Proserpina Bakehouse. reviews
65 Thankfully, Proserpina was not as busy as I heard it can get.
Ordered a couple of sandwichy thingies, which were nice enough but a little over priced (Scaccia - $17.50). I used to call in when they were up the road in Sassafras, and I’ll probably be back again, but I’ll choose something else.
Huge disappointing experience in this place. We ordered A Croque Madam and A Beef Pie. The beef pie was never came to our table and until we asked their staff said the Beef Pie got sold out already. No instead of offering substitute dishes they brought us cash refund straightaway. What I’m suppose to do? Go to the tail of long queue and place another order? Totally Unthoughtful management. Will not recommend to anyone.
Proserpina Bakehouse provides authentic cooked meals, (the kind your grandma cooks) patisseries and freshly cooked breads. Food never disappoints, atmosphere is vibrant with a great buzz.
Amazing food and coffee excellent staff little bit of a wait for food if it was a little less would be a 5 star still highly recommended
Such a lovely cafe bakehouse. Simple eclectic items on the menu made with fresh and fine ingredients. You can taste the love. Our every interaction with the staff was such a pleasant experience, even at the busiest of times. You can feel the love. We always love coming back.
Likely the most lovely cafe in the hills. The tarts and quiches are incredible and the desserts divine. The coffee is wonderful too, never bitter or scalded.
Always busy on weekends late mornings but if you’re in the area and in the mood for deliciousness, it’s worth the wait. Sourdough bread here is tasty + lots of other scrumptious treats on offer
Waited one whole hour in line today. I understand it was a public holiday but the service was so poor and slow, which was surprising because there were SO many staff members on. The food was not worth the wait and was extremely underwhelming. We’re from out of town and decided to disregard the bad reviews here, we should’ve just listened and drove somewhere else. First and last time here.
Passed by hear to pick up some sweets on the way to a friend's. Some nice gifts.
Was annoyed that as I'd ordered takeaway from the cabinet that I had to wait 15 minutes for them. They were sitting right in front of us.
Vwry busy place at 12.30pm.
Had a quiche, was a bit ordinary. $9.50 No salad. Relish was nice Lemon tart was the best I have had. They sell local jams relishes etc.which look good, and bake their own bread.
Coffee was nice.
We arrived at 12: 30pm on a Sunday and lined up for 50 minutes only to discover that almost all items were sold out. There was a long line of people behind us as we left who also had no idea that they were lining up for nothing. It was really disappointing that the bakehouse did not inform customers that there were no bakery items left - particularly when the server communicated to us that this was a common occurrence. We would not recommend visiting this bakehouse.
Amazing baked goods. Their savoury and sweet selections are both great. Their vegetarian options are usually actually my preference as they just taste so good. I come here regularly to enjoy the food in a beautiful area and grab some high quality bread to take home too
Really lovely food, good coffee, very friendly staff that gave us our food quickly despite being very busy. Can't wait to come here again!
We walked out today. They don’t cater for young children. They have a single high chair.
But the reason we walked out is because of hygiene. The tables were dirty and the menus were putrid.
Great little spot, incredible selection of pastries and artisan goodies on the wings. Fantastic ambience and service is friendly and fast even with long lines out the door.
Croquet Madam was exceptional and the salmon quiche beautiful although the salmon had sat for a little while out.
Pork sausage roll with the relish was good but the roll itself needs an adjustment to make the pork a little more lively and not dry.
We loved it nonetheless
Beautiful bakery on the Dandenong mountain serving local produce pastries and amazing bread pies sausage rolls and croissants
Got there late and most things were gone. Good selection of cheese. I will go back and try what looked like some tasty options
The daily pizza with potato was excellent, the Lorainne quiche was delicious too. Half of the items were gone when we came at 1230pm. I guess people will have to come early to have a full selection of this place.
Super cute bakery, really enjoyed their pies and lemon tart! The tomato relish that comes with their pies is to die for! We ate the beef and burgandy pie, did not expect but welcomed a homemade crust and chunky beef pieces. I think the filling could be a bit more seasoned, but that's personal taste. Could taste the red wine though!
It was very busy when we arrived, and they tried their hardest finding a seat for us but we ended up eating in our car. Still worth it.
Wish we had stomach space to try all of their cakes!
Good experience, clean, wide range of products, good strong hot coffee. Satisfying lunch. Service is great, take away food and beverages available most of which prepared and baked on premises. Pricing is very reasonable and affordable. All in all I would highly recommend this venue.
