Solargain - Melbourne

They team was great to deal with and honest (especially after I was shopping around with a number of foreign companies that were all about sales). We got out first bill since the install and it was ballpark what we were expecting. Highly recommend this business, it was a very smooth process.

The team at Solargain have been extremely diligent throughout the entire process - from initial contact thru to handover. They succeed where most fail by providing clear and efficient communication throughout every stage.
They explained in simple terms and where we asked for more detail they were more than happy to clarify.
If you’re getting multiple quotes for solar I would encourage you to include Solargain in the list.

I think I engaged about 5 companies for quotes and Solargain were very competitive for price and had a variety of quality options. I had Ben as the Solar Designer who did my quote and he came out to my house and did a thorough assessment, where others just did it on the phone. I also changed my mind several times on what system and size I wanted and Ben was nothing short of fantastic. Each time he would send me a revised quote in a timely manner, and provided advice and I hadn't even committed to Solargain yet. The customer service was fantastic and when I saw that they were recommended by Solar Quotes I signed up. Their install team were fantastic and explained everything so I could understand it. I am really happy I went with Solargain and I am very confident with the long warranties on the panels, install and inverter. Highly recommend Solargain.

Very Very disappointed I had a solar system installed by solargain in 2011 it was meant to be of acceptable quality as solargain promoted themselves as using the best products and longevity of systems on the market at the time. After only 4 years the inverter broke down being an Aurora 4.2 kw.

Solargain replaced the inverter only to last 6 years with the new inverter being an ABB inverter,

I have many friends whom used companies that aren't even around anymore and had inferior inverters used and yep they are still going 11 years later with no problems

I did have regular maintenance provided by solargain as directed to me by the technicians to promote longevity of the system.

All i can say is the customer service was great but the products that they used on my place (Aurora inverter and then the ABB inverter) are absolutely rubbish and both should of lasted a minimum of 10 years plus considering the initially outlay very very disappointed with the product. (IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD OF FOR PRODUCT! On the other hand the customer service i would happily give a 5 star!)

Great price, kept informed of everything and all my questions answered. They managed to expedite my installation which was nice. Friendly and helpful staff.

This Company is out standing they installed my system 4 years ago, and had no problems to date plus I have saved a heap of $$$ in energy cost. Thank you Solargain.

Solargain are very price competitive & offer a slick sales process, but unfortunately from there it has been all down hill. It took over 6 months from the date of agreement to install & whilst I acknowledge a lot of this was due to Covid19, the lack of communication was glaring (actually, it was non existent). Eventually I contacted them & threatened to take my business to another installer & miraculously I had an installation date within a few days.

Installers were untidy at best, with a lot of screws & wire ends left around out property & in gutters with no real effort was made to clean up - but in the end, the system was installed on the date promised.

After sales service is nothing short of a disgrace. Once connected to the grid the system was not reporting. They blamed it on wifi network issues, but as other devices nearby worked perfectly, I question this. Eventually as I received no response to multiple attempts to get this sorted through Solargain, I took it upon myself to install a cabled LAN & the system now reports correctly.

Recently the system was reporting a fault & it suggested I contact Solargain, which I did, but once again, I received no response from them. I suspect someone looked at it & turned the fault message off as it is not longer showing, but no communication has been forthcoming.

If you are price conscious & want to install high quality components, then Solargain may be a good choice for you. If communication & service is important, then I would STRONGLY recommend looking elsewhere.

Amazing from start to finish with our solar installation. The installers Jason, Jayden & Jarrad were absolutely wonderful & professional. Very happy with my solar experience!

I have installed the solar panels and with in two weeks inverter is not connecting to my wifi, and when I have contacted they say for technician you need to pay.
What the hell is my part is there in this, they have installed the device and if it is not working in order to fix they want to pay by me.

Such a ridiculous people they are, please think more than twice when you have decided to have business with them.

I installed a 6.6kW module/5kW inverter PV system, with an IStore 270L heat pump hotwater system from Solargain. I'm happy to say that it has exceeded my expectations, with the system providing all of the hot water that we need, only using solar energy. And the PV system is running flawlessly. Installation of the system was quick, efficient and very professional. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to move to powering their home from solar energy!

Very disappointed. Our system was installed on 5th January and paid for. We are still waiting for it to work on 15th February despite constant follow up.

