Rubicon Fish Shop

It's a fish and chip shop.the fish is battered and cooked once ordered which is what you want. On my last visit there was a freak storm event which kept us all trapped inside so a few of us made the most of it and ate in the store and it was fun meeting new people. Staff are friendly and the food is fresh and great.

Although the fish was cheap and the service was fast and good, my overall experience with this food was subpar.off the bat i was already recommended to not get chips from this shop and instead get chips from nextdoor.regardless of how bad they actually were it was enough difference for me to be recommended to get chips somewhere else. The flake itself was nothing out of the ordinary though did not come with any lemon with also was disappointing. Overall, there are definitely better shops in ballarat to get fish and chips from and would definitely recommend going somewhere else instead. 3/10

This used to be my go to Fish & Chips, Not No More.ordered grilled fish paid $8ish for it and was disgusted in the size, what a disgrace to actually serve this to people who spend their hard earned money on take away. I called and complained but they weren't really interested you could even hear the girl I was talking to snickering. Won't be back sadly.

The chips were old and zero flavour. The potato cakes needed more time to cook but apart from that the burger was tasty as well as the spring rolls

The food was awesome. Have been looking for somewhere to go since Pleaseant St closed. FOUND IT!

Excellent quality fish and chips. The burger is also pretty good and very reasonably priced.

This place feels like a Fish and Chip shop, and they cook the fish perfectly, ours was moist and perfect. Good enough to tempt a vegetarian!

Most of the time the fish, chips and potato cakes are overcooked and oil needs to be changed guys. Used to always be lovely. Am looking for a new venue. Young staff look disinterested. Senior lady actually knows what she's doing and was checking orders for salt, often forgotten.

I have stopped ordering the fish here as it is paper thin!
New owners have cut the extras, and all but run this into the ground… several other options available in the area!

No complaints about this fish shop. The fish is fresh and no.problem if you ask for the fish to be grilled. This fish shop does have a good reputation.

Ordered 2 steak sandwiches, potato cakes and chips for dinner. Got home and the bread wasn’t toasted and bread was soggy. Chips disappointing and really dark.

Worst part about it was when we called back to let them know about the sandwiches there was zero accountability only hostility.

Yeah nah.not going back.

Great place for fish and chips. Always consistent- good value for money. Can't give 5 stars because fish and chips are always subjective but we've found this is one of the better ones around.

We always bought from there but the last few times they've dropped the ball on food quality. Our last meal was overcooked. Bit dry, taking away flavour and fish seemed alot smaller.

Worse meal. It was left for awhile at back of fryer then left of the counter. Finally wrapped up. Open it up to a Luke warm very soggy oily mess.
Waste of money uneatable so ended up in bin. Won't go back again.

New to the area, looking for a decent fish n chip shop and came across Rubicon Fish Shop.
Looked busy, so thought, why not. What a mistake.
Started the minute I opened the bag. Looked like a half serve compared to the fillet you normally get at a fish shop. Soon as I put my fork in it, I noticed it didn't crumble the way fish normally does. The fish fillet was no different to a piece of rubber, completely inedible. Never have I had a grilled fish so bad. In fact, if the serving of chips was the same, I wouldve given this shop 0 stars. If all you're after is some chips and maybe a potato cake or 2, no worries, or else, I would stay well clear of this shop. I won't be back.

Great range of fish, chips, and all the other items you would expect, also Chinese dishes. Take phone orders or walk in. Staff efficient. Parking is easy. They also have an exposure machine which maesit super easy

I think they have the best chips, never greasy and the grilled Butter Fish is very yummy and comes with a little side salad.

Returning to the shop cause half of my order was missing.finally got home 15 k's later to find to find part of the order
They were ment to fix.still missing
