Shanghai Taste Noodle and Dumpling Restaurant

Solid dumplings and Shanghai Fried Noodles. Nothing fancy, but open late! Reception from 'host' is a little frosty, but it's no big deal.

The lady and the front desk is such a vibe, I enjoyed eating in it, and it felt very comfortable. I would recommend.

Have been to this place twice. The first time was because it was one of the only places open after a late Penguin Parade, and the second time because we were craving their noodles.

TLDR: This is one of the places rated criminally low for the quality (and quantity) of food they serve. So do pay them a visit.

Their Vegetarian Shanghai Fried Noodles is a thing of beauty. Costing around 15 dollars, it is a steal for that price. Two people can comfortably share that and feel full, but not too heavy.

Their dumplings in spicy soup was a revelation, and so was the vegetarian steamed buns. The former left our taste buds tingling and everything, while the latter calmed the entire palate. Paired with the complimentary chilli oil, the buns just transported my husband and me.

However, one thing the both of us were apprehensive about is communication. The family who run the business are very friendly, but they have trouble understanding what we're saying, and we have trouble understanding them. It's definitely not going to stop us from hitting the place again, but it's just something to keep in mind if you're planning to visit the place.

Ordered on Uber…. Asked for utensils and this time was given a wooden fork rather than chopsticks. How do I eat dumplings like this? I struggle to eat dumplings with a metal fork let alone a wooden one. Is it because I have a white sounding name the stereotype is I need to be given a fork?

Attempted to order prawn dumplings (only), and they have served me prawn dumpling soups with noodles.
$15.50 paid by card, bit pricey
The soup is quite salty and the wonton is much smaller than others for same price. Noodle itself and some scallion on the side are nice.

Only perks is I have dined in and the service is fairly quick, plus they open till late night.

Worst food and customer service i have experienced. I found hair on my soup so we all left without eating our food. There was no salt or anything on table. We got three of our noodles in 5 minutes after we ordered which was bland and taste bad. Never ever go to this restaurant. Waste of money and time. I cannot believe there is restaurants like this in melbourne.

Quality of food was quite poor. Very little flavour. The lady who was running the place and took our order seemed like she didn't want to be there and didn't want us to there either. It was a pretty dissatisfying experience overall.

They have placed so much msg in my food that it gave me allergic reaction with burning hives, hot flushes and dizziness and when I have went back and spoke to the manager they told me it's my fault for not telling them I had allergy to msg. Really dissapointing because if a little child had that food it could've caused severe effects and who knows what!

Turns out it wasn't boneless but I can always "pull chicken off bone"

This place has a variety of dishes to offer, great customer service. I ate the Tom yum soup and it was good. Affordable price.

A really good authentic local Chinese that serves tasty food at a good price. Eating in they are always friendly and take away travels well. A favourite

So bad service! Even source need to charge money and the dumpline even the same Asian market products but it is expensive and they all of stick each other. I never come to this restaurant again. Super disappointed

The food is nice but the service is a little lacking. Dishes arrive in a somewhat haphazard manner, none of the wait staff can explain the menu, asking for things like cups or napkins elicits an eye roll and a sigh.

Food arrived cold and was not edible Tried calling the restaurant and someone kept hanging up on me. So, no food and no refund! Stay away!

Food are average. Good thing is they open till midnight. People like me often eat very late at night due to busy working evening.

The shop had a Chinese lady doing front of house. I ordered a singaporean fried noodle with pork instead of prawn for takeaway as I am allergic to prawns. My friend was with me when I was ordering who speaks Mandarin as he is a native Chinese. He repeatedly told her to make the dish spicy as I really love spicy food. Not only was it not spicy at all, even to my friend who eats very little spices, but there was no pork in the dish at all. I suppose the cook messed up the order because it was late? However this is no excuse as they charged me the same price. Moreover, when we called to let her know, she argued that it is indeed spicy and that they put pork in the dish. I am pretty sure she did not taste the dish from my box before serving it to me? ! After some back and forth she conceded and asked us to return back for a second box. However we were both tired from work and had no energy to drive to her place again. I would have given one star had she not asked us to return to fix their mistake.

Really good quality and reasonably priced food. They have a lot of variety on their menu and the service is quick and efficient. Their take-away service is great as well.

You would think a Chinese Restaurant could make a decent 'Special'fried rice? Not so at Yaya Xinjiaang! Totally tasteless and expensive.never again
