Sole Motive reviews
53Fantastic experience at Sole Motive with Oscar. He was friendly and super helpful - made sure I got the product that was right for me rather than selling me whatever he could! One very happy customer - I’ll be back!
Great experience, was fitted for some comfy long distance running shoes and found the perfect pair.
A running store that cares.
These fine people helped me make a selection at both of their locations. There was a hot new shoe that no other running stores carried and they were able to get them for me.
The shoes ended up being defective, (not their fault) but they stood by the customer and got a full refund to me.
I was visiting from the states and I will not forget SOLE MOTIVE. I will send all my friends your way when they are in town.
Thank you again Jude & Felix for their stellar customer service!
Every interaction I have had with the staff here has been amazing. Signed up to the run Melbourne and the staff have been really great with running advice, shoe fittings and honestly are just really lovely people. Great range in the store too, they have some cute options.
Walked in, barely greeted and was not offered any assistance by the female assistant. Got my metaspeeds online instead. Not worth the trip into the city, shop local or online.
Went in to Sole Motive Melbourne shopping for trail shoes. We were assisted by Nathan who was friendly and helpful and went out of his way to help us (and have a banter about the football). 10/10 customer service.
A fantastic running store! Staff were super friendly and helpful. They had a treadmill to assess how my feet pronate to recommended the right shoes. I'm a new runner and would recommend this store if you want advice with what shoes to get.
I accompanied my niece to this store last Friday. She was wanting to purchase “trail shoes” we were served by Nathan.
What an incredible shopping experience, Nathan took time to listen to what my niece was after, suggested several shoes, collected her correct size and was just really helpful and friendly.
We will definetly return to this store- AWESOME EXPERIENCE - THANK YOU
Helpful staff and handy location for race bib collection as it's close to where I work. Good range of running gear too
Had an appointment to do a shoe fitting.i got a reminder email the day before reminding me of my shoe fitting appointment.show up to the store and was told my appointment has been cancelled.i wouldn't have mind if that they had to cancelled my appointment if they informed me of the cancellation instead they wasted my time.the frustrating and annoying thing is i have had great experiences in the past with Sole motive.not going back anytime soon.
I bought my running shoes online and was very satisfied: super shoes, very comfortable, vegan, super discount and very fast shipping! I recommend this shop!
Sole Motive always provide brilliant customer service. The guys at Hawthorn went out of their way to help me with some items that I wanted to purchase yesterday. Highly recommend!
Tain was extremely helpful, informative and patient! I’m very glad i stopped by here to get new running shoes
I was fitted by Paul yesterday and have to say it was the best customer experience I’ve had in years. He was so welcoming, understood my concerns with my pre injuries and found me the perfect pair of runners to get me back into regular running. The range of shoes were extensive and the options were great, really happy with my purchase! Highly recommend!
The best running shop I have come across. They have all the latest shoes in a large variety of brands. Good range of trail running shoes. Running machine to try them out. Great knowledge of products.
Beyond Incredible customer service! I am actually blown away by how good Felix and Sole Motive have been, Felix has gone above and beyond. I will be be back. 5 out of 5 Stars isnt enough!
Sad to say I purchased a brand new pair of ASICS online during COVID lock down and the runners turned up used. I wrote to them and they acknowledged that they would have been used on the treadmill etc and they were "like" new. I paid full price to support a small business when I could have gone to ASICS directly. I was offered a refund but the hassles of getting them back etc during lock down to much. Poor retail.
First time here. Good experience. They stocked the most popular models of most brands. Will be back again.
Specialist running shoe store in the heart of Melbourne and organisers of many runs such as Run Melbourne. Staff are knowledgeable but downside is not all brands are stocked such as New Balance.
So I just ran the Canberra marathon 2021 managed by Sole Motive. This is my third marathon. My two previous marathons were run in Melbourne and Busselton (a little town South of Perth in WA).
By this point I know what to expect in terms of provisions and facilities provided for runners. Now your average marathon has about 10 or so portaloos (portable toilets) every 5-10km or so. Every drink station has a combination of Electrolyte drink & water. This is normal. This is what you pay hundreds of dollars of entry fee for - along with the road closures, of course.
The Canberra marathon was rather different. The first toilet (ONE portaloo) was at the 12km point. By the time I got in there I was desperate. It seems I was not alone. I got a knock on the door from other desperate runners about every minute or so. Throughout the whole 42.2 kilometres I believe I saw 4 SINGLE portaloos in total - for thousands of run entrants to share.
Now let's get to the drink stands. At around the 25-35km point in the marathon I passed two drink stands with ONLY water. No electrolyte drink. No gels. Nothing. Just water.
I did bring some of my own provisions but a little bum bag can only hold so much. Needless to say I ran out of blood glucose & hit the wall. At this point I was so desperate for sugar I almost pulled out of the race.
Eventually I started coming last & got all the benefits that come with this: I had an entourage behind me. Finally my not so polite requests for sugar were met. I was kindly given a blue Powerade & lollies. I was very grateful for this! It was what allowed me to finish the marathon.
I feel sorry for the poor, kind volunteers who incurred my wrath firstly at the woefully inadequate toileting facilities and lastly at the stingy provision of electrolyte drink & gels. I'm used to marathon organisers actually providing for participants, you know, before they're fed up and coming last. I mean at one point I had to wipe myself (my backside) with a sultana packet because they didn't even provide enough toilet paper in the whole 4 portaloos on the entire 42.2 kilometre course.
TLDR: Please charge around $20-$30 more for your race entries (if needed) & actually provide enough toilets, electrolyte drink & gels - as is the norm in marathon running events