Horrible horrible service. Took two months to get an issue inspected, have to call again and again, charging me about $300 for a 20 min inspection. Took almost a month to receive the inspection report and a quote, charging me over $4000 for just replacing the inverter and it can only happen mid next year, 7 months later! Switch to another provider, got the inverter replaced and 8 small panels replaced with 18 large panels at a even lower price and it happened within 10 days! I don't know why there are some people giving a five star rating, I just hate I can't give a zero. Btw, why I contacted them at the begining is because the broken solar system was installed by them. That is how they provide maintenance service.

Tom has been AMAZING to work with. The solar installation process is not an easy one if you dont really understand how it all works. There are so many elements to consider. Tom is just the best person to help navigate through this maze of calculations and options. He really does look out for the customers best interest and not just the $'s at the end. Highly reccommended.

That company has the worst customer service support. After 2 weeks of having the rebate and the loan approved. I haven't received any call to arrange the installation and when I call the excuse is that they are busy because of Covid. If you want solar panels from this company you have to beg them. If you choose this company, you will waste at least 3 months of your time doing the process.

Terrible customer support. I had issues with my rebate (which they kept instead of forwarding to me), monitoring (which took ages to sort out because they didn't even know what type of inverter they installed) and now they can't even give me information regarding my voltage cutoff level.
They offer a great product for a great price, and the whole process of arranging quotes was fantastic. Unfortunately, once the system is installed they appear to wash their hands of you.

UPDATE: I got a phone call after placing this review promising to help, but it's been a month now and nothing has been done. I wish I had gone with another company. I've had these panels for under a year and have already had three issues with the company, all of which have been a nightmare to get sorted out.

There are other solar panel companies in Melbourne, and I can't imagine any of them would be worse.

I had panels fitted by Solargain through an IKEA promotion in July. The whole process of getting quotes and getting the panels installed was pretty straightforward. They were very honest and even reduced the quote when they found I wouldn’t require a part they originally quoted on. I did have to wait about 6 weeks for installation but that was ok, good things take time, they ended up coming a week earlier though due to a cancellation. The install went smoothly, the guys were diligent and cleaned up. The installer suggested a different configuration for the panels than the original quote which looks great. It took another 10 days to get them inspected and turned on. Now they’re on though they’re brilliant! The energy they’re producing is enough for me to have made a slight profit on my usage for the month, so they’re paying for themselves very quickly. I am very happy with Solargain and would highly recommend them. I had been wanting panels for years but had no idea where to start with the process. They were great, answered all my questions and advised well on an appropriate system. I’m very happy, thank you.

We had a 6.6KW system installed with Q CELLS Q. MAXX 330W panels and a Huawei SUN2000-5KTL-L1 5kW hybrid inverter.

The customer service in the lead up to installation was exceptional, the patience from Bryn in getting the answers to my questions was something to aspire to. The system Bryn ended up putting together was exactly what we wanted, it suits our needs perfectly, the price was extremely favourable and by far the best value out there.

The conduct of Jeremy's team and their installation was professional all the way from when Jeremy and the boys turned up at the house and when they finished. Installation was a quick and the whole site was clean during the installation and after.

The entire experience with Solargain has been very satisfying and my family and I are very grateful for how they handled putting together and installing our solar system. I highly recommend their services and would do so in a heart beat to anyone else out there looking to get a system installed on their property.

I am please to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Jess McQuade from Solargain, Western Australia for a job in Melbourne, Victoria where she had exhibited excellent followup and rectification of the renewed certification required by my electricity retailer, AGL who delayed over 2 years and failed on acting on my original installer's completed documentation.

It was a drawn out process but Jess McQuade courageously took up while other solar installers and repairers dodge this challenge.

Damien and William from Solargain who came to inspect the work of the original installer and follow up on Jess' observation of the Fronius solar web meter and realligned the differences in the smart meter and inverter time stamp identified by Jess McQuade. Jess was conscientious in her work and took steps to liaise with the Fronius team to achieve solutions.

I am not a customer of solar gain, however their behaviour and care for properties they're working near is absolutely dismal. A contractor from Solar Gain attended a property near me to quote solar and parked on newly seeded grass, ruining it. The Contractor was very rude, dismissive and didn't apologise for their actions. I would not want to deal with a company that demonstrates that kind of behaviour.

Tom from sales was great to deal with. Always responded to my emails promptly and followed up.

Amin and the installation team did a fantastic job on my flat roof. They showed up on time and explained what was going to be installed on the roof and the best location.

Overall a great experience from start to finish and a company i would highly recommended for quality of work and pricing.
