Rosa's Canteen reviews
58Our host tonight was wonderful, really informative with the menu and extremely friendly. Food and drinks were delicious and worth every penny, with very little wait time in between. Also were sweet enough to pop a candle on our friend’s cake for her birthday. Can’t wait to come back again, thank you!
Bought some food from the take away menu yesterday and some wine. Great food and good wine. Great initiative!
Came here for a business dinner with a colleague - close to the hotel in a typical Melbourne winter downpour! We didn't have a reservation, but found a table - possibly a little lucky, as it got pretty busy later on a Tuesday evening. We shared entrees of calamari & the salumi plate - both were excellent. My tagiatelle rabbit ragu was excellent - unlike some restaurants, theye didn't skimp on the meat. My colleagues found his prawn pasta was also excellent. Had execllent service as well - just the right level of attentiveness to make sure we didn't have to wait, without feeloing like we were being pushed out the door. Great place to spend an hour or so in nice surroundings, with great food and good service
Fabulous little, popular little upmarket Sicilian place.
Wonderful service, great food. Highly recommend.
We came to Rosa's for a meal last Friday after my daughter found many positive reviews. We were not disappointed! What a fabulous dining experience, made all the better for David's expert knowledge and confidence in his recommendations. Absolutely will go back there when we are next in Melbourne. Brilliant.
My wife and I went here late one evening with our two year old looking for somewhere nice that would accommodate kids and we weren't let down.
They didn't have a high chair but it doesn't seem like that kind of place, quite contemporary but it wasn't an issue.
Service was excellent, very friendly and great with the little one.
Food was great also, pasta cooked to perfection and the peach ice cream was probably the tastiest ice cream we ever had.
Would highly recommend a trip to Rosa's, tucked away down a lane it's a hidden gem worth digging out.
Delicious food from Entree to Desserts coupled with great selection of wines. Excellent customer service!
Amazing service, amazing food. The pasta dishes were cooked perfectly al dente and the sauces were exquisite. Good wine list on offer but we couldn’t pass up the Campari and blood orange. Dessert special was “berry-misiu” which was divine.
My fiancé took myself and our 3 month old out for dinner last night for my birthday. We both have been wanting to come to Rosas for quite some time but haven’t found time to get there. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by Rosa, sat down and offered water. She broadly went through the menu, the wine list and completely explained the specials which was extremely helpful as you know what it’s like when you go to Italian restaurants. She answered all our questions perfectly. I was so impressed that she found the time to exclusively go through the menu with us while still being able to cater and help anyone else in the restaurant. She done such a fantastic job and made our experience “my birthday” so special. Once our order was taken we got given beautiful bread, olive oil, salt and pepper which was so nice while we waited for entrees. The food was more than amazing and the serving size was great! Water was always poured into our glass and we were always asked if we wanted more drinks off the wine list. And most of all - the wine list stayed on the table which is my absolute pet hate when I dine and I can’t read what wine to try next! So thanks for not walking off with the wine list! You ticked every box! Thanks Rosa and her wonderful staff. 10/10 from me.
We will be back!
This has to he one of the best places to eat in Melbourne. The space is beautiful and minimal with a lovely vista into the trees. The service was sone of the best we’ve had anywhere in Australia. And the food - so delicious! Everything was fresh and tasty, and it was wonderful to watch Rosa work her magic in the kitchen. They even make their own amaro! Be sure to pick up Rosa’s cookbook as well - fantastic!
Food wasn't great. Several people at the table didn't even eat the dishes served. Insufficient food. We left hungry and disappointed.

Wonderful dinner, great selection of wines and drinks, service was excellent. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and before I sat down they had a beer ready at the table! Awesome!
Rosa is doing a great job. David was a wonderful host so thoughtful so considerate, the drink recommendations spot on, the antipasti delicious, and even though at first he said we don't serve it he came up with the most wonderful spaghetti bolognese. We'll be back for more.
Very cool place! Great food, fascinating wines, lovely vibe/service/people, and I swear the young lad is telepathic!
We had a fantastic meal with delicious food and friendly service. Made to feel at home and comfortably. Kids were treated very well with thier own meal to share. Highly recommended. The pasta was so fresh, oh and the wines, while a little expensive sure did taste great.
We came here for birthday dinner. Food was amazing, simple with full of flavour. Love the ambiance and staff were nice. Dessert was delicious, too. Will be back soon.
The food here is a fantastic reminder as to why Melbourne is a foodie capital of the country. The calamari entree was fresh and a great start to our late dinner. We then shared the prawn linguine and the ragu pasta. Both were delicious and flavoursome. I would give this place 5 stars if I could however the con here is that you cannot take away unfinished meals. I am not sure why this is the policy. If you visit, be sure to arrive with an empty stomach and do not over order.
