Shujinko The Glen reviews
38The staff there are super lovely and it felt like I was back in Japan. Really great experience the food there tasted super authentic and the wall art was amazing! Will be coming back
I ordered the fried chicken rice bowel. The rice was too wet. The sauce at the bottom was sour! The chicken was over-fried, very dry. Small portion size and overpriced. The customer service was bad. I can't believe this store hasn't closed yet.
The Karaage Don with chilli mayo as pictured was nice, all the ingredients worked well together. The chicken was still juicy too. The Karakuchi ramen was, imho, a bit ex for its taste and accompaniments. Kudos to the staff as place was clean, service was friendly, food seemed to arrive in no time at all. I would rate as 3.5 stars
The most delicious vegetarian ramen I have had in my entire life. The staff here are so sweet and lovely and the service is incredibly quick! The vegetarian ramen at Shujinko has quickly become my all time favourite food in the world and I would go here everyday if I could.
Broth is great but the portion is tiny. Just two anemic slices of pork to go with some beansporout and ramen.

Yet to try out. Rating is not based on service and quality of meal.
Ramen without soup is not ramen. Very disappointed in our first meal of lockdown as the family was craving ramen. Went here before with no issues. Ordered a miso ramen, gyoza and an original ramen. Wife's original came with a normal amount of soup. My miso however came with overexpanded noodles that were clearly overcooked and little soup. Photos show ramen with one mix. I alerted the waitress who told me I would have to pay for more soup as this is normal.
Was told to buy another $6 dollars worth of soup so I could have ramen with soup. First time ever have I seen any ramen joint serve ramen with no soup. Would not recommend this place.
Amazing first day of dining in being reintroduced. Amazing service, very friendly staff, yummy food, and a great place for a date.
2nd Shujinko that I tried. Must said it’s just as good as the branch in the city. The menu is pretty limited so you have to be a fan of ramen to like this place. They have couple of don (rice) choices and good side dishes to munch on. Authentic Japanese ramen.
Food is great! Reasonably priced. Great place for family & friends. Cafe is well decorated. You feel like you are in Japan! Service is excellent Easy parking.
Service is ok, better than their 'signature' ramen. Definitely wont be back there for that, missing soo many condiments that are meant to be in a proper japanese ramen and yet they charge more than other ramen restaurants. Who puts bok choy in their ramen? ! More a chinese/ japanese fusion bowl of noodles. Broth was tasteless, it was as if they added boiling water to letfover and not enough broth.
Absolutely loved the Shujinko Don. Pork belly melts in mouth, the chips was awesome. Will definitely visit again. 2
Returned visit to this shop. Ordered charshu pork noodle, chicken karrage and squid ring for our 2 adults 1 child dinner. The meals had same great tase. The meat as well as the rice were not too dry or wet. The texture and flavour were perfect. The downside was the squid ring. It seems too soogy and the taste was not whole. Not sure what went wrong. However the price wise was ok for our pocket. But we might return again.
Very friendly and attentive staff.
Place was clean and tidy.
Disappointed with the ramen broth, almost unflavoured. Cannot be compared to the first shop in the city, a bit of work needed to get it right.
I ordered 2 Ramen, and a gyoza. After eating one of the gyoza, I noticed that it was a bit bitter and weird tasting, so I told my partner to try it as well, and she said the same thing. As I am a regular customer, who often order the gyoza, I know something was off. I informed one of their staff who said they would check with the chef, but nothing was done. After the meal, I went to the counter and informed the staff again, and again nothing was done. At the point, the experience was already very dissappointing. Went back home, and both of us had food poisoning. Tried to contact them to discuss the issue as I have been in the hospitality industry and know that those things happen, but they couldn't be bothered! Definitely last time I go to this place.
Never have I ever tasted ramen as oily as this. Garnish was cold and the broth was tasteless. Not authentic, go somewhere else.
My first time visit and was very keen on trying out their ramen! I found their signature ramen a bit on the average side and needed to add some seasoning to the broth.however, they serve up a delicious Oden (fish cake assortments on broth) and this broth was by far the winner! I also ordered their tsukemen (dip ramen) which was absolutely delicious and would 100% recommend! Its very hard to find tsukemen in melbourne!
overall i still enjoyed the meals, the dishes were priced appropriately and staff was quick to respond.i will definitely be coming back and would recommend others to try!
Efficient, friendly service. Hygiene and spacing protocols seem to be executed quite well here too. The food arrived swiftly but the chicken was a tad on the dry side, and a little too much rice for my stomach's and wallet's liking. Otherwise a really nice chill restaurant
