Shujinko The Glen reviews
38What is wrong with your ventilation fan in the kitchen? The dining area is full of the deep frying fume. Maybe we should check the regulation obligation together with you?
The food is not fresh, put me in the toilet for more than 40 mins. Won’t come back to them never
The amount seems smaller than I thought, but it's enough to eat a bowl for an adult man. It doesn't have the greasy taste or spice taste unique to Japan, and it's so delicious to eat it with noodles because the meat is smoked separately. I don't prefer Japanese food, but this ramen was so delicious to me. The amount may seem small, but adult men are enough to eat.
We had to wait 40 minutes for our food as they forgot our order.
We ordered the Shujinko ramen and Volcano Ramen.
The shujinko ramen was very tasteless with the broth being very watery. The meat/chashu pork was thin and not cooked well/didn’t taste good. The overall portion size was also small.
The Volcano ramen was okay but not crazily spicy or anything if you’re someone who loves spice.
For $20 ramen you could go to a lot better places and get better quality and taste. Save your money lol
Also this is a nitpick but surely get proper chopsticks and not disposable wooden ones that splinter
Terrible food.
Not worth the money at all.
Go eat something else.
Broth not flavor, runny.
Noodle very disappointing.
One 1mm stripp of pork.
$20+ is way too expensive for this quality.
The portion size have gotten significantly smaller compared to past. Individual karaages are quite small and felt like there’s more side salad than the actual chicken.
Same with the ramen, felt like amount of both broth and content have decreased.
Overall the taste is still good. The chicken was quite juicy and I enjoyed them. However I don’t see that price can be justified with the portion size. $14 for 5pcs of karaage and about $20 for ramen.
I am becoming disappointed to Shujinko (Glen). As a long time customer I've seen the portion sizes on their food gradually diminish over the years. Compare review photos from 2-3 years ago and you'll see for yourself that the serves are less generous than they used to be. My friend and I ordered the signature ramen dish this week and it only came with one lonely piece of pork, compared to the three to four pieces we would receive on the same dish years ago!
I am not recommending Shujinko anymore until they can provide more competitive portion sizes.
Nothing like the Russell St store. Service is amateur and unfriendly. The ramen quality has significantly decreased compared to when it first opened.
Used to enjoy the ramen here. For 20 dollars you get 1 piece of meat and noodles that are overcooked/soggy. Unfortunately for this price and quality I won't be back.
Portion was small and broth was diluted.only one piece of meat and half an egg.what a joke for the money.will definitely not return.service was great though
We come weekly use to love this place but in the new year they now use really poor quality pork belly.very disappointing!
Everything else is really good we hope they being back the quality ASAP
When we visit around 4pm, there was no other customer so the food come out quickly. The ramen taste average with only 2 slices of pork belly. The tsukumen was good but they didn't provide noodle soup for it to finish up like in Japan. The price tiny bit more expensive compare to other ramen outlet.
My favourite things to have are the karage chicken and the takoyaki. The mayo that comes with the karaage chicken is delicious!
The combi Croquette was delicious too. Good vegetarian option.
The squid rings were crunchy and yummy.
The staff were attentive and courteous.
Ramen was extremely salty.
Long waiting times for overpriced food.
Save your money on other Japanese places within Glen.
Above average food. But their tasty dishes aren't the Ramen. Other restaurants do them better unfortunately. Some of the rice dishes and stir fry noodles (yaki) are nice. Edamame is a let down - bland taste and cold.
FYI, cooks and food prep staff aren't wearing any mouth coverings and chatting away while prepping food. Even though restrictions have eased, it's good hygiene to have mouth coverings for cooks and food prep staff.
Quality has dropped drastically since our last visit (pre covid). The ramen lost the texture that makes it a ramen (tastes more like packaged noodles), and the booth was flat, no complexity, no saltiness and no garlic taste. The egg and book Choy was cold.
Please recover and do better.
Ordered take away, staff failed to seal soup container properly, and miso went all over my car interior and work clothes.
The ramen was quite average, limited toppings if no add ons. So not the best value for money.
The portion size could be bigger.
We were sceptical about the reviews but the flavours really didn't sit right. We definitely rate ourselves as veteran ramen lovers and it was rather disappointing. Couldn't book (they removed their phone number completely, thought you can't do that as a business) so had to wait in line for ages. The bowls were half filled and just wasn't enough of you don't order sth else.
We had to wait for more than 20 minutes to get 2 bowls of Shujinko Ramen, which is their signature. Other people, who came after us, had their meals before us. Turns out, they forgot our order and just smiled without any apologies.
Bad service!
