Regent Theatre reviews
39Beautiful stately theatre with loads of character. Great seating plenty of room, not squashed. Lots of stairs. Interesting ladies loo. We had a lovely experience.
Fabulous theatre. Beautifully restored which adds to the occasion. Convenient central location near Flinders Street Station and Young and Jackson for a meal or drink. We had unimpeded view in centre of stall area as the seats are offset and graduated. Drinks and snacks available in foyer. Preorder drinks for intermission to beat the crush. One of my favourite theatres.
My favourite theatre in Melbourne! It's design, history, comfortable seats.all wonderful. I always get excited when I know we're headed back to see another show there. It's a large theatre so choose your seats wisely!
Fabulous theatre. Incredibly beautiful. A real pleasure just to look at. Then you take your seat and oh, such comfort. The best seats of any theatre I have ever visited. Large and roomy. I felt a sense of history there. Long may it survive.
Went to see the jersey boys.great show but the foyer, bar and toilets set up is so outdated and dysfunctional amazing it still is allowed to operate.
A beautiful theatre. Have seen a number of shows here and always an experience. One barman could serve as if he enjoyed it and liked his job only criticism.
Beautiful theatre with comfy seats. Seated in dress circle, great view of stage and fabulous sounds of The 4 Seasons with interesting story of the boys.
Breathtaking beauty of a bygone era. Get a ticket to a show here and soak in true craftsmenship. A hidden gem, the walk takes you past Dior and other stores but this will take your breath away.
Makes the new cinemas look empty and bland.
What a stunning old world theatre. If the walls could talk! Last minute decision to see Jersey Boys was a monumental success. Started well with a cheaper ticket at the box office, then an upgrade to a seat 10 rowsfrom the stage. The show was great and the performances - brilliant! Met a number of travellers who like me wanted to add a backdrop of great music to their first days in Melbourne. Truly a wonderful evening in a delightful venue.
The Regent Theatre is grand, elegant and refined in a slightly over the top way. Acoustics are great, staff welcoming, seats comfortable if a little awkward to get into.
I recently visited again for the Mary Poppins Gala night and had a blast.
The theatre is always in gorgeous condition, incredibly clean and the staff are organised and informative.
This theatre is so awesomely beautiful! It's been maintained very well. Staff are very friendly, polite, kind, calm and helpful.
After seeing a Christmas performance last night, on the top of my injured knee. I suddenly had a blackout and then had difficulties with staircases. At first a gentlemen helped me to walk down from upstairs to the first floor, and another one, from the ticket box down to a lower level. A young male staff at the front of the theatre also noticed that and reached out his hand to support me to walk down another step to the ground safely. I'm truly very grateful!
Lastly, I never get bored with this theatre.
We were actually at a function in the Regent Ballroom, its a grand experience. The Staff were great and the function management was exceptional. I would recommend it as a venue
How could you not love this place? Amazing architecture and superb quality shows. Whilst difficult to achieve something needs to be done with the limited toilet facilities, particularly for females, and surely it wouldn't be too difficult to have better food and drink options as well
Wow, what an absolutely beautiful old theatre with its architecture and charm. The lighting in the front foyer give it a warm and welcoming ambience with a staircase on either side and balconies halfway up each staircase. The seating is comfortable and art work on ceiling and walls is just as beautiful as the rest of this theatre. All staff are friendly, informative and made us feel welcomed.
The Regent Theatre is one magnificent building. The way they built over 100 years ago was incredible. It is worth just to go there and have a look at its design and features.
Went to see Wizard of Oz. A few of us have mobility issues. Met on the footpath by staff who lead us to the lift to access the theatre, rather than walking up the steps. Most grateful. Staff were so helpful.
A fantastic theatre. Classic decor, comfortable seating and friendly staff. Wouldn't hesitate to return here to catch another production or screening.
This is a wonderful theatre in the heart of Melbourne CBD. I have seen many a great production here and always enjoy a night ensconsed here. The seats are wonderfully comfortable. Being British by birth and having sat in most theatres in the UK, I can say that leg room is always important and Regent Theatre doesn't disappoint. The staff are always friendly and courteous. Sadly, the sound in the current (recent!?) production of The Wizard of Oz wasn't as great as it has been in previous productions, but this is a minor gripe. I love my evenings here and look forward to many more to come.
