Roger and Jeanine were truly amazing. I learned so much from them during our outings with the emus, kangaroos, koalas, along with various birds and types of eucalyptus trees. Jeanine tracked 3 koalas which is most times a rarity for one day and Roger also shared some background/traditions of the Aboriginal People who lived on the land that is now Serendip which totally helped me connect to the Aboriginal culture. Although I did not see it, I was tickled to hear the kookaburra which was in close proximity. I highly recommend Serendip. It was a wonderful experience.

Incredible place with a combination of bush walks around the lake and exhibits with bird hides and pademelon. Best of all, it is free.

The Marie Celeste of sanctuaries: the place is eerily bereft of animals, but the paths, fences and bird hides remain. Perfect location for the filming of a post-apocalyptic extinction drama. Admission is free, but it still feels like a bit of a rip-off.

Very disappointed with the lack of maintenance; more than half the enclosures are empty. No quolls; no thickknes, no bustards. At the bare minimum a sign post out the front should explain the poor condition of the park. The waterbirds were great!

Before telling anyone to smash their eggs, pls refer to the law - Masked lapwings are protected under the Nature Conservation Act 2002 and Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulations 2021. Any interference with the bird, nest or eggs is not permitted

If you are telling people to smash eggs to get rid of these birds, I would suggest you stop.

Serendip, as it was - research centre, interactive exhibits with researchers on hand to explain to kids how they're trying to reestablish species - is gone, it's been gutted. This vital work has apparently been passed on to commercial zoos.very little government money being spent on serendip now, toilets were filthy, Scotch thistle and stinging nettles on the edges of paths, interpretive signs degraded or missing. Don't bring the kids if they want to see lots of marsupials, they'll be disappointed. Teal and cape barren geese in abundance. No parks staff on hand. A nice walk, but incredibly upsetting given what the sanctuary used to offer the upcoming generations. Whoever made the decision to de-fund this Vic Parks facility clearly cares more about cost shifting and running accomodation services (the old reception building) than educating about conservation.

The last time I visited with Grandchildren about 2 yrs ago and was good. Recently took an interstate visitor, and was terrible. Rundown, hardly any birds, a couple of kangaroos. Don't bother visiting.

Loved it!

The peace and serenity from walking around the park was so peaceful.

They should just say that they don't want kids visiting.we were the only people there besides the rangers.the kids were told they weren't allowed to carry sticks because it would "scare the birds" (they didn't throw the sticks or take the sticks anywhere near the wildlife) and when they let the gates close they were told they needed to make sure they closed them more quietly-even tho the gates were old, clunky and heavy, the type that squeal closed regardless of how you close them- because it was "stressing the birds" you weren't allowed to leave the path.the walk was not that exciting and the birds were ones that you can see at the local reserve except for one or two.go to wilsons prom if you want to see Australian native animals.or the you yangs if you want a good bush walk. This was disappointing.

This place felt like freedom! I took the camera and took stunning photos of the animals! The part I love about most how they keep a open wide space for the animals, good job!

Not so many animals but a very unique experience. Kids first experience of ponding. Pulling out water bugs and investigating. Great to be nature. A free experience. Bathroom facilities located next to car park.

Had a wonderful time taking my kids to see the animals. Beautiful scenery, the walk was very easy and the paths were in really good condition. It was lovely to have a couple of emus pop in to say hi at the picnic area next to the carpark. If you are into bird watching I would highly recommend coming for a visit.

The sanctuary is fairly good, but it seems to be unattended for a long time. Not sure if it is because of the COVID. It's not guaranteed to see animals. Many cages are occupied by grasses in meters long. It is still a good place for a walk through. If you want to see kangaroos and other animals, you'll need to come multiple times.

Great wildlife sanctuary with great birdlife and a few marsupials. Easy to walk around. Allow about 3-4 hours if you want to walk every track.

Very interesting but looking a little tired. Possibly because of COVID restrictions.
I have never seen so many Magpie Greece in my life, a breeding program seems to have been almost too successful!

Fantastic Sanctuary, fantastic lunch area right next to the car park with inquisitive emus thrown in. Well maintained and beautifully designed and executed sanctuary responsible for saving the magpie geese from extinction. Well worth visiting

Nice place for a walk and to see wildlife. Kids enjoy the place. There are so many magpie geese, wallabies and other different birds to see. There is a free tour that operates every Saturday.

My favourite place to sit and unwind. Perfect for children/strollers and wheelchairs. Clean toilets and picnic area. Please remember to take your rubbish away with you! I am a regular visitor. Photos are courtesy of my husband Marcelo @mypicofview
