Nice place. Was empty. The carbonara was bland & runny. Burger was ok. I had to advise staff at the bar I could hear the bell from kitchen.

Mid week lunch.
Friendly staff.
Spacious eatery area, we had a group of six and found the table a bit small width wise.
Wait time for food was good.

Garlic bread: 4/5 tasty and warm
Mashed potato: 4.5/5
Vegetables: 4/5
Chicken Schnitzel: 4/5 but a little small.
Fair bit of space left on plate.

Good vibe though.
Would go there again.

I had the fish croquettes and a bowl of fries. The croquettes were ok, not hot enough, and not really as the menu described. The chips were hot and crunchy. No tea or coffee available. It was a little cold in the dining area near the kitchen.

A huge thanks to Gina, from Dykes On Bikes Melbourne.

A group of about 20 of us walked in without a booking, but Gina was more than accommodating from the get go. Set us up in the back room with ample space, got the kids orders out in no time and all of us ordered and got our food in record time.good pub-grub, good serving sizes and a hell of an applause for Gina. You did a brilliant job!

Thanks heaps again, Gina! Was a great pub to stop at for a feed

Everything you want in an authentic country town pub. Importantly, the beer's icy cold.

Food was quite good. 2 stars removed for false advertising. When the special menu says lamb shanks, which is plural and means more than one. One shank with very little meat which was turned topside for viewing is unacceptable. Please Shamrock owner, correct this issue so the customer knows what they will be getting when they order. Bad business.

Stopped for lunch, 5 diners n all agreed food was ordinary. Liver inedible. Irish stew was like a can of soup with lamb chops n carrot thrown in and carbonara disappointing. Staff were excellent, very friendly. Atmosphere, none. Toilets excellent.

This pub has managed to keep the older-style pub atmosphere amidst the inexorable march of the poker machines.
I'm not sure if it has poker machines but I didn't see them. But that I went looking.
Staff very genuine and friendly.
Didn't eat there but the food looked pretty good.

Had a large family gathering and they placed us in an area that was secluded from others, which was great, as we could relax and have a good family time with great food. Service was excellent and made sure we were looked after.

Wouldn't go near the place again until they can find someone that knows how to cook. We both had the slow roasted lamb. It should've been falling apart with a touch of the knife. Instead it was tough and chewy and the potatoes weren't cooked all the way through. It was like they had been microwaved then thrown into the pan at the last moment to give them a bit of colour. Same goes for the pumpkin and yet the carrots were mushy, go figure! The minted jelly was like it came out of the cheapest bottle they could buy. I reckon just about everybody in the room with some basic cooking knowledge would've done a much better job.

The only positive thing I have to say is the food was delicious. Our table had the chicken schnitzels and the beef burgers.

The outside area is filthy dirty and absolutely plastered in old grime and webs and just not cleaned or taken care of. Windows were filthy too. And the staff were rude. They bring out the food and we ask where our side of garlic butters were for the two schnitzel meals and so the waitress said “sorry I’ll go and get that” and comes back with only one. So we said we had ordered two. So she says “ok I can go and get another if you like” and so we said yes please. Then, she comes back with a receipt in her hand and says to us “here you go. You didn’t actually order the garlic butters so NEXT TIME make sure you order them”. Extremely RUDE! I 100% ordered them when ordering the meals as I had to re-clarify with the girl I ordered with. She said “so did you say garlic butter for one of the Schnitzels? ” I said “no. One with mushroom sauce, one with gravy and both with a side of garlic butter” and she said okay and continued taking the rest of the order. They need to teach their young staff how to talk to customers.

We needed a toilet stop so we came in for a drink. It’s a bit grotty and took a while to be served in the front bar. We were told there’s a cute boutique pub somewhere in town, but this definitely wasn’t it.

Its pub food, what do you expect? The chicken parmi was well cooked but the chips were on the raw side and sauces tasted like sugar.

We’ve been to the Shamrock recently and have now experienced 2 misunderstandings with regards to our table reservations. When we arrived at our recent (and final) visit, we explained that we had a booking which was made the previous evening by phone.
We were seated at what we assumed was our table. Minutes later, another young Waitress reluctantly approached our table and asked us to clarify the name our booking was made. Despite our table being only for 3 people, She explained that they were fully booked. This seemed odd as the place appeared half empty at the time.
We politely tried to clarify our name and booking details to try and resolve any misunderstanding. She snapped “ugh! Just Don’t worry about it. We should be able to manage! ” before abruptly leaving our table. Very rude and unprofessional service. Never received an apology about the behaviour of the rude waitress. Won’t be back.

Ordered a shamrock devil chicken burger and halfway through eating noticed it was raw in the centre, after leaving the rest on the table I let the table staff know about the raw chicken to later find out nothing was told to the chef. I would highly recommend staying clear of this pub

Best value in town.you get what you pay for with typical old fashioned hotel accommodation; shared bathroom and basic no fuss rooms just for sleeping. We loved it. Jack, our host, was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great old fashioned unpretentious upstairs and old pub feel but with very comfortable and new essentials.
