Best to avoid sadly. Their matching service seems fine and the person was quite nice. For $150 of course which is unclaimable. But worth the money to get a good psychologist right? So I was matched. With a psychologist who I'm sure is ok for the right clients, but I think I was put into the LGTBQI box which is fine as I am a part of that community. That doesn't mean they can grab the next LGTBQI councillor on their books and we will click. It felt lazy. I tried to set ground rules about what I would be comfortable discussing which were ignored. Which is fine as we are supposed to be taken out of our comfort zone in counselling but the psychologist didn't even try to build any trust relationship first. They also talked about other clients which made me deeply uncomfortable. I had to pre pay which I kind of understand why they do, but I was pushed toward direct debit. Now, I hate direct debits but it seems to be the way of they world so I went with it. I have a bank account only for direct debits which I transfer money in to when I expect one to come out. Unfortunately, they tried to take money out a day early and then sent a message when the payment inevitably declined. This isn't a great experience. They invoiced me incorrectly as a Medicare patient so I had to call for a new invoice. Remember that it is almost impossible to get through to reception with these guys, you get a voicemail and leave your number for a call back, which is great I guess if you don't have any other commitments like a job and can wait around for a call back. My third appointment was cancelled by the psychologist with 2 hours notice. My $200 pre payment was kept as a credit toward future sessions which, after some thought and reflection, I decided not to go through with. Months later, I am still chasing up a refund.
There are better psychology firms out there. These guys aren't up to the cut unfortunately.

Have recommended a number of employees within my organization suffering an array of issues from personal to work related and each and every one I have recommended has provided me with amazing feedback with their experience. Could not recommend enough. Thanks team at Psychology Melbourne!

I had a hard few months in the lockdown, my mental health kept going up and down and I felt very hard to motivate myself in the best of times so I reached out for some support from this practice and was so happy with the effort and work they put in. I was not only connected with the right person suited to my needs, but the support from the admin staff was beyond amazing. Highly recommend.

I've been going to psychology Melbourne for some time and have seen two practitioners who are both great.
Recently I had an issue pertaining to a misunderstanding between my practitioner and the reception staff at the practice, however this was dealt with quickly and efficiently once identified.

I recently used Psychology Melbourne through my workplace EAP - The stress and pressures of COVID had caused some real problems for myself and also in my relationship. The issues were complex and multifaceted. Psychology Melbourne paired me and my partner with a great Psychologist that got quickly to the root of our problems and provided some great tools for us to use in our communication. Robert also quickly identified another issue of mine and supported me a lot in me searching for MY solution to this issue, a great service which I would recommend.

Prepaid for appointment, appointment cancelled with 10 minutes notice, no answer to phone, voice message, or email.

EDIT:
Office manager responded to this complaint the following day, and rebooked the appointment after several days, and then they tried to charge me for it AGAIN, only relenting after a call to VCAT.

ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER HANDLING.

I highly recommend Psychology Melbourne!
I have completed one of their online courses and have really enjoyed the course content. The sessions are informative and overall have provided me with the skills, information and guidance I was expecting to receive.

Knowing the courses are run by Professional Psychologists provided me with the confidence I needed to enrol with Psychology Melbourne. Furthermore, this ensured the skills and information being taught were practical, appropriate, and updated with current studies and practices.

I love how these guys do a matching service. It’s scary enough going to counselling without worrying about whether you’ll click with the psychologist you see. This takes all the stress out of it. I always recommend Psychology Melbourne to my friends.

This place will be really helpful for my mental brother. He always says he wants to kill himself and keeps saying sorry multiple times after he does a mistake (or sometimes a little accident). This is the best place for him to settle down.

Treat you like a number. Go somewhere else. They’re too big and act like it. You’re mental health is personal and important. But it’s not important to them.

Absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated by reception staff here. Calling me (off a private number! After I was hospitalised and demanding money after a mistake they made which resulted in me not knowing about an appointment. Will not be going back because of this, couldn’t be more insensitive if they tried.

We were very thankful to the team at Psychology Melbourne for skillfully guiding us through a distressing family situation. With our counselors, we developed strategies that continue to strengthen our decision making and to facilitate better communications and outcomes. It has and continues to be a very worthwhile process.

Had a session yesterday as I was feeling a lot of anxiety at the thought of dealing with this busy time over Christmas. I will be returning weekly to sort out my issues. Thank you! I am so lucky to find the right people to sort my ‘stuff’ out with.

I have attended many excellent professional development sessions at Psychology Melbourne. These sessions reflect the commitment of the practice to develop the skills of their clinical team and keep them up-to-date with current issues.

Truly impressed with the matching process and the skill level of the psychs at this practice. After just a couple of sessions, I had new tools I could apply and was able to reframe my experiences. I have no hesitation in recommending these guys!

Attending sessions at Psychology Melbourne has given me tools to overcome my anxiety and work thru my issues. Everyone is so friendly and professional in the office and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend my therapist to anyone experiencing a difficult period in their life.

I have been seeing Jill Wright for over a year and can honestly say it is one of the best things I have done for myself and well being. Jill is professional, supportive, caring and has saved me from the deepest darkest time that I have been going through. I urge anyone to please see any of the wonderful team at Psychology Melbourne for whatever problem you feel you might have. They will have the perfect person to help you and I can assure you that you will be in the best hands. The reception and admin team are always friendly and greet you with a smile which we all need! If I could be the "President of their Fan Club" I would be.x

I was referred to this practice by my doctor after getting on the mental health plan. I had a decent first session, and second, but I was sick and had to rearrange my third on a few hours notice to a few days later. For this I was charged a "50% cancellation fee" (Which is $95!).

I find charging a psych patient a cancellation fee for rearranging their session to be insanely unethical (let alone charging the fee at all - regardless). This did not make me feel comfortable that this practices best interests were in helping me improve my mental health, more so, it was just a business.

If a psych patient wants to cancel (or in this case just rearrange) with 1 minute or 23hrs notice, they should be allowed. Who is to say what state they are in? I'm bitterly disappointed.

I wont be returning.
