Portland Visitor Information Centre reviews
32A good visitors centre with friendly staff with loads of local knowledge they're very happy to impart. Great for a chat about the area and really helpful to find things to do. I showed them a couple of scene photos I'd not been able to find by conventional means and they knew where they were which was impressive.
Very friendly and helpful. Worth a stop. Check the live webcam from seabird colony inside the center.
Staff is quite courteous and helpful. Thank you for all the information and guidance with places to visit.
The ladies are very lovely and helpful. It was a pleasure to go there and had good informations. Thank you!
Very helpful. Managed to organise a trip to the Gannett reserve for us. Which was a superb experience.
Helpful staff. Well located for motorists along the Jubilee Highway, outstanding with the lady Nelson ship at the front! I can see that the gallery attached would be so popular when the renovation completes! Took us around 15 min to walk to the cbd from here, Having to cross the busy Jubilee Highway! I am hoping for another visitor information centre in the cbd for people without own transport!
You must visit if you are in Portland very helpful staff plenty of information. You could spend at least a couple hours hear looking thru the museum and watching the video footage of the making of the break wall. Have a coffee or a meal at the cafe and watch the trucks working at the port very interesting seeing the trucks unloading.
It's what it says it is friendly people who know what they are talking about. Well worth a visit
There are Visitor Centres and then there is this one at Portland. Very well appointed and very helpful staff. It's set in the harbourcat Portland and its surroundings are very picturesque.
Extremely knowledgeable and helpful lady. Useum very interesting and hot chocolate at cafe excellent
The Maritime Discovery Centre costs $6 per adult. We spent roughly an hour perusing the displays. Be warned- The Sperm Whale skeleton smells really, really bad! Such a shame as it tainted our whole experience.
A great place to visit, it should be your first port of call when you arrive in Portland. There’s a very interesting maritime museum within the centre which tells you a bit about the history of whaling and boating in the Portland area. It’s well worth the entry fee. Everyone aged 10 and up would enjoy it, whether you have an interest in maritime history or not!
