Shanghai dragon dumpling house

We had a fantastic dinner, we went to Din Tai Fung last night and were extremely disappointed. But tonight, we got great satisfaction! We will visit again before returning to Brisbane!

Terrible experience.

We waited for more than half an hour while the dumpling maker was eating in the back in a transparent cabinet.

The cramped space and dirty environment made me feel uncomfortable and we were given a greasy, falling apart menu. …

The taste was also very mediocre, and the dumplings seemed to have a rancid meat filling. Our meals were largely untouched apart from half a plate of dumplings.

Will never come back this restaurant again!

We ordered Crab and Pork Xiao long bao and rice chicken kungpao, but there was no crab meat at all in the Xiao long bao. We opened it up and checked the meat inside but no crab meat but only pork. My bf talked to the waitress and she told us that we ordered the traditional xiao long bao.

She went to the kitchen to checked the order and told us that she would change the dish for us but we have to pay half of the wrong order? It’s ridiculous

I had to wait for another 15 mins. She brought the new batch of xiao long bao with 8pcs. Just few of them are new. I believe they took the leftover from the first time and just steam it again!

Very disappointed!

I been their customer for 5years Food are very tasty but sometime service are not very good. I will try again few month later

It's a great place for cheap eat of you don't have high expectations. I have dined many times, I'm happy with what I got based on the price I paid.

It’s solid cheap dumplings in the city. The steamed and fried dumplings are just average. Disappointed that there is a bit too much coriander in the pork mixture for the fried and steamed dumplings. The Xiao Long Baos and Fried Xiao Long Baos are pretty good, fragrant and up there with Din Tai Fung, Shanghai Street and Juicy Bao. Value with Liven, but without it, there are better places to go.

Juicy delicious dumplings, attentive service and well priced. Highly recommend and definitely will visit again. AJ

Very tasty mini dragon dumplings. The skin is thin but tough enough to hold the juices.
Shanghai grief noodles were nice too. Small place but table turnover is relatively quick, hence wait times is not too long.

Bad services and food.
Took the wrong order and asked us to pay for it still.
When making new order, they just recook half the old ones and served as new dish.
Not recommended.
Stay away.

I rarely write harsh reviews but this was a pretty bad experience…

Came here for a quick feed - my 2 other friends that were eating with had a horrible experience! One of their 15 piece dumplings ordered didnt come out for an hour and they kept asking the server where it was - went it came out only 10 dumplings were served and they were all burnt and unedible! We said that we weren’t paying for the dumplings and staff said we would only be offered 20% off… we declined this and said we are not paying for it. After 15 mins of them “talking to the boss” and the other customers in the restaurant speaking up as well and saying we shouldn’t be paying for them - only then they didn’t charge for the unedible dumplings. They would also keep coming back and asking what was wrong with it when we clearly explained that they were burnt. I didn’t take pictures of the other dishes because we were trying to leave quickly.

My partner and I’s Kung Pao Chicken and Xiao Long Bao tasted nice however - this is what saved the review a little…

It was one of my favourite places but very disappointed today. I bought around $50 and found they forgot to put in the soup for my noodles by the time I arrived home. I called the restaurant and they said they forgot to put in and couldn’t deliver to me so I had to go there again. I didn’t receive any apology nor compensation. I could have eaten my lunch around 1: 30 instead of 2: 30 just because of their mistakes without apologies.

I went here today, i was craving only for 1 dish that they have posted in the window, they told me that the dish wasnt available, I tought.ammmm may be they will tell me when it will be available, they even didnt know.why do you have food posted if you dont have it a available?

Shanghai mini bun is amazing. By far their absolute best. Plus hot tea instead of cold tap water. 10/10 legit.

I get a call from someone who works there saying that there are no dumplings so I’ll have to cancel my order through the app.
I say ok and go into the app to cancel. I can’t cancel it. It just keeps saying to call the store. I call the store on the number provided and it doesn’t connect
Then the delivery guy calls and says that he’s been told by the restaurant that I cancelled the order and he’s telling me I have to call Uber and cancel, I explain to him that actually they called me and said they don’t have dumplings and I have to cancel and that I can’t cancel because the app just tells me to call the store, and I can’t call the store because the number seems to be disconnected. Can he please let them know that they have to cancel. He says he will. They don’t cancel. Instead I get charged $28 as they just say it was delivered. I’m STILL trying to get this resolved with Uber as they’re ridiculous.
I feel really ripped off by your store and I’ve ordered quite a bit from you guys. You’ve lost a good customer.

We ordered their traditional pork soup dumplings, deep fried pork ribs and sweet and sour chicken. I’m the kind of person that will finish my food with no waste but the soup dumplings were so salty and inedible like eating a mouthful of salt. Their pork ribs were so bland and didn’t taste fresh. Sweet and sour chicken was only the acceptable dish.

Definitely will NOT come back again. They used to be good but the waiter told us they have changed their chef.

Dumplings and noodles are quite good and price is cheap but their cleanliness left alot to be desired.

The Dumplings are so tasty! It’s always crowded because it’s a small place but you’re getting a solid meal for cheap. It’s a go to for me and my wife.

Overcrowding in the dinner time, and tables are a bit too close to each other. The food is quite reasonable. It's a good idea for quick and cheap meals in this restaurant. Don't expect the staff to serve you like a big restaurant. Help yourself.

I realise Melbournians are obsessed with telling each other about 'the best hole-in-the-wall XX restaurant' – but seriously, this place is amazing. I've lived in Melbourne for 10 years, and all of those ten years I've got to one or two or three super popular dumpling houses, but no more!

Super reliable service, so amazingly priced (we spent $50 on three people and FEASTED), very clean, and most importantly mouth wateringly delicious.

I absolutely recommend all of their fried dumplings, and also going as soon as you can. Spectacular experience that I genuinely can't fault at all.

The food ordered is different from the food you get. I ordered a fried bun and gave me dumplings. Dumplings are oily and not very fresh!
