Seppelt Cellar Door reviews
60 Our tour guide was amazing she knew the history and the stories of the underground drives and also knew the wines. It was fun but formative. I would recommend anyone to go my hubby doesn't drink wine but he enjoyed the tour so I got to do the testing and he drove home.
A very friendly winery
What do you do on a rainy day? Go underground. Do this tour! You get a whole history of these pioneering families and the story of wine making in the area. Alan’s explanations of his work life and expertise are just great. Tour goes for about an hour and finishes with a brief tasting.
Excellent touring experience. Special mention and shout out to Alan who did the tour of the place and the wine tasting afterwards.
Beautiful service and some of the great wines and history one can get. Must visit! Very affordable tasting and touring service as well.
My partner and I were lucky enough to be the only people on the tour today, conducted by Linda.
Very informal and amazing to see apart of history. Highly recommend stopping off and doing the tour and sampling the wines
Fantastic experience at Seppelt characterised by a wonderful selection of wines, pleasant atmosphere, beautiful grounds, and excellent service at the bar.
The Tour plus the wine tasting is a must do when passing through the country side. Would come back again
If you’re a fan of bubblies and history, put this on your to-do list.
Friendly and informative wine tour guide, a walk through history and a good bubblies tasting session.
All for $15 (per adult). What more could you ask for?
This cellar door is quite tired and dated. Also despite brochures advertising a cafe, it was closed.
Our group of six joined Linda for a most worthwhile tour of the winery. Linda's knowledge, good humour and delivery were appreciated. Tickets included tastings so we continued chatting with the delightful Linda who then delivered our purchases to the car. Food is only available on weekends at the moment so we found a table for our own biscuits, cheese and dip and relaxed in the sun while we waited for our tour. Afterwards, as we drove out we felt we'd made a great start on our 4 day adventure out of the city.
Very interesting place, we did not do the tour however the staff are very knowledgeable and very friendly, which was great for us because it meant we were comfortable asking a number of questions that we have always had about the wine making process, Tom and Allan answered all of our questions in an easy going way.
Also learnt that this was the first place in the world to make sparkling Shiraz.
Highly recommend this for the cellar tour, a real slice of Victorian wine history. The guide was friendly and informative and the tour through the old cellars was fascinating.
Absolutely brilliant tour of this place. Glimpses of the two original homesteads, one a lovely late 1800s Victorian Italianate place. Interesting history of past owners and their architectural and winemaking legacies. Astonishing bottle storage in hand-dug cellars stretching 3km. Loved it. Genuinely fascinating. Top job, Linda!
On a hot day, a tour of the cellers is most welcome. For $15 you get the tour and wine tasting. Enjoyed the little tour and intro to the history of the estate. Very generous tasting at the end and they didn't mind us working our way through most the bottles.
Craig (i think) the taller/ easy going and humorous gentleman was extremely hospitable and highly knowledgable of wine to the fullest extent! He cut the jargon and told things how they actually were.
An interesting journey through the Australian history of wine making with a stellar collection of wines.
Excellent locally run cellar door. We were able to taste a great range of wines including the inventors of sparkling Shiraz. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Don't be scared it's not the dodgy Sepplets tmyou remember
Super interesting/cool tour! Great tour guide! Creepy black moss growing in the cellar and tons of tunnels made it feel like an adventure! Got to taste some sparkling wines at the end too! Recommend!
Great experience, tour is very interesting and a bit of an adventure. Knowledge staff and great wines.
The birthplace of the Great Australian staple - Sparkling Shiraz. Thank you for this innovative invention, Seppelt!
