Scion Wine

What a breath of fresh air, after some terribly snotty service from other cellar doors we came to Scion and felt like part of the family. Super friendly service and passion for what they do. Wines are divine, lovely selection. Will be back for sure.

Have thoroughly enjoyed my recent order with the very drinkable summer red, and cracking Durif, Viognier, and durif/viognier. Will def be getting more of those. Would have given 5 stars but the Rose was really disappointing. A bit of smoke taint there perhaps but it was a difficult year with the bushfires last year.

We were a walk in for wine tasting, luckily they were able to fit us in. Staff were great and took the time to talk to us, and explain why their Muscat was different to the others in the region. Would definitely recommend taking the time to do a tasting if you're in Rutherglen. We bought a bottle of the Muscat X and Durif as well when we left!

The selection is very limited so I can’t give more than 3 stars but the Muscat was quite nice. The $10 cellar door price is on the website but I made the mistake of not checking how many wines are available to try. If your a picky drinker that are only interested in a few varieties then it might be very hard to get $10 worth of value.

We had a fantastic experience at Scion and are new loyalists. Louanne and Rowly were knowledgeable, warm and friendly and it was super interesting to hear about the different wines they are making and how they are pushing the boundaries and changing things up. Wines were fresh, innovative and well made, we had trouble leaving any behind! Tasting room has a clean, modern fit out and is dog friendly for well behaved pooches. Bookings are (currently?) necessary for tastings so do book online or phone ahead.

Wow, some really inventive winemaking and some stunning flavours from this winery today. A must visit on your next Rutherglen trip.

Loved our visit to Scion. Interesting, elegant and drinkable wines in a stylish but sustainable setting. Really enjoyed chatting to the winemaker to learn about the ethos behind each style and winemaking and vineyard techniques. Definitely worth a visit!

Great range of wines that are a bit different but amazingly good. The tasting toom was a very pleasant experience with a nice and knowledgeable wine maker. Lovely to come across something new and fresh. A great find.

Louanne was amazing, walking us through some great wines and we had a good chat. The wines are very interesting and different to what you usually see around but very delicious. Some great duriffs!

If you're after a truly authentic, warm, welcoming and memorable cellar door experience, Scion has to be on your must visit list. Rowly and Sally have an amazing property here in Rutherglen, and their values in crafted, boutique and expressive wines is evident in everything they do. A lovely welcome from Sasha, their friendly wine dog, immediately puts a smile on your face. A cellar door with a gorgeous Aussie bush outlook, a strong sense of place, and of course a collection of limited small batch wines that are worthy of a postcard home.

Rowly and Jan were wonderful! Scion was first on the recommendations from friends if we were doing Rutherglen! (We didn't go there first?) But that doesn't matter. They are a must if you are visiting the area. Or that good for a road trip just to see them. We will be back ️

The selection of wines on offer was really good.
Member of staff whom hosted my friends and I was really knowledgeable and attentive. This was a suprise as there was another patron present, she was able to be attentive to both groups.

Great variety of wine and all of them worth trying! Did not leave empty handed Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff! Definitely well worth the detour.

Came here as part of Lil Tipsy tours. The tasting included whites, reds and fortified wines. My favourite was the Syrah, the wines we tried are in a leaflet attached (prices may change over time as we tried specific batches). They were very knowledgeable and friendly.
