Royal Derby Hotel reviews
55This review is based on the food. The entertainment and sports were great. Parma was not to standard considering price and the fries were dead cold. Needs a lot of improvement.
Another awesomely awesome pub that Captain Atom Man just loves to visit. The beer garden is magnificent. Actually, the whole pub is magnificent.
21st/11/2012 I Arrived in Melbourne, Right Here at the Royal Derby.
For love.
Almost 8 Years Later, I'm Back.
For love Lost.
Having traveled to QLD a bit it is hard to find a great pub in Victoria that does a decent steak night! The Royal Derby hotel however got it just right:)
Nice juicy medium steak with all the sides and a nice beer for a night out with the mates to top it off.
Used to see great gig's here many years ago. Expensive and a bit yuppified now, and terrible parking! OK to get to via public transport. It seems Brunswick Street is getting tired and worn-out.too expensive and difficult.
Great place to stay for short or long term stay, staff are wonderful and the atmosphere in the pub is perfect, meals are also very good though the steak I had was too rare to be served as a medium. It still tasted great and I wasn't feeling shafted at the end of it.
Went to this place for a friend's private party. As far as I could see, the staff were on top of everything and making sure the host was comfortable. The finger food was really good, good selection on beer and a nice beer garden
Fantastic place for a private function. The room is great and the staff are incredibly accommodating, helpful, and just genuinely lovely. They know their space inside out & know what to do to make it look the way you want. The finger food and cheese platters are delicious and got lots of compliments.
Always reliable, cute scruffy old pub. Wait staff were so busy being chatty with mates however that they messed up our order. Messing up 'two pots of the tap ale pls' means you are SUPER not paying any attention. We let it slide and just paid for the pints
I booked the Les Hughes function room only a week out for a surprise 30th for my girlfriend. Right from the beginning my needs were caterred for. The Events coordinator Sasha paid careful attention to ensure everything I asked for would be done. She organised everything from the photographer, Dj, decorations and more. On the night the area manager Rowan and Ella and the rest of the staff were super lovely and made sure that everything ran smoothly for my girlfriend's special night. I believe the price I paid was very fair for the high quality service and experiexpe we got. The venue itself was ideal and I got wonderful feedback from all of my guests about the venue. I highly recommend hiring this venue!
Came to the darby after having an awful experience at another local pub and just needed a feed and some drinks with no hassle. Oh boy the darby went above and beyond, great deals, amazing bartenders and great food. I was having an awful night and within minutes of entering the darby my night had turned around. I really appreciate the service I recieved.
Ordered 5 steaks with a group. I asked for a medium rare, it came out well done. Returned steak, next one came out blue and had the texture of boot leather full of gristle. Pretty poor form really. Won’t be going back.
The staff are so friendly and helpful here. I was able to book a table for the Khabib fight despite the busy period. They care about UFC and make sure it's the best experience for customers unlike other venues I've been too. Wait staff are accommodating and approachable. Food is really good here as well. Try the squid!
Really nice pub. I went on Saturday afternoon for lunch and to watch the football. They have a number of rooms so we're able to have all the games on in various spots. Had the Halloumi burger with chips and it did not disappoint. Very nice burger.
Used the function room for a friend's birthday.
Nice and cozy but gets really hot and stuffy if there are roo many people. (Not properly air conditioned)
I really liked this place. Great memorabilia that started great conversation. Good tap beers and great food service
A great atmosphere here watching the footy on Saturday night. Both games were on the screens and thrr was a good sized crowd. Yummy steak too!
Unfortunately really understaffed for the Aus vs. France World Cup game meaning *super* long waits, and they even ran out of jugs (which is not too uncommon for events) and pint glasses (far more of an issue). I'm sure it's probably normally a nice little local watering hole.
Great Place to watch the Football and great big meal. Glad to offer advice if you want to eat something different. Good to see they support local football
It's an old man's bar. People go to watch the footy or sit around the bar. There is a big beer garden with smoking area. A kitchen inside serves pub food. Mostly men here.
