Shizuka Ryokan Japanese Country Spa Retreat

Highly recommend to anyone who wants to take a break from the busy life. This is the only time that I have spent most of the time in my room and sit at the balcony to see the zen rock garden and never get bored. All staff members are super friendly and special thanks to Haruna. Definitely want to come back again next time.

I can't highly recommend Shizuka Ryokan enough.
My stay was just what I needed to allow myself much needed time to relax and reflect. The accommodation certainly provides a very authentic Japanese feel and the ambience within the whole resort complements the whole Japanese aesthetic. The food on offer is also very good quality and some of the best in Japanese cuisine I have had. The packages on offer are well worth investing in. They are uniquely deigned for your individual needs. Will definitely like to visit again in the future.

A beautiful, serene Japanese setting with healthy delicious Japanese food. The service was impeccable, particularly from Haruna. Her kind and helpful nature was above and beyond. We’d also loved Yu’s (the chef) cooking it was so fresh, flavoursome and reminded us of being back in Japan. We had a shiatsu massage and facial that were relaxing and the perfect add on to our stay. Would definitely return!

It’s a beautiful ryokan with the most amazing breakfast and dinner. Lovely experience and highly recommended. Stayed in Nov 21 and will definitely be back.

Came here for the first time with my wife for her birthday today. Catherine and all the staff were soo polite and the facility was absolutely stunning. My wife and I had a beautiful Shiatsu massage, followed later on by dinner and drinks. You truly feel peace and calmness when you're here! Thankyou to all the team here! An absolutely gorgeous place, reminded me of our trip to Japan, with the addition of an Australian bush setting! The food was wonderful and the hospitality warm. Lovely details everywhere, our room was a pleasure to relax in. I will definitely be coming back.

We had such a lovely and relaxing time at Shizuka. It all started with a 10/10 welcoming reception from Yu with a custom Dragon Ball themed anniversary card for my partner and I. Our room was quiet and comfy. The sound of running water combined with handcrafted bath salts guaranteed one of the best sleeps we had in the past couple of years.

In the morning we had a blast with a tasty japanese breakfast starring one of my favourite fish (kingfish). We also had a warming chat with Catherine during which she recommended some amazing places to visit and eat.

Thank you for the hospitality. We will definitely return for a round two. ️

Highly recommended! If going, make sure you get informed about local restaurants to book upfront. Best options can get fully booked even up to 2 weeks prior to your stay.

Beautiful place to visit to have a massage. Catherine was very polite in every conversation and Sarah the masseuse was amazing. Can't wait to return.

The experience we had was nothing short of amazing for us. The staff were very warm, friendly and professional. They even assisted me through billing trouble I had with the third party agent to which I booked through. The assistance alleviated alot of the stress I initially had. I strongly advise booking directly with the hotel rather than using third parties (such as Agoda and Booking.com). We opted for a massage and dinner package on top of the standard package. Both were excellent and very reminiscent of my time at a Ryokan in Gora, Japan. The only thing they didn't have was a public bathing experience (i.e. Men only and Women only baths) as you can have in most Ryokan in Japan. However, being in Australia, I suspect most would prefer a private bath anyway. You just have to fill up the bath yourself which takes less than 10 mins to do and they include some homemade mineral salts for you to add into the bath. Thanks esp to Catherine for assisting us in making our stay as enjoyable as it was!

Came down with my partner for a mid week getaway. A wonderful tranquil location. The hostess was very personable, and it was always a pleasure to talk to her about the area. She was very knowledgeable, and was able to help us with directions, and suggestions on activities for the day. The traditional Japanese breakfast was beautiful every morning.
The room was wonderful, with a large bath in the ensuite. The futon is very firm, which is typical for a traditional Japanese futon.
My partner and I partook in a relaxation massage and face and body treatment. The masseurs were wonderfully accommodating, and we both felt very relaxed afterwards.

Absolutely loved our time there. Would love to visit again.

Amazing foods and plenty of it and different every meal. Breakfast was amazing every morning. The bathroom was warm, spacious and well equipped. I loved the deep bath. I slept so much better than I expected on the futon. The staff - where do I start? Friendly, warm, any request was not a problem, a really authentic group of people.

Decent getaway, if you'd want that quiet time away and some crisp fresh air than country Victoria is good and Daylesford/Hepburn is definitely a place to keep in mind. $1000 for 2 nights, including breakfast both mornings and one dinner; also including relaxation treatment. Facilities were nice. Hosts were great. Food cannot compare to Japan but good for the resources that is available. Is a very good price there is not any that is cheaper that includes meals so well worth. However do be mindful with the included dinner that you are charged for drinks however this was not mentioned at the time so luckily I did not go ham with the drinks.
