Red Herring Escape Rooms Crown Melbourne

Just did the newest escape room "Alien Invaders".

Outside the room, the venue looks grand and beautiful, the staff is very friendly and we were given some warm-up puzzles to do to get our brain ready for the challenges ahead.

Inside the room, the set is very beautiful in all their rooms, the puzzles are cleverly designed and very fun to do. They also have this advance system that "look after" your game which changes or by pass a puzzle for you if you are too stuck, it can be a bit confusing at first but after you know what to expect, it is not a problem for me at all. They also have a game master looking after the game so we can still ask the GM for hint if needed.

All of the three rooms are all family friendly (even the scary room isn't that scary at all), there are restaurants near by and Crown multi-level parking is only $6 for 5 hours which make it so much easier to drive there and spend an afternoon.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for something fun and yet a little challenging to do.

We have developed a habit each time we have a night in the city we do an escape room, this is probably one of the most thought out escape rooms we have done so far. They serve a drink on arrival or you can go there after a few drinks, the staff are super patient and positive they have a great sense of humour! We went in a group of four and we had a fabulous time.

Having just finished the spooky house room, we were really satisfied with both quality and theme. The really friendly staff start you off with a few puzzles which get the problem solving started in your head, then you're off into the room proper and after a brief talk you're on your own. Cleverly, a lot of it is automated so if u take too long to progress on a certain area the room will help you out. Great idea and saves time and frustration if you're stuck and staff are busy outside, for example. Room puzzles were very cleverly realised and there's no lazy esoterica to annoy you. Great job, thanks. We'll do better next time

Really enjoyed the alien room. Billie was very helpful and friendly. I liked the "you need to find us" intro and they had some cool little warm up brain teasers. Very well done theme and atmosphere in the room with only 1 or 2 very minor issues with some of the puzzles but even that is probably me nitpicking. I am definitely looking forward to trying the next room.

Kelsey made our experience that much more magical. She was enthusiastic, outgoing and personal. We loved the challenge of the Alien Invasion and Matt's kind praise once the time was up. Would recommend the Red Herring to anyone and everyone!

Its the best escape rooms i have been to, it uses technology in a very intelligent way with the room giving you hints if you are taking to long on a puzzle in a natural way. The staff particularly the canadian guy was awesome friendly and made our experience fantastic. I know this review seems too good, to be true but it is!

This is my sixth escape room experience (including Alien and the Haunt on the Gold Coast) and the production and puzzle quality in Shutdown is hands down the best. Regular highly entertaining dialogue and a perfectly presented clinically clean sciencey video game related aesthetic.

Kaylee was our hostess today and was an absolute bundle of joy from the second we walked in the door. She was extraordinarily accommodating and makes for an excellent addition to the Red Herring team.

The only quirk I have with the AI systems Strike/Holey Moley is using for these rooms (inc Gold Coast) is that the system will push you past puzzles that you haven't solved within X amount of time. If the players could opt out of that one single feature before entering the room I would consider them near flawless experiences.

Still, Shutdown ended our trip to Melbourne and we couldn't have ended on a greater high.

We had an amazing experience at Red Herring Escape Rooms, completing Old Haunt and breaking the room record for Shutdown! Fantastic use of both technology and traditional puzzles. Josh was and excellent host and really set the scene and we finished with yummy cocktails made by James at Juke’s Bar. Thanks for a great time!

Very nice experience!
We tried the haunted house the first time. We loved the atmosphere and the game very, very involved physically. However the game malfunctioned a little so Josh gave us a free game on our return. We went back tonight to play again; Billie was our host. We played shutdown.

The rooms were really fun and very engaging with updated technology. The staff member who led our session Chavez was fantastic, so funny and made the experience one to seriously remember, so friendly and was very attentive. Cannot wait to go back!

More expensive than your average Escape Room but so worth it. Cocktails on arrival, mind games to get you warmed up and if The Old Haunt is anything to go by, completely immersive rooms. I've done just about every escape room in Melbourne and can say that there are puzzles in here the likes I have never seen. Great room, both scary and sad. No walkie talkies, just a room that adapts to the way you play. Sounds weird. Somehow works. No spoilers but one: I hope you like to dance.
