RuYi Modern Chinese

Had the 7 course and while they very attentively plied us with wine, after the first 4 courses we waited 40 minutes for the next course. The quality and taste of the food was good however the servings were meagre and the general consensus was there was not enough food. We were a group of 10 so perhaps this presented some difficulties however they had the right to refuse our booking if they thought they could not cope. We had the 7 course on their recommendation as this would be easiest for them with a group our size.

We had dinner at RuYi before 'Six', the food was amazing. We had the shao long bao, veg bao baos and the steamed barramundi for mains. The staff are just lovely, very knowledgeable about the food and wine. They made sure everything was delivered on time.
We will definitely be back!

Cozy atmosphere and delicious food, particularly the vegetarian bao. My waiter was very kind and the right amount attentive. Appreciate the vegan options. All in all a lovely meal

We had an amazing experience at Ruyi- kind and lovely staff who I can’t compliment enough, and incredible food! We had the 5 course tasting menu and left very full and very very happy:) it was a lovely place to spend an anniversary- quiet with very nice ambience and cozy vibes. Will definitely come back- thanks for a wonderful evening.

RuYi oozes character. We were served by Mercy and Sedrick and they were fabulous in the attention they gave us, the narrative and culture connections they presented. This was an absolutely beautiful experience. The food was great. Minimalist decor. I liked the earthy stone serving platters that added to the presentation and beauty of the dishes.it’s quaint presence goes along with the subtle tastes it offers. However, it deserves more attention. We were here for the second time and will come again

An absolute delight. The food was wonderfully varied and unique in presentation and flavour. Enjoyed the 5 course set menu and they catered for vegetarians in our group. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

We were so pleased to finally book our office christmas dinner at Ruyi. What made the occasion even better was that they were able to accomodate several dietary requirements. Our crew is a bit picky but that didnt stop them from downing the awesome cocktails on offer and having a merry time. Many thanks to the service staff and the food was amazing. Had a great night before the holidays.

Had a very good experience at RuYi modern chinese. Amazing food and great experience provided by their team. The 5 course meal is very good value, nice portions for the price.

Great service and vibe/decor but the food was sub par. Spicy wontons had no spice/heat, flaming prawns were lacklustre, honey wasabi chicken was odd - sauce tasted way too sweet and the duck rolls were much the same as you could make yourself at home. Everything was fine. And sounded delicious on the menu but really lacked some finesse when it came to putting it all together. Also, $10 for a carafe of soda water is ridiculous. I’m happy to pay a nominal fee but $10?

Staff were all lovely and attentive and we really liked the fit out, but we don’t need to come back.

Came here with my wife on a friday night and had a super experience. We went for the 8 course set menu. The kingfish was excellent but both our favourite was the numbing beef. Great flavour! The service was spot on and made sure our courses arrived at a comfy pace. Wonderful place.

The five course meal was fantastic and all the staff were so friendly. Well priced but absolutely incredible service.

This is the perfect spot for a pre-show meal. We were heading to the princess theatre and this lovely place was just around the corner. We asked if we could be done in 45 mins and in time for the show and they said no worries. What a smooth and hassle free experience that was. Well done!

Amazing food, very unique and beautifully presented. We've been back multiple times and they never cease to impress. Impeccable service, the owner is also so welcoming, friendly and helpful also!

During my visit to RUYI, I found the food enjoyable. I ordered the vegetarian dumplings, eggplant fries, quails, kingfish, barramundi and créme brûlée, deep fried tofu. However, a let down was the service. The individual waitstaff were very nice but the female supervisor/manager had a very negative aura. She appeared blunt and had a scolding like manner of talking whilst she would constantly scold the other waitstaff in proximity of customers. I also find it bit strange that all 5 of the the waitstaff were male except for the manager. The rating would have been higher at if not for the service.

This place is insane. The food is next level good. We got the 5 course tasting menu and the food was so good that we were almost about to ask if we could get the 9 instead. But once we got to our last item we were so full. We even came back the next day to get takeaway chicken wings. The atmosphere is so calm and all the workers there are so nice. It has an authentic feel to it and would defiantly come here again next time i visit Melbourne. I would give this place 6/5 stars if I could.
