This was the second visit to the Royal Hotel thought we would try it again food last time was just okay, the staff at the Hotel are very friendly and helpful but the food needs improvement l ordered the most basic meal chicken Parma chips and salad the salad was 4 wilted spinach leaves onion with a huge dollop of mayo the chips had been cooked several times tasted terrible the chicken Parma was also left my husband ordered the rissoles and he was very disappointed. No love in the food that we were served maybe the chef should consider a different profession. When you go out for a meal you expect it to be better than what you cook at home.

This is an absolute gem of a place! Amazing food on offer, delicious cocktails and the service is beyond exemplary! We ate the chicken parma, chicken kiev and the pumpkin and spinach risotto - delish, huge servings all in a comfortable family friendly atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and beautiful! Shout out to the girls behind the sports bar and the server boy - you're worth your weight in gold. We'll def be back!

Giving this one star is too much. Went for a mid week lunch with my elderly mother. No service when we came in and were ignored. Had to get our own menus and find a table. The bar staff were extremely rude and we decided to leave before ordering a meal. They didn’t deserve our service. Will never go back. Ended up having a more pleasant experience at another venue.

Food was ok quality. Atmosphere probably suits the area, but my wife and I found the gambling setup and old men sitting in the bar area adjoining the restaurant a bit depressing.

We celebrated my mums 60th here in the function space. Staff were great, and the space was perfect.

Great Country Pub in Melbournes North, a must for any foody or seniors looking for an amazing meal. The prices are very reasonable, with a wide range of dishes with big serves and perfect presentation. The service is very quick, with very friendly bar staff and waitresses. Seniors 2 courses $25, roast of the day supreme. Cheesy garlic bread excellences and off-street parking behind the pub.

I had a seniors lunch, soup and a beef roast. Lovely soup with garlic bread, very filling probably didn't need any more bit the beef roast was lovely with lots of veges

Very disappointing experience. It's been the last 3 visits with friends, and I have been let down. Cold food and portion sizes have gone smaller.
My last visit, which will be the last on Saturday night.
Venue quiet, waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for food. Meanwhile, my friends and hubby got their food, and I was left there twiddling my thumbs. Chefs kept saying it would be 5 minutes, but rubbish, it took another 15 minutes.
Something has changed it was never like this.
Bring back the right employees to make this business shine again.

Would give less than 1 star if possible. Been here a few times and the wait time for food gets longer and longer even though it’s never busy. An hour wait this time, no apologies from management either after asking how long it’d be, just an attitude. Should’ve gone with the refund instead of waiting any longer! Once food finallllly came out, it was cold and the chips were still semi frozen and stuck together. Got maccas on the way home that even tasted fresher.
I do recommend the whittlesea bowls club if you’re looking for something similar in the area with good food!

Pretty disappointed with our meals. It took 45 minutes for the meals to arrive. There wasn't many tables occupied when we placed our order.
We ordered 2 senior roasts and a normal roast. We were given the choice of would you believe "chips or mash" no mention of roast potatoes!
When the 3 meals were delivered, the senior meals came with roast potatoes. Unfortunately, those meals were only luke warm. When the 3rd roast meal was delivered, no roast potatoes but chips instead and her meal was COLD. The other two people on our table ordered lamb cutlets and they came out burnt!
We were all very disappointed as pub meals are usually very good.

Food was reasonable. The seniors fish & chips we had to get the magnifying glass out to find the fish on the plate

Food tastes great, however small serves. I would expect more as the prices are quite high for basic pub meals.
It also took a long time for the meals to come out.

Good size function room for about 40 people.
We were there for a Xmas party, the food and service was good. Also had a private bar.

Had a lovely lunch here with friends. Meals are generous and delicious! Great pub ambience. Will be back!

Not the first bad experience here but will be the last. I ordered a chicken parmigiana and what I received was something chewy and hard to cut. Possibly a white thong covered in sauce and cheese, I'm still unsure

Unfortunately I can only give them One star for the pumpkin soup, even though microwaved, loaded with black pepper, still edible. As for the Lamb Shank (one shank, 70%bone) looked boiled as in a casserole, not baked in oven. Very bland sauce, loaded with carrots, sitting on very mushy bland mashed potatoes, topped with what looked like frozen packeted vegetables (boiled no flavour) My Husband had the barramundi with lemon sauce (their idea of lemon sauce was two sachets of master foods mayonnaise, plus 2 lemon wedges.). Staff were friendly, but not a lot of understanding of the patrons needs. One Staffer was stoking the fireplace and stirring up quite a lot of smoke (to her credit she did open the front door, let in the fresh air, regardless of the 12 degree temperature! Had to put my coat on for the freeze!) she came back and stoked fire again! WTHeck! They need Gordon Ramsey to help them up their game!
Truly overpriced! Visit only if you must!

Food is always good. Good size servings. Nice staff. Always clean. Nice atmosphere. Open wood fire. Indoor outdoor areas kids play area.

First time dining here. Excellent service great food. Good menu selection. Having seniors menu a bonus.

Food and service was good.wine selection available was lacking is our only negative (bar attendant had to go to adjoing bottleo to get us a large bottle, rather than piccolos).
Rather than that.all good
