Proserpina Bakehouse.

After 3 of us riding in some cold and misty condition, we thought we'll grab some coffees and warm up. I'd hate to say it but it was the worst coffee we ever had. Tasted like instant coffee and no sign of the ordered cappuccino. Sorry, not going back there.

Thought I try to support local instead of going to Macca's for my daily dirty chai. Sadly was disappointed.

Although the food was tasty and the staff were kind and warm, when it came to my drink it was a big let down.

I had asked for a large and once I received my drink, I asked if there had been a mistake as it was tiny!

Turns out they only do one size, I wouldn't have minded if I had been notified before buying.

When I went to drink it after almost 5 minutes it was seriously hot! The kind where you know those few taste buds on the tip of your tongue are beyond saving. User error, I know, but this was super hot!

Not only this, the drink itself tasted burnt and had no real flavour. I would have gone back if I wasn't already home.

Overall, nice place and all but don't get the chai.

UPDATE: My chai was clumpy as well! I don't know what they did but I'm never coming back now!

This is my go-to lunch spot whenever I'm in the area. Simple, honest, tasty food and reasonably priced. I love that the kitchen is fairly open, so you can watch the magic happen. Have been a few times - my favorites are the vegan galette, salads and the sweet tarts (lemon especially!)

Everything about this place is what I want in a cafe! Came here just before our 5th Melbourne lockdown and I loved everything about it. What could I want more than a cafe with a nursery, a fully stocked cakes display, and a fancy deli section?

A small touch that I loved was the open kitchen in which I saw (and smelled!) trays of brownies fresh out of the oven, and the water pouring station with the wooden spoon spouts is adorable. Next time I'm in sassafras I will absolutely be popping in again, and I would recommend for anyone in the area to not miss out on this gem!

We drove for an hour to visit this bakery and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was so cosy and inviting. They had a large selection to choose from and it all looked so good I wish I could have eaten all of it. The food and coffee were served fast and was so delicious. We got the cinnamon breakfast bun and the prosciutto pizza. The staff were all so friendly. I highly recommend and will be coming back.

Everything about this place is amazing. The food, the staff the vibes. Can't get better than this.

Paid $8 for a beef pie on the way to work for lunch on friday morning at 7.30am. Heated it up for lunch at work and took a bite.it was a cheesey ricotta or something and spinach pie. I am lactose intolerant.straight in the bin! Wasted $8 was sick and re purchase lunch. Abit more care needed.

We are incredibly grateful to have such an amazing bakery/patisserie a short stroll away that not only shares the same values of biodynamics/quality food as us but also has a lovely owner (Caroline) who is the kindest and most thoughtful person and we’re so fortunate to have her in our hills community

The food is always incredible you really can’t go wrong (oat chai is lovely and creamy too without the bad thickeners most have). I bake a lot of organic treats myself but still enjoy every time we go down to Proserpina for something different and our favourite Russian honey cake

This place is great. Obvious the breads and pastries, pies and quiches are made on site; they're fresh as and so tasty. Added bonuses of a cosy atmosphere, good service and foodie items to purchase and take home.

We had a wonderful afternoon at this very beautiful cafe bakery. I just absolutely loved their pie and tomato relish. Unluckily they were sold out with there pies so couldn’t get another one but definitely be back soon

One of our regular (and best) Saturday morning go-to's when we are riding in the Nongs. You walk through the front door and on your left hand side as you walk in, is a long multi-tier cabinet displaying an amazing array of freshly baked delights. The biggest challenge is in the deciding. I highly rate this bakery.

Came in near closing time and saw the pastries were almost completely gone, managed to try the almond brioche though which tasted great with a hint of citrus.

OMG everything is delicious! Prove me wrong! Everything! Must try! They are busy but we’ll worth the wait!

2nd time here. Waiting period is way too long. It’s nuts when you have to wait for food for more than 1hr. Just don’t go there when your too hungry. Food is not too bad. Average! Almond latte is just bad!

Very lovely cafe and they do take the cafe business seriously. The pattiersie products were delicious looking, the grocery goods being sold in the house were good quality and carefully chosen. It's also a very good location in the area and they even take the decoration seriously. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to grab a nice afternoon tea in the area!

The food here was absolutely fantastic. That alone was worth going for, but the staff; the staff were absolutely amazing. I don't think I have ever encountered staff that worked so hard and were so helpful and friendly. It was an absolute delight to be there. They should be so proud of what they have created in every aspect. I don't live in Melbourne, so I won't get to go there as often as i would like. I'll simply have to enjoy the anticipation. I can't wait to go back there. Huge thank you to the staff. I can't recommend you highly enough.

Delicious breads, sandwiches and tarts. We visited on both of our days away. And the mochas were delicious, using real chocolate (remember to give another stir when you get it to get the gorgeous chocolate off the bottom of the cup, yum!) Going there every time we go to Sass.

Must of caught them on a bad day as bakery items and coffee were ok but not outstanding. Will try them again on another day

Good tarts & pastries here. Gets really busy on the weekends. Takeaway could be a little bit earlier around 20 mins wait.

Just wanted to provide some feedback to benefit your business. I had one of those strawberry tarts and the cream tasted off. It could well have been mine but just wanted to let you guys know.
