Prince Alfred Hotel

The waitress walked past us about 5 times before we finally gave up on trying to get noticed. Asked her if we could sit in a specific spot and she said yes and someone took the spot befor we could get there. It was another 10 minutes of sitting befor we gave up and went to the bar and ordered. The food was average was not fresh chicken.
The only thing on the menu that claims to be local is the pasta.
There was no music and no vibe. They served us food where there was clearly people smoking. Unclear what the rules are

Used to be ok for cocktails. Walked in today for happy hour and got told they threw their cocktail menu out and won’t honour happy hour even though there are posters all over the wall advertising it.

Used to be known for craft beer. That’s all gone.

Guy behind the bar was exceptionally rude. Won’t be spending another cent here, plenty of other great and welcoming places in Port to go.

I had dinner and drinks here with friends out the front on a nice warm evening. The food was terrific (I had a chicken burger) and the staff were friendly.
It would be nice if they addressed people smoking in this food service area though. That spoilt it a bit.

No longer living in area, but decided to drop in today for an early dinner and pint. Still one of Melbournes great pubs with lovely and genuine staff/owners. Food and service brilliant. The taplist as usual suberb. My pregnant wife also highly recommended the non ahol options!

Delicious cocktails, super friendly staff. They put the NRL on for us and charged my phone! Would recommend!

This pub is so cosy, inviting and relaxed. The staff are lovely and the meals are always great (easily the best burgers in port Melbourne). My partner and I come here every week (sometimes several times a week) and have never been disappointed. The staff are so friendly and attentive and everything we order is always wonderful. They also have a great selection of tap beer that changes all the time and food specials so it’s something new each week!

Nice local pub of Port Melbourne. Exactly what you’d expect a pub to be. We sat outside which is dog friendly and there was a nice surprise with table service! We went on a steak special night which was $20.

I asked for mine rare with garlic butter and red wine jus. It was a porterhouse & came out slightly medium rare but was still very tasty. My friends was closer to medium then medium rare.

There wasn’t much choice for dessert so I did get a second steak as I was super hungry that day and I got a scotch fillet for this order as they ran out of the porterhouse cut. This one was cooked better and had bigger fries and salad!

Nice for a casual catch up with friends and dinner specials!

Great pub and great food, has friendly staff and table service for meals. Good selection of beers too

Great pub that's not too grungy, not too fussed. If I lived closer, I would come here all the time. The staff here are always so friendly and welcoming. The food is good (I love their bbq-seasoned fries), and there's always something fun going on. Great happy hour specials.

Friendly staff, has multi craft beers on tap but also Carlton Draught. Sports playing on multiple TV's and a pool table downstairs. Parma and schnitzel were a hearty size.

Great food and amazingly friendly staff. I will return and this hotel is highly recommended

Ok lunch meal was quite costly. Even if only one course. No coffee available. Service was friendly and timely

My favourite Melbourne pub. Independent brews on rotating taps with brilliant staff and great food. Superb.

Staff are awesome here, and the little rooftop is cute, drinks menu is decent. Food is okay but a little hit and miss.

Lovely vibe and great staff at the pub with live music playing however the Sunday roasts we had were a let down unfortunately.

Came in a stack not separate trimmings. Beef and gravy were nice but all the vegetables were tasteless which let it down.

Potato’s just boiled and fried quick in flour I’m guessing, not roasted enough for any crispy outside at all.

Cauliflower cheese had either next to none or no cheese in at all so was just in plain white sauce.

Greens ok but too undercooked for a traditional roast style meal.

Carrots completely tasteless maybe over boiled and left in water. Cabbage the same.

So realistically the only roasted ingredient seemed to be the sirloin itself, the rest was really just boiled vegetables, not a roast.

Beer was lovely on a good note.

I have been a chef for over 10 years all over the world and love a good roast. Researched this one with high hopes but will return to my usual place for Sunday roast in the future.

Did not bring up any issues up with the staff, it was loud inside and did not feel like the hassle today after a busy week. But as I said they were lovely.

I’m confused…. Used to have the absolute hands down best American burger in all of Melbourne. The Duke 2.1!

Went tonight on a Thurs and very few customers…. Used to have to wait or reserve hours in advance. All we were told was a “new chef”.

Menu has been reduced by 2/3. No onion rings any more. No customers any more. Burger was average to say the least.

The environment of this pub is fantastic, and the interior design is cozy and welcoming as soon as you walk in, perfect environment for a drink and some food.

The employees are all lovely, easy going, but there is excellent service. The food is always quick to come out, and the quality of the food is amazing, with excellent presentation. They regularly update their specials board - which in itself is fantastic as it provides more variation and the food never fails to amaze. We try to order something new every time we go and so far everything we have tried has been fantastic.

Definitely recommend going if you live in the area, or even just visiting.

Wow. Dinner tonight was great. Specials were intriguing and tempted us, and we weren’t disappointed. Fish special with risotto and scallops was amazing and my friends had the Wagyu beef shin which they loved. Always a special pub that I love chilling out in with a couple of craft beers, but dinner tonight took it to another level. Great place.

My local with a family feel. The staff are great and the biggest problem is do I have fabbo palma or a ripper burger?
Decisions Decisions

Entered on Sunday night was relatively quiet, male staff not that friendly or inviting to us told us to wait at bar for 5 minutes to check bookings for place that was basically dead.
To make matters worse unfortunately had food poisoning here. We had the lamb loaded fries between a group of 3 shared and we all fell violenty ill that night. I contacted the manager who was apologetic on the phone but feel the need to pass this on.
Would never return.
