ShanDong MaMa Mini reviews
71Saw all the highly raved comments and we decided to check this place out, really cosy restaurant, ngl we we’re alil disappointed w the dumplings, but nevertheless I think I should adjust my expectations towards Chinese cuisine in western countries. Thank you for bringing the Chinese cushines to Melbourne
Best dumplings I have ever had even the dinning area is small but I will come back for more dumplings.
The best food you can have in Melbourne. It may look cheap priced, but do not let that fool you: the quality is high!
Tried the lotus flower chips and loved them. Mackerel dumplings were as expected by all the reviews. Not fishy, light and fluffy with a smooth texture. Fried wontons were a great entree too. Service was good, food came promptly. Highly recommended!
On the hunt for the best dumplings, this popped up as highest rated dumplings in cbd (one of).
Yes, it is unique rolled up dumplings, very tasty, however is not traditional, so you end up losing all of the juices as the way the dumplings are wrapped, is hollow on both ends and lose its juices.
Still good tho! It is unique, and the bao is a must have!
Soft, tender and melt in your mouth baos!
Service also friendly! The hunt for the best dumpling continues
To be honest, I’m very surprised at how high the ratings are for this place. I also saw it on a few lists of “best places to eat in Melbourne” so I decided to give it a try last night. Service was mehhh but they were very busy so I can understand that. The food just was not up to par. I got the pork bao, pork dumplings, and Chinese broccoli (which was not even edible). Would not recommend.
The best restaurant I’ve been to. We have been here multiple times and will continue to come back.
Portions were tiny for the cost, a $15 meal was a small portion of rice and approx 100g of meat. Taste was ok. Anti-reccomend
Great food as always. Would be 5/5 if takeaway containers weren’t plastic.
4.5 rating for the paper bag and asking me if I needed disposable cutlery! (Which cuts down on waste.)
I refer to this restaurant as my favourite 'fancy' dumpling place in Melbourne as the establishment has an awesome and creative range of dumplings on offer. The prices and service are amazing.
Great little place in one of Melbourne's iconic laneways.
Managed to get a table on busy Saturday afternoon. Quick service from the friendly staff.
Had Pork dumplings & pork belly buns.but were full of flavour and excellent.
Best dumplings in Melbourne with homemade chilli sauce.
Pork belly roll is absolutely delicious also.
Big recomend!
Small restaurant in Degraves Lane Melbourne.
Great food and exceptional staff.
The owner 'Gin' was very accommodating and friendly.
Five of us had the most delicious food here just before dashing off to our trains. The service was extra speedy, super attentive and friendly. Three of us are vegan and had zucchini dumplings which were unbelievably melt in the mouth delicious (we had to order an extra plateful,) with accompanying broccoli in garlic sauce - perfect combo. Also, the lotus root chips and cauliflower skewers as entrees (really recommend), Felt really happy to have found this place. Only sorry i'm not in the city more often.:)
I have eaten here a few times before lockdowns.
Even though everything is frozen pre-made microwaved the food is okay.sometimes.
Staff are rude, place is small, expensive.
But a quick easy place to have a expensive snack.
We shared two generous serves of delicious dumplings. Melbourne and Mackerel. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed by the quality or flavour.
Pretty delicious dumplings and noodles. We tried pork pan fried dumplings, fried chicken noodles and a drink. Dumplings were tasty with nice crispy bottoms and thin pastry. Interesting way of wrapping. Noodles were good too although slightly bland. Fried chicken wings were pretty outstanding - piping hot, crunchy skin and juicy inside. Tiny place but food is great and punches above its weight. Would go back to try other interesting menu items. Highly recommended.
Great dumpling place with matchings beers, and such friendly service! Highly recommend, not your usual dumplings, hand made and considered fillings, highly recommend.
Overpriced, rude service, mushy rice, and flavourless pot stickers
Edit: when I went there a few months ago, response from owner proves my point
