SKENES CREEK BEACHFRONT PARK reviews
51 Very basic compared to bigger parks but the location is awesome.
Has showers, toilets, and dump point. Cafe on site also as well as powered sites. Dogs permitted
Dogs, kids & bicycles everywhere, cars are guests. Sites are quite small. Right on the dog friendly beach.
Very tidy nice place close to beach amazing a must do, checked in after hours owner was very pleasent on the phone, camp on none power site (please keep up the great attitude)
Small dog friendly park set along the top of the dune. The beach is literally right there! There are at least three short access tracks along the park. Care takers and staff are very friendly and accommodating. They sell a range of small goods, ice, coffee, wood fired pizzas and other takeaway food. The kiosk also has boards, wetsuits and life jackets for hire. There is a bbq for park guests, a small games room and a small camp kitchen with a laundry. The toilet and shower blocks are a little outdated however clean and well maintained.
There is also a small sandy creek running down from the mountains into the ocean, its great for little children to swim/splash in. The surf can be large and there can be strong currents however, we have experienced great swimming conditions. There are also rock pools and we caught fish and crabs. With or without pets I would recommend this park, if you are looking for a lazy relaxed feel.
The owner is quite strange and a little bit creepy if I’m honest. Seemed to go out of his way to make us feel uncomfortable with sneery jokes. The facilities are very basic but don’t expect staff to man the office in the hours stated for “peak season” on their website.
My advice, read absolutely EVERYTHING onbtheir confusing website and nail him down via email.
We had some issues during our stay at Skenes Creek Beachfront Park. We were initially quoted a price for our one week stay, but when we arrived at the park we were told it would be more than double what we were quoted. We paid an extra $45 per night for a powered site, however we realised when we arrived at the site that the nearest power point was 20 metres away from us, on someone else's site. We enquired about borrowing an extension cord and we were told it would be a $50 bond to use it for the week (which I feel was hardly reasonable considering the circumstances). The manager of the park was quite intrusive in the set up of our campsite and asked us to move our tents into a certain position, despite us being clearly within the boundaries of our site.
Great location.friendly, helpful staff, beautiful beach, rock pools & creek - & best of all, kid friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Great place for relaxing with your caravan with the sound of waves in the background.cant really get closer to the beach without getting wet. Friendly and helpful staff.
Read all the other reviews, they are accurate. The owner does not disappoint, I actually visited here just to see if the comments were true. They are true and are no exaduration. Quite a character but I kind of liked him.
It's really entertaining to just talk to the owner (be full warned, he will be a very strong minded and highly opinated character so expect some fireworks).
Visiting here is worth it for the entertainment value of the owner. I suggest bringing a chair up to the check-in area, making some controversial statement, perhaps something like how much you like Donald Trump's Presidency, cracking a beer then sit back and enjoy the show.
Skenes Creek the small town with a huge secret. Where did those 2 German backpackers drive at 2am in the morning? Why were their bodies found in the nearby bushland? Was it the ex boyfriend? Or was it a murder suicide? Wolf creek returns with a new destination not far from wild dog creek (not even a lie). Loved the place but some people just gave me the creeps
Great location, pet friendly, clean but old bathrooms. Interesting character who runs the place!
