Seng Hing Gourmet reviews
49 Best cantonese food in Melbourne. Hidden gem, small, but awesome. They manage to serve great food with great quality over years without change of taste.
I always go to eat here either A1,2,3,4 or S (food menu code) + with scrambled egg. They tastes awesome. Everyone like it. After study, badminton, always eat here. Never gone wrong.
5/5! Amazing
Taste: 5/5
Portions: medium
Price: $-$$
The food was delicious, however it was a bit too salty and oily.
A little gem right next to Caulfield station. Our favourite dish is lemon chicken and this was great! All the food was nicely cooked and tasted delicious.
I recommend you to try the duck with scrambled egg but be careful it can be addicted bcs its so goood and dont forget to put the chilli oil on it!
Seng Hing is one of my favourite Chinese Restaurant. I have been dining here for a long time and frequently. I’ve tried over 90% of the dishes on their menu. The food is absolutely delicious, rich flavour, good variety, descent size serving and unbeatable prices. If you’re a meat lover I recommend belly pork hot pot, beef brisket hot pot, deep fried pork chop with lemon grass, deep fried spicy pork and chicken with jelly fish. We ordered 6 dishes tonight, great feed, very satisfied.
Terrible customer service, stay away from it!
Ordered a Curry beef brisket rice (in Cantonese), the man then came back using English asking "you want beef or brisket? ", I said "brisket", then he asked "brisket only? ", then I said yes.
After that, he came back with a beef brisket rice without curry. The man asked me if I can use chill sauce instead, I told him it's not the thing i wanted. After that he shouted at me, blaming me that I am the one who order brisket and It was my fault and I was the one to be blamed. Then the female staff came over, shouted and blamed at me as well, they then went to the kitchen to complain to the chef, who join them continued blaming me. So, all three staffs keep nagging and complaining! The man then came back with the curry beef brisket rice, with a condescending tone, saying this curry rice is free for you, but the beef brisket rice he thought was the result of my mistake needed to be paid.while I understand that there is miscommunication, but their attitude was reactive, rude, and abusive! All three people just think they were right and keep blaming a customer!
I regularly went to this restaurant just because we shared the same language (cantonese), but i was really disappointed by the way they treat me! I absolutely don't come back again! Not worth it.especially this man who did not admit his mistake but just blaming on other. I only see this male staff this year, clearly he was new and speak very poor English.
My friend helped me pack salted fish and chicken fried rice and tomato bacon and egg fried rice. They are delicious.
Great food, cooked fresh. Had the chicken in black bean and beef honey and pepper. Will definitely be back next time I am in Malvern.
Food was beautiful as usually. Same chefs every time i go there. Very reasonable price. Cant beat it.
Tried the prawn and egg sauce noodle and the spicy and salted crispy chicken on rice. Those seemed tone their popular dish. Will come back and try other food on the menu. Saw another customer having the bitter gourd chicken on rice. Looks delicious
Have been a long term customer of Heng Sing due to studied at Monash University for 2 years. I would come and order the special fried rice every once a while.but in recent months, we started coming back to eat at Seng Hing and the Salt and Pepper Chicken rice with egg sauce is super tasty and this is one of my favourite meals in Melbourne at the moment.the boss lady seems getting old and gets sick very easily.suggest please take more rest and hire a part timer.
Not one to leave a review behind but this Chinese joint hits different. Best Chinese dishes I’ve had.
Also can BYO added bonus
My family and I keep coming back to eat here. Their spicy deep fried pork chop on rice and duck with scrambled egg on rice are my favourites. Don’t forget to have their amazing chilli
The food is just ok but the service are the worst. If you want to be ignored and treated rudely then come here, but why don’t choose Karen’s Diner instead? At least Karen’s decoration are fancy.
I used to come here when I was studying at Monash University. The food hasn’t changed in the past 10 years. Best Cantonese restaurant in Melbourne. The food tasted exactly like what you’d get in Guangzhou & HK.
Great food and reasonably priced. Hope can hire more staff, the lady serving us looked quite overwhelmed
I love this place!
It has the sweetest staff and yummy food that is really affordable. I come here every time I’m at university!
I can’t recommend more
So amazing.spicy chicken and rice.yum, the ladies are so lovely. The food is so cheap. We order the same every time- entree Bbq pork, spicy chicken on rice and asian greens! The best.we travel 45 minutes to get there!
Been coming here since uni days and literally 20 years later, they still serve the same delicious Cantonese food. Between the food and the lovely ladies, it just feels like having a meal with family
We had the most enjoyable dinner today. The food was awesome, the banquet option for $64 for 2 people could easily feed 3 or 4 if not too hungry, and lastly, but not the least importantly: the ladies who served us were so very nice with a really warm and welcoming attitude. Will definitely revisit. P. S. I rarely take pictures of food, but when they brought us the 5 dishes which make up the banquet, they looked impressive!
