Royal Mail Hotel reviews
42Very nice food plenty of it. Staff courteous. Visited twice thus far. Last visit only one chef on duty so there was a bit of a wait till we got our food but most enjoyable anyway.
Myself and family stood at the entrance waiting to be seated for around 15 minutes before finally giving up and going elsewhere. Seemed to be understaffed; I could only see one staff member in the kitchen and another in the bar with their back to us the entire time, nobody attending to tables - and certainly not the door.
Pleasant servers and good food in a nice fairly newly renovated environment. Seniors meal deals ($20.00) are quite generous as are regular meals.
Soup was served with garlic buttered toasted quality bread. Not stingy serves. To save money, if you wish, buy wine and beer by the glass rather than Piccolo's and Bottled beer. Parking is at rear and if you've had too much of everything, you can always consider a stay over in a hotel room or new motel unit at rear.
Arrived happy, left happier. Not perfect in all respects but 5 Stars because I'm hankering to go again asap!
We love the Royal Mail in Whittlesea. We eat there whenever we visit Whittlesea. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and efficient.
Australia day evening, took too long, more than an hour to get meals, rare steak served medium, garlic seafood sauce was consitancy of glugy gravy and same color, salads had no dressing, and who has ever seen pink tartare sauces seems like they had run out of things and just mixed stuff to get by and even charge the three of us a total of $9 for the privilege of eating their ordinary food on a public holiday, did not see value for money
Quite disappointed, the salt and pepper calamari was so oily and soggy it was like chewing a rubber band. I expected for the prices they charge the food would be better quality. Very disappointed!
It is such a pleasure to eat and attend the Royal Mail Hotel. The staff are always happy, the food is extremely yummy and the place is so relaxing. Thank you.
My salad had brown lettuce. I prefer fresh. The beef lasagne was lacking beef. It was an end slice and was just pasta no beef. It looks unappealing and didn't taste much better. The chips were oily. Service was really friendly and good covid safe practices
Went for a fund raiser they opened the pub at 8 pm and they did a marvelous job the Taylor family and friends thank you.
Night before Melbourne lock down in February 2021, and this place was busy. Fish and chips were great. Banana split was delicious. Maybe we're getting old, but it was very noisy, and not really what we expected from a 'sort of country pub'. Staff ignored us after our main meal, and we had to ask at bar to order dessert. We asked for bill, but could have walked out without paying. Maybe due to snap 5 day lock down they were unexpectedly very busy, but it was a Friday night, so usually it would have been a good crowd in any case.
When meal was ordered it was double checked at the time. Was incorrect and when meals came out 3 different meals came out and were asked if they were ours. The entree came out after the main (as a main size serving). That meal was refunded, no issue with that. Roast of the day came with what looked like a frozen medley of beans, peas, corn and carrot.
Great but only issue the menu states that they have a gluten free menu and all meals with a # are supposed to be GF, but I couldn't find any. When I asked why they weren't shown on the menu the response was there was an error when they reprinted the menu! Just fix it.
Very difficult not to be too complimentary after being in lockdown for so long, but being realistic, this was a joy of a place to go to. Light and airy with some very friendly staff and good covid safety precautions. The meals were generous, tasty, and, given the circumstances, reasonably quick. The Decor and menu were excellent. I would go again. Oh yes, and prices were a pleasant surprise!
Good pub meals. Recently renovated premises. Lovely outdoor undercover beer garden. Comfortable outdoor decked area for smokers.
Had a chicken schnitzel and a beer as I usually go for staple food at pubs. Nothing stood out, salad with plain mayo, crumb had little taste. It was only satisfying as we were hungry. Having pubs in the country side is always inviting as they're a good excuse to go for a drive and away from the city to end up with a good meal and a beer but I don't think this would be the case. Guys it'd be awesome to make the Royal a nicer experience as you have one of the fastest growing corridors in Oz at your doorstep: Mernda, Doreen, Wollert, Donnybrook, etc. So many potential customers.
Tje meal was delicious and great service, caught up with family stayed 4 hrs with young kids.
Me and a few friends came in for dinner and we were served by an older lady with black hair who was incredibly condescending and extremely rude, the other staff have great customer service but I think the older women should have a look In the mirror and realise they work at a pub and not a corporate enterprise.
Large amount but not cooked enough hard to chew on. Emmmmm proporly not come back. Vegimite mashed potatoes? Who designed?
Had Dinner here with my partner tonight. Staff were lovely and main meals were nice but the sticky date pudding I had was not nice and I couldn't eat it all. It was very doughy. I mentioned this to one of the staff and they said that the person who made it, put the wrong flour into the mixture. This dessert should have been taken off the menu. To serve a dish up that is known to not be right is very bad for business
Good country pub with good atmosphere. Pub style meals are usually good value for money and good quality.
