bad photos, didn't know how to interact with children. Really disappointed, wasted my money.
Good now everything is open, Pitt they aren't like Fountain gate and have free parking, that place is awesome and my go to.
So you dont want customers to spend more than 3 hours spending money in your retailers? After 18 months of lockdowns you try and spend money to support small business and Westfield owners with Billions of dollars charge you $14 to park your car? I will tell everyone i know never to visit southland.
Horrible Westfield management here who shift blame for poor infrastructure. Am glad I don't work for retailer here anymore, I feel bad for him. Live local so no choice to shop here though. Kids run around and security just watch them and do nothing, dumb, no point have security, probably just have to fill state legal obligations.
As an employee at one of the many fantastic stores at Westfield Southland, I am dissapointed with how the centre management handles many of the service areas of the centre, as well as their approach to staff parking.
While I understand the introduction of the paid parking was brought about as a result of the opening of Southland station, its extension to staff members is inexcusable. $5 every day to park at the centre adds up to $1300 every year in parking fees for many employees who are earning minimum wage. We are the people who allow you to fill your spaces with stores, drive customers to the centre and keep Southland busy.
I understand the need for paid parking, don't get me wrong. I appreciate how you have made it free for a stay under 3 hours, allowing many customers to not have to worry about this. However, it would not have been hard to make an exemption for employees - simply allowing us to register our license plates, logging in the system that it is a staff vehicle. We park in the staff area, everyone is happy.
But no. Instead you decide to pull even more money out of us for the privilege of working at your centre.
All this would be more understandable if you actually did something good for us with the money. But that a no as well. I can't even count the number of times our young team members have been stuck in your service lifts. The state of the garbage disposal areas is appalling, and the lack of empathy from centre management regarding these issues is deeply concerning.
