Royal Mail Hotel reviews
57Stopped off for a dinner in transit to Mansfield. Lovely pub meal, friendly staff, very happy to recommend.
Great meal (again) - new menu, but didn’t disappoint. Great decor, friendly staff. Have dined here before and will continue to do so
Dropped in for dinner on our way through Yea. We had calamari, veal schnitzel and spaghetti bolognese, moscato and great Northern beer. All the meals were hot, fresh and delicious. Drinks were cold! Service was friendly. Would recommend
What a surprising pub! Great new decor. Good food and beverages. Indoor or out, your choice. Definitely worth a visit. Try the Sunday Roast!
Staff were very slow not sure if it's the slow country mode. They were annoyed that we had a big group but were happy to sit outside.
Kids playground needed an update it was very unsafe.
The bar staff were uninterested to serve.
The food was average, prices were not comparable with quality overcooked meat and chips. Kids nuggets were burnt as well as the fish, food wasn't fresh and wait time took ages. Not much cheese or garlic on cheese garlic pizza.
Drinks jugs could do with a good scrubbing. We were tempted to scratch wash me on the inside.
Waste of money, the girl behind the bar was nice but one of the men working (maybe owner?) made us feel like we weren’t aloud to be there even said “oh i wouldnt have sat you here you should be over there” with a bad look and no explanation of what that meant. The $30 veal schnitzel was pink, and the $50 surf and turf steak we ordered medium came out completely rare boarder-line blue. The steak wasnt eaten at all and because of the unwanted feeling we felt and the fact kitchen was closed for lunch we decided to just get out of there. Gutted we wasted money. Do NOT recommend and will NOT be going back.
Went here with the family.there was 11 of us and they made us feel like we were an inconvenience.the food was average. The playground needs a lot of attention.was nervous to have grand baby playing in it. The service was slow I understand that we had a big group but even bar staff were unimpressed with us ordering. A smile goes a long way.
Slightly upmarket pub fare, worth the extra couple of dollars, staff were great couldn't have worked any harder (clearly understaffed)
Large (18) group pre booked. 4 meals did not even come out. Waited for close to an hour. We questioned where they were and the Manager came up and accused us of ordering the wrong items. No apology at all.
When the pizzas came out they were pretty average. Negligible toppings, specifically the bratwerst and kabana headline toppings were not even on each piece. Very poor experience. Would not recommend.
Other tables near us waited even longer.
If you cannot get enough staff. Do not accept so many bookings.
Expensive and the Parma had bacon? Who puts bacon on a Parma ham yes bacon no. Meal selection ordinary and expensive
Our first time visiting Yea and stayed at the Royal Mail Hotel for the evening. Absolutely brilliant. The food was amazing. The room was excellent with extremely comfortable bed. The Owner, Alister, was beyond accommodating for us and really went above and beyond to assist us in every way he could. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Alister.
Called in for lunch yesterday. Very accommodating to us in the beer garden ad we were travelling with our 2 dogs. Food was delicious. Tried a local cider that was awesome!
Accommodation was fantastic, rooms clean, decor lovely. Meals and staff very Accommodating, Alistair a great host. Definitely will be back
Slow service and severely understaffed behind the bar. $52 steak overcooked and broccoli was still raw. Sad to see a good pub go downhill. A little girl dining in the restaurant suggested to her parents they should’ve gone to Bonnie Doon, and I don’t disagree.
Good stopping point for dinner while on the move. Good pub food as you would expect for a reasonable price.
Upon entering as a table of 12, we were shown our table and told to order at the bar. When we went to order there was no line or system to show where a line would be, so when the person in front finished ordering we turned to the people next to us and they agreed ‘you were here first’ so we started to approach the bar to have a hand up to our face from the barman and ushered the other couple over who said ‘no they were here first’ to which he completely ignored them and said come on, I’ll serve you first.
Eventually after a lengthy wait, our ‘cob loaf’ came out… now this was just a standard plate of garlic bread. Advertising is key, we would not have ordered it if we knew it was garlic bread. Very disappointing. We had indeed only ordered this due to there being 2 vegetarian options.
The rest of the meals arrived and one of the children had a spaghetti bolognese. Now, I will say this was actually a fair sized portion for kids and it was being enjoyed until she crunched on a piece of plastic in her meal. We were offered for a new meal or ‘I can give you some money’ which was not very business like way to offer a refund.
All in all after a long day and a break up of a long drive it was a fairly disappointing dinner experience.
We phoned ahead and they had our meals ready, hot and delicious. Will definitely stop again next time we are passing through Yea.
Great range of meals, very friendly and helpful staff. Good space and lots of large tables for a group to gather at.
Under very busy circumstances, a long weekend and the town was packed! Alistair and his team offered great food and fast service.
Looking forward to our next visit.
We had an excellent stay at the hotel. Alistair was a great host, the food was excellent, the rooms beautifully appointed. Love to come back one day.
