Portland Visitor Information Centre reviews
32Always great service by volunteers. The museum is a comprehensive historical look at Portland well worth the visit.
Went here as we are not from here and walked straight out! Was stared at by the lady the whole time, she didn’t even smile or bother to say welcome! Was very off putting
Great place to visit very helpful staff lots of information and brochures for free loved the skeleton of the whale
Lovely and quiet. Offers of assistance often. Staff picked up my goods I dropped and offered a carry bag to help. Good selection of info
Lovely information centre unfortunately not greeted at all when I was there looking around for 15 minutes which to me is crucial to visitors to be acknowledged. Wasn't asked if I needed assistance or recommendations. To be working currently in a visitor information Centre I always say hello and ask if I can be of any assistance to make visitors welcome to the region and I got nothing. I located information I found and left. There was futher information I would have preferred but no customer service. There was no one else there when I was present so was not a preoccupied issue
Thank you Kristy for your helpful advice to my sister-in-law re BudjBim and Great Ocean Road!
I have visited hundreds of visitor information centres around Australia. But this is the worst visitor centre of all of them. Place is nice with everything as other visitor information centres. But the staff is really lethargic and not helpful. They did not offer any assistance and when I ask information they just tell something sake of telling something and disappear. They treat you like someone who came to trouble them. I visited there twice. Once to get information and second time to visit museum. Both occasions we got same treatment.
Excellent talk given by Corey to our Probus group. The museum is small but very well set up and informative. Loved our few hours there.
It's a nice place to visit. Lots of information about the Admella shipwreck. Well maintained. Free entry. Small museum but good to visit and learn something about the whale hunt.
Friendly staff. Very knowledgeable and gave us wonderful places to see. Thank you so much. Will call them with time to see the whales.
Good place to visit, friendly and helpful staff. It is worth spending some time looking aroud the "Discovery Centre" which is located in the same building.
Very informative and interesting, heaps of brochures available on the area, found out about some hidden little gems of places to visit. Staff were very friendly and helpful, lovely outdoor area to sit and eat, or just watch the ocean. And there is the skeleton of a whale there where you can take photos sitting inside it, and a huge shark hanging from the ceiling, and a great selection of historical equipment used for fishing and whaling in the 1800's. Absolutely well worth a visit!
Plenty of information about the area. Friendly, helpful staff on hand to help with any enquiries.
Very interesting history of Portland recorded, fascinating exhibits; loved it. Don't go past the Cafe there, the food was excellent. Highly recommend!
Staff are very helpful here, and the museum is great to go and have a look at the history of Portland. The displays are well maintained and informative.
We love this place. It is so well presented and maintained. The museum is a must look. Whilst we're all glad whaling is over it does highlight how tough times were. We will be back!
This is quite a good place to visit, a must if you want to get the best information for the region's main attractions.
Very happy staff on this visit. Our visit last year wasn’t great as the person didn’t want to be there but this time the person was fantastic
Kristy you are amazing! A wealth of knowledge to the area and a true asset. We will visit again soon.
