RuYi Modern Chinese

Celebrated my birthday at Ru Yi. The food was amazing and service was great too. Will definitely return when we visit Melbourne again.

Decided to go in based on the reviews but the flavours were disappointing. Almost every dish we ordered was either too sweet, had too much vinegar or heavy on soy. Portions were decent sized.

Service and ambience was lovely however.

Our whole experience was outstanding, the food and service was brilliant. We would recommend RuYi without hesitation.

A bit hard to find but definitely worth the trip - truly wonderful modern Chinese! The Kingfish was to die for! The Numbing Beef was fabulous - perfectly caramelised, and we also tried the Tingling Prawns, which managed to be full of flavour without overwhelming the prawns. And a decent wine list too! Thanks for a truly fabulous meal!

RuYi is a winner, we had the five course banquet which consisted of four amazing starters and a fifth course of three different mains that came together and were all delicious with plenty to eat until you're completely filled up!

Had an early dinner here today and had a really great gastronomic experience. There’s a la carte with very good selection of food at a very reasonable price. Then there’s 5/7 course meal where the kitchen picks and chooses for you. We went for the 5 course and that was very impressive. Great food, good portions, well seasoned and really delish! The staffs especially the staff helping us was very helpful and attentive. Seatings are well spaced and not intrusive. Super close to Princess Theatre so good place for a meal. Def will be coming back.

Artful menu that translated in vibrant fresh deliciousness. We had 7 course set menu, each course presented as a story on the plate. And as for the service, we thank RuYi team for the friendliest and most attentive wait service we have experienced anywhere in the world.

Came in for dessert, and immediately the atmosphere was lovely. Met by kind staff, the waitress took our order of the dessert tasting plate, along with a lychee and pomegranate spritzer.

Not too long after, we were greeted by an enchanting platter of ricotta dumplings, creme brulée, and apple crumple. Every dessert was delectable and paired very well with the spritzer.

Definitely coming back again!

Disappointed. Had such good reviews so decided to try it out. Very tiny portions, no veggies at all with the meats. Most dishes dunked in soya sauce. Fish was tasteless. No wonder restaurant was almost empty.
Could have fared much better in heaps of other restaurants with far less reviews

It’s modern Chinese food in a lovely atmosphere. Fine dining with a focus on delicious well balanced meals with aromatic flavours. They are vegan friendly! You will have lots of vegan options to choose from. Every dish was top notch
The interior is stunning and the setting is gorgeous. Relaxed atmosphere in general.
Service is great as well.

Szechuan eggplant fries
Very fresh and pure flavours.
Also their drinks are perfect and fit well with the menu.

Really hip and modern interior coupled with interesting and very tasty food. Really modern vibe

The most unauthentic Chinese food we've ever had. Waiters served us with very fake politeness. The food was cooked extremely slowly, and the waiters constantly ignored us, treated us with no passion nor respect. Food was mid for its taste, but it was no Chinese food. The food portions were astonishingly small. Even the mushrooms tasted better than the actual "wagyu". I don't recommend this restaurant at all.

Booked RuYi based on the good reviews, it wasn’t at all dissappointing. On arrival, we felt the relaxed fine dining vibe, the deco is elegant and the greeting from the staff was warm and welcoming.
With the help of our host, we picked our first cocktails for the evening, the ginger ginger and the 5 spice old fashioned were just delicious!
The food was spectacular, we had the five course set menu. The chicken wings were especially nice. Finished off with a dessert sharing plate, an unforgettable dining experience.

So wonderful to return to Ruyi! Had the five course meal, a glass of their excellent shiraz from the Barossa Valley, and a Ginger Ginger cocktail. My favourite! Highlights were the tofu and the bao bao, as usual. Highly recommend.

Spent six weeks in Melbourne for work. Ruyi was hands-down the best dinner I had while i was there (and I tried a lot of places!). The kingfish ceviche and soft shell crab were perfection, the peking duck cones were amazing, and the chilli wontons and shao long bao were delicious too. Not an average dish in sight. The service was on point, and the atmosphere was great. Thank you for the experience. Loved it!
