Rayners Orchard reviews
66We really enjoyed our visit to Rayners Orchard. Very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide and lots of delicious fruit we got to pick and eat as you go along the tour. We'd definitely love to come back some time to enjoy the fruits in different seasons!
Great place to buy fruit trees near Melbourne. They have an exceptionally wide range. Staff are helpful and incredibly knowledgeable.
Great tour and experience! Lots of different fruits for tasting and picking! Very nice family day out!
We recently celebrated our daughters 1st birthday here & it was wonderful! Caroline was amazing to work with & was so helpful with planning our party. The function room at Raynors is an awesome space for an event, the homemade food - absolutely delish! And Cam's tractor ride / fruit picking tour was so much fun! All the kids and the adults loved it and we have had so many compliments about what a unique and fun birthday celebration it was. Such a great kids party idea! Thanks so much guys, we will definitely be back for more fruit tasting!:)
Lovely farm and a very knowledgeable and nice tour guide. Got to taste lots of fruits which we never tasted before. The cherry on top of the cake were the cute doggies accompanying us for the tour (penny, spot and there was one more cute doggo resting in the sun Daisy. I may not be pronouncing their names correct. Sorry for that) Lots of fruits and plants varieties to see. Would definitely like to visit again. The experience was very good.
Tour around the orchard was really fun and we got to enjoy some delicious fruit! Recommend for a day out enjoying the sun and surroundings
We had a fantastic time on the fruit tasting adventure tour with Farmer Len. We learnt about many varieties of fruit which we tasted before we
picked our own straight from the tree - you can't get any fresher!
This was a wonderful experience - we learnt about many unique fruits, the fruit was delicious, the tractor ride was fun, and Farmer Len was most genuine and so passionate about fruit. We will definitely be back!
Cam brought us for tour of the Orchard in the tractor n we had great time. He gave us a very infomative talk on the fruits n we pick different types n tasted them. What a great difference in taste n freshness. I will bring my grandson when is bigger next year.
Family and I absolutely loved the tractor tour. 17 different types of fruit! The pies made on site were also delicious. Kids can't wait to go back.
We love the whole family and enjoy being there
We keep coming back each year and their winter fruits are the best
It was a great experience be honest, we were aiming to pick some persimmons from the orchards and we were nicely informed that we need to be in the tour in order to pick our favourites, and the tour was surprisely interesting as we might not have many chances to see and taste these varieties in season:)
Read this before going: Total rip off. There is no fruit to pick unless you pay $30+ for a the tractor drive. This is a forced tour if you want to something hete. There is also extra cost per kg for the picked fruit. Don't go there. I wish I had read the reviews before leaving the house.
So we did the 1h tour and got food at the cafe.
The tour was honestly amazing. Bunch of fruits that I’ve never tried and the tour guide was very informative and seemed to very knowledgeable.
The restaurant was almost the opposite. Very limited choice and our dining experience was 1/10. Mind u, when we did order there was a rush of about 50 people. Sadly they could not handle it at all. By the looks of it, the lady in charge of the kitchen got flustered by the rush and it flowed down the chain. We got our drinks almost straight away. DO NOT GET HOT CHOCOLATES HERE. Ahahah they were terrible. The latte was okay. Then about 30mins later we got two our orders, a cheese toastie and a ham and cheese focaccia. But then after that it was a mess, we got pies about 10mins apart and after about an hour, we told them that half our order hasn’t come out about twice and for some reason they started sending out the food that was already made. This wasn’t just our table either, it was everyone in the restaurant. At the end, another dude from a different table came over to see if the food being sent out was theirs. The table next to us left about 45mins in after we ordered (they had been waiting for much longer). At the end, after my dad cracked it at a waitress (feels bad for them cause it wasn’t her fault), we asked for a refund and they kindly obliged and even gave us the food to take away which was really nice.
But 2 other notes. 1.the lady who was in charge of the kitchen has run out of scones at some point and started sending out blueberry muffins instead, yet told no one 2. The pie we got at the end was a beef pie but we were told it was a lamb. Not that it really matters to me but kinda shows how lost the kitchen was. Also could have been an issue if allergies or dietary requirements were a problem.
But saying this, I don’t know they are usually like this and like I said, there was a huge rush that came in as we were ordering.
Honestly the food isn’t worth the price if u ask me, the pies were kinda bland, especially at 10 dollars a pie.
The tour is totally worth it. Was a special experience and the tour guide was very friendly. Overall the staff was friendly, just lost.
I’ve included some photos but obv, we barely got a proper experience
Extremly boring experince! Almost can do nothing expect the over high chargment. Can't see any apple on the trees, the farm owner put some apples in a esky, and said because to pick up apple is not that easy, so no people like to do it, then they "picked" some for the visitor. Same thing happened to plum as well, you also can't see any plum on the trees. I would rather to buy fruits from super market directly without long distance taveling. They need to learn respect customer, it's a shame to earn money in this kind dishonest way. Compare with them, wws&coles have much more fun.
Used to be a great place but the quality has gone downhill.bought a 5KG white peach for $22 (vs.individual pack $5 each with much bigger peach) with many very small peaches. Took home and found a few rotten and not fresh ones. What's the point to buy peach from a farm paying a premium and get worse than the quality from supermarket? !
Total rip off. You cannot pick fruit unless you pay $30 pp including kids to ride a tractor. Fruit was limited and poor in appearance. Cafe took ages.would not recommend. It is not a true “u pick” experience.
Delicious fruit and good outing for the kids, looking forward to some feijoas when they're in season! Thanks for the tour Andrew
Nice scenic tractor ride around the orchard, but the rides were short between the fruit picking.
Only thing is to let the staff know that you arrived so they can arrange for a driver to come and pick you up even if you have booked a time.
The fruits were amazing and they definitely know which fruits are ripe to be picked and eaten on the spot. However, if you are planning to pick to take home, you'll need to pick the ones that are not fully ripe cause they won't last long otherwise.
Remember to bring a hat and have fun!
Loved the outing, loved the fruit, loved the caffe.try to adjust your expectations from city showrooms to a simple country side orchard and you will be fine.
Mr. Len was our guide into the farm with his tractor, we were the only people with him, we learned a lot.
Verity of peaches, plums, & nectarines
In addition, the shop is full of honey, jam & nuts.it was a wonderful & juicy tour, we loved it so much:)
Thank you Rayners farm
